  1. I like the commitment Smith has and the way he always chases defenders, putting them under pressure, but he certainly doesn't score enough. He didn't suit midfield either. Not the worst signing at £6m, but he's not a defender.
  2. Signed for Panathanaikos. Also I don't see how Baines is too short - he's a full-back. Most full-backs are short.
  3. Cheers for that - I don't have 6A*s and it's unlikely I'm applying there anyway (definitely not doing economics at least).
  4. Aye, got some ideas - like going into the management area or perhaps journalism, though a bit of work experience might help for that.
  5. All I'll say is there's some pretty good places to live if you're not frightened of wandering off the beaten track a little - I see so many students sticking religiously to places on the nearest/most direct tube/bus route to their campus, when they could be saving money and/or getting a much better place just by doing a bit more research. But then I live sahrf of the river and just off the tube map (though still in zone 2), so I would be trumpeting the virtues of the lifestyle (such as it is). So ignore me. What unis/courses are you eyeing up, anyway? I'm not frightened of big cities - I know lots of people who will quickly say how rubbish a certain city is and tell me I'll get shot there etc etc. Not too bothered myself. As for unis, I'm looking all round the country really, but in London I'm considering UCL, King's and possibly LSE (if I choose to study politics/international relations), but not too sure about the course yet. Also got the joys of my results yet to come out so I can see how bad my grades are first.
  6. Howay man, it's not the most exciting part of the world but "slum" is pushing it Maybe not all of it, but it certainly looks terrible when I've been through there. Do you live there? Sort of - I live in the borough but not in Lewisham proper. It's where I go shopping though. The centre's a bit rough around the edges but I find it does the job. Mind, I'd never dare to claim my standards are particularly high. In fairness I don't think anywhere in this country is a slum, as they're more the favela-esque towns you find in LEDCs - just a negative word I like to use. In fairness I'd much rather live in London than where I do now and I won't expect to live in anywhere classy if I go to uni there.

  8. I heard Geremi had a stormer of a match playing centre-mid. Could be the steal of the summer, especially given his versatilitiy. It's also good Luque got a couple of goals, if he played rubbish - it'll do his confidence a lot of good.
  9. To be fair though, every big city has it's good and bad parts. London, for example, may be the capital but it is a massive city, so obviously there's plenty of slums like Peckham, Lewisham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets etc and even some very bad places further out like Croydon and Tottenham. Despite that it's still a fantastic city and I'd rather live there than a pleasant village or little town with nothing exciting to do. Also, people's perception of what is a good place varies a lot a some may just want somewhere with lots of nightlife, whereas others like the place to be calm and attractive.
  10. Most of the bands NME bums are really quite crap imo.
  11. True though there are worse places for nightlife. Think I'll go to a city when I go to uni the year after next. Currently living in Bridge - quite a nice (but unsurprisingly boring) village southeast of Canterbury.
  12. I was thinking about defending Kent but all those places are shit! Ashford's not too bad though, came 4th best place to live in Location, Location, Location once! Canterbury's quite nice, Maidstone's ok and there's a lot of nice countryside out there as well, just not much by the way of cities. True I remember those Channel 4 fools liking Ashford (and also Eastleigh which has been mentioned). It's got it's good points definitely, but it's overally pretty rough - some intimidating council estates there. There's worse places I admit. Canterbury's nice though - poor nightlife but great town centre. Maidstone's not bad and has a good town centre. There's some nice countryside definitely and places like Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks are also classy places (if that's what you like). It's just that most of the towns are pretty bad. Ashford's not rough at all really, there's only one intimidating council estate I can think of and I've lived for long enough.. the town itself isn't so great but the surrounding areas and villages are very nice. It's more Ashford District that's the nice place rather than Ashford itself. Fair enough, there are some nice areas around it and the fact it gets possibly most sun in the country helps. You live in Kent currently?
  13. Hastings Tower Hamlets Newham Glasgow Derby
  14. Used to get them sitting down in classrooms quite a bit and sometimes in buses.
  15. Elvis Preisley Shirley Bassey David Bowie Stephen Hawking Some others I'm sure.
  16. For the Eurostar I think you need to pre-book. Not sure about Le Shuttle.

  18. Anyone been to a cesspit in Wales called Blaenau Ffestiniog? Now there's a place that is undeniable worse than any big city, no matter how much you dislike them. And I spent a week in some falling apart house there.
  19. I was quite impressed with him that game tbh. They did a feature on him but from what I recall they just showed his movement and didn't show him do much really useful other than the goal.
  20. Nothing to great currently, or too bad. Summer should be good hopefully, provided the weather improves a bit.
  21. You're right, the Medway towns are shit, although a high percentage of Rochester girls seemed to have massive tits. Must be something in the water? Never knew pollution makes tits grow tbh. Notice I left out my fine city of Canterbury.
  22. Nottingham's a great city - bit ugly though. Right then: Herne Bay Margate Ramsgate Sittingbourne Sheerness Ashford Faversham Folkestone Dover Rainham Rochester Gillingham Chatham Strood Dymchurch I love living in the wonderful Garden of England.
  23. I don't think he looked good when he played us anyway - all he did was score with a tame unmarked header.
