  1. 1. Just been playing cricket 2. I got quite hot playing cricket. 3. I went for less than a run an over. 4. It was clearly a boring match. 5. My facts aren't that interesting.
  2. Willie McKay - anyone know hold old he is? Could explain why we haven't signed Barton yet.
  3. Pretty typical, she turns up to the training ground and the squad aren't there. Roeder seemed decent though.
  4. Beckham didn't deserve to be dropped at all - though understandably from the starting line-up, but certainly not from the squad. Fair enough he's a one trick pony now, but it's a pretty awesome trick. Even if he was clearly past it, it was evident he knew how to deliver superbly consistently, unlike any of our wingers. He had a better World Cup than some tbh.
  5. Aye, great technique. Crouch appears useful also.
  6. Blatantly been told by Allardyce to appear rubbish in order to avoid being signed by anyone else. Done okay so far.
  7. Lack of really good options. I don't see much in Taylor being captain - he's still young and rash, and needs to concentrate on his own failings before telling others off. Still got the potential to be a good leader though.
  8. I'd imagine every Newcastle fan in the stadium would be delighted to see him when Wigan visit, to be honest. Sibs or Bramble? Bramble. Ah right. Next season could turn out to be a laugh for the Newcastle fans, as they can actually laugh at all of Bramble's mistakes instead of whine.

  10. Not many good left-wingers kncoking about anyway. And his pace would get him out of trouble. Definitely worth a try there anyway. Might not get done by a winger but a big centre forward at the back post certainly will. As would countless other short-arsed full-backs. A big centre-forward should be picked up by the centre-half anyway. Most full-backs are short and don't excel really well when it comes to heading and often tackling. Dyer used to play right-back quite a bit and was apparently quite good, so it's probably worth a gamble, as Beckham needs someone pacy to link up with.
  11. True - it was the right decision not to offer him a two-year contract. Good luck to him though - no reason not to wish him that.
  12. Even when first and second (and third) pick up injuries? Then is he still good enough as 4th choice, when circumstances mean we're relying on him for goals? Care to name a poorer 4th choice in the top 4, seeing as that's where we aim to be? i'd say he's on par with the likes of alan smith, aliadiere, baptista, kalou, robbie fowler etc Would you? I think if you did a poll, most people would have ANY of those listed in their team ahead of Shola. MrMiyagi continues to get a little angry over this discussion - calm down is my kind advice. I would rather Smith to Ameobi and also Kalou, but his finishing is certainly no better on the basis of this season. Aliadiere barely ever scores and has only had one good game for Arsenal, in the Carling Cup against Liverpool, as far as I know - no Arsenal fans rate him. Baptista scored four in that game but has looked pretty rubbish otherwise. Judging bu what we've seen in the Premiership, Ameobi has appeared better to me. Robbie Fowler's hardly done much recently also. I know Ameobi screws a lot of things up, but he can also be a useful player when not scoring goals, which is more than what you can say for Fowler these days.
  13. Been there a few times - got some relatives there and my sister is at university there. It seemes like a nice place to me and they all seem to like it. Sister tells me the nightlife is excellent and yes, the gun crime is exaggerated as it is in only a small area. Generally those who knock the place are people who have never been there, but have listened to some idiots on Channel 4.
  14. I know Ameobi can be frustrating, but if he's scoring goals you should at least be grateful. He's better than someone who doesn't make many mistakes, but barely gets a shot at goal. Basically what Chopra was like for us. Anyway, Shola was scoring, Chopra was coming off the bench and not scoring - don't see why Chopra would deserve the starting place instead.
  15. Still think it's absolutely ridiculous the amount of stick he gets here. HJe's just an average player, though one who has done excellent in the last year and a half, yet people still criticise him as if he's done something terrible. "Ameobi should be shot", "If Big Sam even contemplates playing Shola, even in a pre season friendly, I'll write him off before he even gets going." etc - looks like some people feel a tad too strongly about this issue. I doubt you would have been saying this just over a year ago. They'll probably dodge the issue of his more recent form as always, and start whining about how he was rubbish 150 years ago and all those dopey fucks here etc etc.
  16. Well on the basis of the O5/05 season, I can safely say we'd have been better off with the might Shola up front than Sibierski/Rossi/Luque/Milner/Duff etc.
  17. Barton's a quality player and while he has done some pretty nasty things, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Allardyce isn't a man you'd like to misbehave under and while Pearce isn't either, I've seen enough evidence of Allardyce's player handling that would suggest to me that he can get Barton playing really well and not feeling the need to commit any vile acts. I've always felt Barton always digs himself a hole by presenting himself worse than he actually is, through his actions. He often comes across as a fairly nice and fairly intelligent guy in interviews - he was certainly right about the England players after the World Cup. He's not had an easy life and the events that happened to his brother can't have been easy for him. I also feel sorry for him over the incident where he bared his bum at the Everton fans - they were hurling abuse at a guy who had just given up his shirt to a disabled fan. Not nice getting jeered at after making a nice gesture, so he was obviously frustrated.
  18. I think the fantastic medium of the youtube video, which displays the overwhelming talents of Shola Ameobi and Albert Luque in some style.
  19. Fair enough, the art of forming an opinion is a bit beyond me.
