1. Agreed, he should be shunned and avoided at the very least. Sounds like a right knobjockey! 143972 I can't for the life of me remember what his name/username was. But really it was my own fault for relying on my PM inbox to store the details...
2. Thankfully not, I basically made the mistake of posting my application form to someone. He paid up and changed the address details. But if it is any comfort SO I haven't really missed it too much. I do get a bit neurotic about missing even a second of the game on TV. I also get ridiculously excited when I stumble across commentary on 5live sports extra or Radio London.
3. A word of caution SO. I did the same thing last year and gave it to somebody on here, on a years basis and haven't heard a thing since. Make sure you keep control of the situation, cos even if I did wanted mine back (which I don't) I couldn't get it. I lost the dudes details in a PM when this board went down.
4. As with many players he was being handicapped by fuckwitt souness and his depressing, awful tactics and style of football. Numerous times Parker would get the ball, look left, see nothing, look right, see nothing and so on because we had no width, no attack and were playing with a team devoid of motivation and morale. He was often right to keep it as he had no option and would be throwin possesion away. So this season we should see whether he can use the ball more quickly or whether he does have a tendency towards keeping it longer than is required. 141740 Perhaps that is the case. I truly hope it is. I think I said the other day that I think Parker has the ability to adapt and play a little more quickly.
5. So answer me this - why were we much better without Parker in the team? The fact that his disappearance more or less coincided with Souness going might have something to do with it , but seriously, I don't know why people rave about him. As usual I will be proved right with time..... 141135 What a silly argument. Like someone said, that makes chopra and ameobi better than shearer and owen Cant believe how daft somepeople can be. You might as well have said that ronaldinho sucks since chelsea won the title without signing him or the beegees were rubbish because they couldn't sell more albums than the beetles. Thats the kind of argument you are giving. No personal offence mate, but that post just drove me up the wall. 141241 I am on record as saying I didn't like Batty, and I feel Parker is a player in the same mould. 141314 I too thought Batty changed us (and R.Lee) for the worse. For me Parker doesn't release the ball quickly enough. I think the majority see that he wins the ball well, and doesn't lose it in possession. BUT as a consequence while he is turning (and sometimes turning again) to get out of trouble and maintain possession, the oppositions defenders are recovering their positions and the chance of exploiting space is gone.
6. It would have fallen to Dyer and he'd have injured himself trying to stick the ball in an empty net...
7. And to be fair to Supermac he was on a liquid diet when he made the comments about centre-partin. I agree with Renton though. Parker last season slowed us down, he always wanted a touch too many. But I like him as a player and think that he has the ability to change that and play a little more one-touch.
8. Get yourself down to Vinopolis. It's on the South bank, it's a museum of vino.. Excellent way to spend a couple of hours learning about wine while drinking a surprising amount. Me and Mrs S got the platinum package which certainly started the day in the right way... Another ale and tourism combo is the Punch and Judy in Covent Garden, disgustingly expensive drinks and watching street theatre from the balcony. Praying the man juggling chainsaws has a nasty accident!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then teck her to Stringy's...
9. Nice to see we're going to leave it until the world cup starts and prices rocket before making any changes... Just for once I'd like to get the impression that there was a plan in place and targets identified. Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder has outlined the need for a new prudent transfer policy on Tyneside. The newly-installed manager believes The Magpies need to learn from past forays into the transfer market - many of which have proved expensive failures. Former manager Graeme Souness spent nigh on £18 million on Jean-Alain Boumsong and Albert Luque and both players have failed to deliver for the Premiership club, albeit for differing reasons. And Roeder now insists the club must take greater care when targeting new signings if The Magpies are not to repeat the mistakes of the past. "We must take care over who we sign," said Roeder. "We have to be pro-active and there will be careful activity because we certainly can't afford any mistakes. "I will be judged on my dealings. You could argue it is the most important and difficult part of the job but we will get to work now. "That is why we must make more investigations, check out the character and background of targets and ask if he is a player who stays fit and plays games." Roeder hinted that there would be several players leaving the club before new ones come in. "We will slide some players in and slide some out," added Roeder. "I need to be here looking at potential signings so that, when we come back in late June, we can actively get involved in moving players on and creating openings."
10. Gary Rhodes made a mackerel scotchie on Saturday Kitchen a couple of weeks ago. It was like posh chav food... Looked lush though
11. So England is better off without Rooney? 137119 Rooney scores goals. I dont get it. Im sure you were one of the first to slag off crouch cos he doesnt score enough and therefore wasnt good enough for england? 137398 Bellamy: 27 matches 137403 Injury prone tbh.. Shearer played more than that and I can't count as high as his age.
12. Bassedas didn't do too well on the direct route mind you! 137297 he just needed a run in the team...
13. I would exactly call Crespo or Drogba "average".
14. Whilst I agree that is the calibre we should be looking for. Owen, Gudjohnsson and Horse man all at the toon. Which one of them is going to be happy with a slot on the bench beside Amady?
15. 2nd one was like a jumbo jet going overhead
16. Has anyone ever bought a phone from the paper, if so did you encounter problems? Are you still able to transfer numbers to different networks? There is a deal offering a free TV/PSP/XBox 360, looks too good to be true...
17. If that happens we have to at least be making an effort to sign Bridge.
18. 8 fans... I think this shows that he is on a sticky wicket already. A few bad results and he'll have 52,000 on his back
19. Argentine striker Carlos Tevez admits that he holds suitors Chelsea in high esteem. The hit-man currently plays for Corinthians in Brazil whom he joined some 18 months ago from Boca Juniors in his homeland. He has proved a real success in Brazil having notched 21 goals in just 32 appearances and is now widely regarded as amongst the very best strikers in South America. Corinthians have insisted they have no intention of selling the 22-year-old regardless of the money on offer and will rebuff any approaches for Tevez. Chelsea have confirmed their interest in the player but claim it is unlikely they will move for him this summer, preferring at this stage to keep a watching brief. Tevez is aware of interest from the Premiership champions and admits he has a lot of affection for the Londoners. "Chelsea have the intention to take me," he told Fox Sports. "It's very difficult to distance yourself from them, they have shown a lot of kindness both to me and my family." They literally have no regard for the tapping up rules...
20. I also think that Chopra's build means that he has to be quick, cos he isn't going to outmuscle centre-halves. Unfortunately I think only Lee Clark and Luque are slower.
21. Is there any chance we could get him back for next season. I reckon Glen could get the best out of him.... Look what he did for Lampard..
22. Give it to Shola. His (5 goals in 11 games) run in merits it....
23. To be fair to FS he has been put in a position that meant he would find it very difficult to not give GR the job.
24. I think that he has to have a decent start otherwise the crowd won't give him the time they would have afforded an O'Neill or a Sven...
