2. Watched Jarhead on Saturday night. Simply not to be missed, very funny yet very moving.
3. One of the best flying experiences is coming into Heathrow Terminal 1 when the flight path is over London. At night it is absolutely spectacular. But you need to be on the right hand side of the plane..
4. Fun with Dick and Jane Nothing special at all. Jim Carrey not in good form. Some good moments though, decent pace. Leave brain at door.
5. A good point well made, although it's increasingly more likley to come from a big cavern under Russia, rather than the North Sea.
6. Problem with nuclear is that the public don't trust it in terms of safety. If the government were to recomission further nuclear build, it is highly likely that they would build on the existing sites, where acceptance is likely to be less of a problem. Even then nuclear only ever provided 20% of our electricity. Wind/hydro/biomass/nuclear/clean coal and wave/tidal need to all be employed. But first things first we all need to stop using as much power as we are. There was a report about 6 months suggesting that if we all turned off our stand by lights on the tv they could shut down a coal fired power station. 82371 Clean Coal is a myth. It just moves the point of the pollution elsewhere (where they take coal and make it clean). The one that is interesting is Bio fuels though, they are CO2 neutral and involve making petrol and diesel from plants. Problem si we don't have enough land to grow enough crops to make the fuel. I believe brazil has got this on a small scale though. 82377 The other clean coal option is shoving the gases in caverns under the north sea, but that seems like a ticking time bomb to me. As for biofuels, another issue is the fact that they are generally mono-cultures and therefore feck up the land. But we are going to have to start using them (or something similar) because A) we need to secure our electricity supply how will I get to work once the petrol has run out

8. I have to monitor climate change (we tend not to use global warming as nuckle draggers think that it'll be great when it's as warm as the Carribean in Walker) for my job, just a couple of quotes you might be interested in. There is no debate over whether it exists anymore, it's now a question of how bad it's gonna be, and what we can do to stop it. www.climatechallenge.gov.uk is a good site download the video it's well worth a look... The ten warmest years on record have all been since 1990. Six of the ten warmest years on record in the UK were between 1995 and 2004. In Europe, the August 2003 heatwave was probably the hottest for at least 500 years. During August 2003, the hottest temperature ever recorded in the UK was taken in Brogdale in Kent. It was 38.5° C. Between 4 and 13 August 2003, 2,000 people in the UK died as a result of the heat. – www.climatechallenge.gov.uk The current 2005 values for the Northern Hemisphere make it the warmest on record and the current value for the Southern Hemisphere make it the fourth warmest. Out of the past ten years, only 1996 does not fall in the ten warmest – its place is taken by 1995. - Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia (15 Dec 2005) For the fourth consecutive year, NSIDC and NASA scientists using satellite data have tracked a stunning reduction in arctic sea ice at the end of the northern summer. The persistence of near-record low extents leads the group to conclude that Arctic sea ice is likely on an accelerating, long-term decline. All four years have ice extents approximately 20 percent less than the 1978 through 2000 average. This decline in sea ice amounts to approximately 1.3 million square kilometers (500,000 square miles). This is an area roughly equivalent to twice the size of Texas. – US National Snow and Ice Data Center report (NSIDC) (29 Sep 2005)
9. It's alright. Too many chain bars and restraunts for my liking and as you can see from this carefully thought out list not many decent restaurants, but it never rains, which is a brucey bonus. There are quite a number of out of town mini shopping centres, but that's the same everywhere. Eating wise you're well off going out of town as there are some pubs which do cracking food all over Berkshire and oxfordshire.
10. A bee flew into the office today. A bee in mid-January, that's ludicrous. It is also t-shirt weather. We're all going to drown or burn to death!
11. Alternatively she could try the Bel and Dragon, you have to drive through an industrial estate but it's pretty much the best in town.
12. I gave up my ticket, cos I was moving down south and because I wasn't going to pay commuter costs as well as 500 quid a year to see the shower of sht that was being produced last season. I haven't regretted it for a single second, apart from the 5600 seconds of the mackem match. Besides about 3/4 of our games have been on the tele. I am perfectly at home with the moniker 'armchair supporter' or 'armchair supporter with loads of extra cash in his sktyrocket for booze as he's not paying out to watch the dross served up at the toon'

14. I'm suspicious of the amount of players this man has been involved with regards moves to our club. I don't know if it's coincidence (although with FFS i doubt it) but he seems to make a lot of 15%'s
15. http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?HLID=34...ball_Home&f=rss Laurent Robert accepts his Newcastle United days are over and concedes he could attract an offer from Marseille in January. The outspoken winger is currently on loan at Portsmouth from Newcastle - a deal which could turn into a permanent arrangement at the end of the season. Robert has yet to win over the Pompey faithful and is currently trying to fight for his spot under new boss Harry Redknapp. He admits he would not be happy to remain on the substitutes' bench at Fratton Park and is waiting to discover if the perennial Marseille rumours come to fruition. "Before leaving Newcastle, I had a lot of propositions and some beautiful ones like Bolton, Manchester City or great Scottish clubs," Robert told France Football. "I had choice and I think I still have it. "I didn't come to Portsmouth to stay on the bench, but I am going to work to get back my first team place. "Between me and l'OM, it is always the same trite news story, which often reappears during transfer window periods. "But a player in my situation could indeed attract Marseille from January." Since leaving Newcastle in the summer, Robert has occasionally attacked the St James' Park regime, leading the club to rule out a return for the Frenchman. Robert is also not expecting to head back to Tyneside, but is confident he has made a valuable imprint on the club's history. He added: "Newcastle is a club that will remain great to me, but the contrary is true [for them]. "I think I have marked Newcastle's history and I remain in several fans' hearts. "Before I came we didn't hear a lot about Newcastle. I don't say I was their miracle player, but I have participated in their improvement. "I left a more than positive image there. However, I don't think I will go back." Is he mental? Presumably our image before he came was not of one where mercinaries can take a fortune out of the club and only perform three times a season, thanks for that legacy Laurent....
16. Every time you got in the hot-tub, you'd realise that Lou Carpenters arse was once where you are sitting. Having said that so was Danni Stark's.. Every cloud..
17. Q: Name the inventor of the motor engine? A: Danny Devito's left shoe
18. Q: Where's SO going on holiday this year? A: Diana Ross and the Supremes
19. I chose to do a practical project instead. So ended up writing a 60 page 80's revival magazine... Genius it was.. Oh and I left it until the last minute.. Which is how I work best
20. As far as I'm aware there's been no change of policy... Generally a few players are asked (by the club) to give an interview a couple of days before the match. Each media generally gets a different player. Players for post-match interviews are requested by the press. Very often they are turned down Dyer/Bowyer/Bellaz/Robert/Pievert/Bramble/baba/Carr were/are pretty unlikely to agree to them. I can see Emre/Zoggy slipping into this catagory So you get the club sctratching around for a player to put forward for interview, and most of the time you'd get your good old pro (Shearer/Shay/O'B/Hughes/Speed/Jenas/Taylor) coming forward both pre and post match. I would see Owen and Parker slipping into this catagory. So the press won't use the interview cos they've heard from those people too much. I did notice that Baba gave a pre-match interview for Pompey, by my reckoning that'll be pretty much the first since he was unveiled in january..
21. You've got to hope that she (or the Hexham born rocker) aren't getting off their face in front of the kid.. I've got a bee in my bonnet (not sure, as a hetrosexual 27 year old male, that I can get away with saying that) )about the Mail, About a fortnight ago they had 5 pages devoted to destroying her career and character.
22. Apologies. I was typing quickly, and I was going for you average Daily mail reader rather than your average man on the street. Daily Mail readers are a different breed. I've never known a group of people (and this includes my own father) being so easily led by a newspaper. It's a newspaper for people who are too stupid to form their own opinions.
