  1. It very much depends on the age group you teach- if you are a primary teacher with your own classroom, you will spend best part of 1 of the 6 weeks just throwing out old shite. If you're teaching GCSE kids and just move from class to class it's probably easier.
  2. Not a chance. Not even close. Not being funny mate, but every teacher I know has plenty of weekend time to themselves. Even Little Miss Big-Boobed-and-Disorganised Walker... OK, so a perk of teaching is actually getting some time off? You make it sound like they all waltz home at 3pm Friday without a care in the world for the next two days. I think you massively underestimate the workload to do the job well.
  3. I would buy a limited-edition Johnny Hates Jazz EP.
  4. I've seen the union 'ready reckoner' for teachers salaries- in essense it doesn't matter if you're any good, it's about how experienced you are. Them's the going rates, and that's it. A few years ago schemes were introduced to reward teached for additional responsibilities and training through 'management points' but then that was all undone with the approval of the unions and it was back to the same old, same old. I've been surprised at just how many teachers are generally unsatisfied with how their unions have furthered their profession and generally apathetic towards them. Not a chance. Not even close.
  5. I've never heard any of their tracks, but my cousin is the bassist. I think . Or maybe the drummer.
  6. Oh, and kudos the department of "Bad News Burial" at Lloyds for their brutal timing of 15,000 redundancies being announced.
  7. DB Pension schemes are the ultimate Ponzi. Workers of the 60s / 70s were promised unaffordable perks, when they retired the pots were raided and now private and public workers are required to pay into schemes designed to benefit the older worker with the younger worker subjected to continual rounds of 'amendments' which effectively lose them their pension. I'd be supportive of these actions, but the general membership didn't vote in sufficient numbers. This is a sham. Unions are giving the Tories all the silver bullets they need.
  8. Seen him 5-6 times on TV and once in person at SJP (where he was the best player on the park by a mile). He's totally unproven as a top level player, but such is the nature of the current transfer market. The potential there is huge though.
  9. Whickham has played quite a few games out wide and at centre-half. I think he could become a brilliant player.
  10. Some of the stuff in their later albums is just ludicrously plagairised. Origin of Symmetry is a quality album though and they can't half put on a show.
  11. We're only keeping Guthrie because he's on next to nothing for PL wages. I can't see him getting a new deal and with a year left on his contract, £1m would have him signed, sealed and delivered.
  12. Were you "Matt" on there? As previous that was my first forum as well. Canny craic. then we all came here with Phil. Aye, twas me.
  13. I was on the Soccer 24-7 forum, then the Newcastle sub-forum mods upped sticks and made their own dedicated forum. Must have been 2003-ish.
  14. I look forward to his article when WHU are still paying a 33-year-old Nolan £55k a week.
  15. I didn't think they let you on the net at your new place.... Batty was always breaking up our forward movements by knocking the ball backwards and sideways. It Tiote keeps it up next season, he wins hands down.
  16. I'm open to offers on that one, Pud
  17. He'd have 1 game carried over into next season, he missed the 2nd semi and the final.
  18. Must be Oslo news day. Sometimes I wonder why they Bodø.
  19. Ifs and buts? Transfer windows in the Ashley era should be judged only when they're finished, not on the general sentiment of newspaper chatter.

    Senna

Watched this tonight- wasn't sure what to expect as a documentary- absolutely fascinating, using never-aired archive FIA footage. The tussles with Prost, coping with being a demi-god in his own country, the ill-fated move to Williams and the circumstances leading up to his death and the impact it has on the whole of Brazil. Definitely one to see on the big screen. http://www.sennamovie.co.uk/
  21. You might want to think back...
  22. I don't know what formation Pardew has historically favoured, but I could well see he looking at something like that- especially given our lack of quality our-and-out strikers.
  23. Tough shit. A few (relatively) get burned for the benefit of millions Millions? Certainly not anyone holding pensions, having cash in a bank account, or indeed any kind of currency on them.
  24. The things you say. You're unbelievable.
