We're not really in a position to pick and choose who to sell though. We're lumped with shite like Smith and Geremi so when an offer comes in for a player who hardly offers good value on his own merit it's too good to turn down.

European clubs usually pay in instalments anyway, don't they? So it won't do much to change our cash situation barring reducing the wage bill- most of the payments would be to these mythical new owners.

Ashley can't just trouser the money.

Last season was 17,875

I'd be more concerned if we sold Carroll, I think he might be alright in the fizzypop.
-
Would have been of no use to us next season.

Colo's on around £70k, Xisco around £50k- that should give you an indication of the state of the wage bill. Any player coming from Spain has to get a massive rise due to the different tax systems. -
Can't see Barclays being too happy watching all that money flow out of the door while Ashley dawdles, even if the fat man is happy to sit and wait.

Might want to throw PC ownership stats into those stats as well.

Should have done an English degree so he could become a nurse eh? Yeah cos English gets you a job in nowt. Teaching, Journalism, EFL just off the top of my head Funny you mention it, but UCLAN is held in extremely high regard for its journalism courses.

Just out of interest, where are you buying all the beers from for Saturday? -
There's no way he's asking for the £100m back. That would be insanity. Ashley may be a fool but his advisors should have some grasp on reality. They're probably talking about liabilities arising from players contracts which could take some time to calculate. What will really be holding the process up is Ashley desperately hoping someone makes a sentimental offer for the club, rather than one based on the real value of what they are buying. Still, now potential investors have seen the books, they know how long they have to wait before they pick the club up for £1. £50m free of non-footballing liabilities would be a very reasonable offer.

Renewed, because I would have done anyway.

Will be interesting to see how he acts without the Hall's hand up his backside. He was adamant when interviewed a while back that none of the club's problems had anything to do with him and it was all down to Ashley. We all know he's a gobshite but if he actually thinks that then he's going to find it tough going.
-
Given that you offered £100m for a player that was eventually sold for £55m, I'm not surprised.

Which is fair enough, though strange given he also declared his interest in a player with cattled kness.
