Not a good idea. The noise/reliability problems are going to be sorted on the new versions and you get a three-year warranty on them all which suggests to me they know how to fix the old ones now.

I bought the missus a Wii. It's great fun but they really need to release some games for it. Hope it'll get there though, like the DS. If you're going for a 360 I'd wait until the Premiums with HDMI are released over here (no date as yet, already on sale in the US). That way you'll get the best connection and there's a good chance you'll get a much more reliable machine as it'll be using the newest fixes. It might even have the new smaller chipset & quieter DVD drive. This isn't confirmed yet though.

Any time soon the Premium will have HDMI anyway. Announced the other day.
