  1. If I was you Parky I'd pull up a Command Prompt and do a chkdsk /p anyway and pre-empt any failures... Can't do any harm tbh.
  2. I would hope so but no probably not however...what is your point? His point is that the rest of the country is pointing at Rangers and saying "shame on you!" when in reality any number of club's fans could well have reacted the same. Given the events of May 1996, we're stood in a very large greenhouse armed with fucking boulders if we're going to suggest they're the only ones like to have done it...
  3. How man, they were invaluable when I was playing in goal for the school team and chucking myself around a muddy goalmouth that, when the weather was dry, resembled concrete...

    FA Cup Final

Whether you think they're shit or not, they've been considerably better than us for the last couple of seasons. Since Campbell joined them ironically enough (wasn't he too old/unreliable according to Glenn Roeder? ) Aye, but really that much better than us in 1998, 1999? And was it 2000 or 2001 where we lost to Chelsea in the semi's and they won it? And you'd have hoped we'd have hammered this Cardiff side (and beaten that Portsmouth one) on any of those occasions. In 1998 (it's just dawned on me it's 10 years since we lost to Arsenal ) and 1999 we were deservedly hammered by better sides. In 2000 I think Chelsea and us were very much on a par and that game deserved to be the final IMO. We were better than Chelsea as a team on the day but Poyet was the difference to me. In much the same way I think England would have beaten Argentina in the 1990 world cup final had we won the shoot-out against the West Germans, I think the 2000 FA Cup would have been ours had we met Villa in the final. Yup, in 1998 and 1999 we lost to better team (teams that were in fact at the top of their games those years), but although in 1998 we had an easy ride to get there in 1999 we had a pretty tough one, and certainly in either of those cases would have beaten this Cardiff side and probably Portsmouth too. Be a long time before there's an FA cup final with both teams this overall weak again I think. Aye, the double winners in 1998 and the treble winners in 1999. Outside of us, most football fans have forgotten we took part in the '99 final as it was largely overlooked as the prelude to the Champions League final a few days later.
  5. i reckon it's a replica shirt with a patch bought seperately which has been sewn on. The replica shirts at time were always sold minus the sponsor's logo. First replica NUFC shirt to be sold with a sponsor's logo on it was the 'barcode' shirt in 1990. I know you could buy the Greenalls Beers patches because my Mam, god rest her soul, got me one for christmas one year and I had it sewn onto my Newcastle keeper shirt from that era. Anyone remember that shirt? more shoulder pads than Joan Collins IIRC - it suited the 1980s perfectly. EDIT: Just found a photo of Gary Kelly in it:
  6. Also, the club need to take a look at some of the historic images when it comes to commissioning the retro-shirts. Have a look at the one of Gazza above and then look at the same shirt on the retro shirt page on the online club shop. Where the fuck did they dream up those sleeve collars?
  7. I tell you something, that "Greenalls Beers" patch is on the wrong shirt. That patch only ever appeared on the V-necked shirt (same as the Keegan shirt) in the first half of the 1986/87 season as shown here: (that's John Anderson BTW, T-Keith ) That shirt you've got the patch on was used in the 1987/88 season (they used the same shirt for 2 more years with a new crest - the current one). The sponsor patch for 87/88 was always simply "Greenalls" as shown here: FWIW, that kit that Gazza is wearing is second only to the Grandad Collar one for my all-time favourite

    FA Cup Final

When SBR was presented to the teams before the game, I saw him sharing a joke with Distin and wondered what was said. Apparently Distin whispered "we should have got to a final with you at Newcastle...." he's not wrong like, SBR was far more deserving of it than Gullit or Dalglish

  13. Really? You need to run a scandisk on your hard drive Paddy, which will fix it in a matter of minutes. Only problem is you can't get to a prompt to do so. What you need to do is use the Windows XP Recovery Console. To do this: Got hold of any XP SP2 disk (borrow one if needs be), stick it in the your CD drive and get your computer to boot to it (your boot order should be CDROM first anyway, if not change it in the BIOS). You will see the following message: Microsoft Windows® Recovery Console The Recovery Console provides system repair and recovery functionality. Type EXIT to exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer. At the prompt type chkdsk /p and press Return. This does an exhaustive check of the drive and corrects any errors. Type Exit and press return and then reboot your PC. Fingers crossed it should boot through perfectly. If for any reason it doesn't work, repeat the same process as above but instead type chkdsk /r at the prompt which locates bad sectors and recovers readable information. If this fails, THEN go for Wykikitoon's theory. Either way you need an XP disk. Hope this helps.

    What ISP

I was with them when I was on dialup and, although technically sound, their customer service was shite. Naturally when I made the switch to broadband, I was wary of them but having spoken to a few people at work, they couldn't talk highly enough about them, especially for connection speed. I think it's disgusting that you have to pay a small fortune for any kind of help but then i personally am not likely to call it.
  16. I'm very concerned that adidas came up with something like that.....

    What ISP

If I had the opportunity I'd go cable every time which would narrow it down a lot. Customer service might be shite but the product is far better...
  18. Leazes has been playing with the Delorian again... thinks it's 20 years ago
  19. no, he'll get flak if he turns into a retarded tosser like you who only comes on here because his team are more successful than us and he gets off on gloating about it... Do you hover on the Man Utd forums.......? Didn't think so

  21. Don't think so. If at all the war would have maybe taken a bit longer. But Germany would still never have won it. It wouldn't have changed the Russian winter, it wouldn't have changed the outnumbering of men and material, it wouldn't have changed the lack of ressources etc. Yeah perhaps you're right, the result would have ended up the same. It's the physical feat of the dambusters raid which impressed me - the chances of it all going to plan were so slim - but still they took that chance.
  22. It was certainly a remarkable mission, and as a kid, I loved the books and films about it. But was it really that important from a military point of view? I got the impression the propaganda value was more important. Well, one of the places that got bombed (Edertalsperre) is very close to where I come from. The predominant opinion down here is that the attacks on the dams were mislead in the believe to have a major economical effect, especially in cutting of electrial supply for the industry. The dam busters probably had much more of a psychological effect, not only on Germany, but especially as a morale boost for the allied troops. Which is probably why they are still held (rightfully) in such a high opinion. I agree Wolfgang, from what I've seen it was more of a psycholgical victory that anything physically significant but alongside the D-Day landings, surely was one of the major points of the war that turned things in our favour? Imagine if either campaign had been unsuccessful - the implications in terms of morale to the allied soldiers would have been quite damaging IMO.
  23. Not going to be much help but i'd say it's one of either: 0000 1111 1234 Couldn't tell you which one though - surely if you've switched to them, they should be able to let you know what it is? Either that or it'll lock up and you'll need to get a PUK code from them.
  24. Would have been amazing to see that... What they achieved in that mission isn't appreciated enough IMO. To fly that low in pitch black for so many miles and to be release the bombs at the right speed, height and distance from the dams so that they would explode at the precise moment was nothing short of remarkable. They only had one shot at this as well - no tests, no dry run, no computer models to confirm either way if what they wanted to achieve would actually work. And if it hadn't, I reckon the war may have turned out a whole lot different. Saw a program about it all on the History channel a few years back - totally worth watching and no doubt will be on one of those types of channels this evening. Well worth a watch...
  25. 4 points... that's all there is! Blinding hypocritical really I personally don't think there is... in fact if anything, I'd say there's probably more chance of them signing Deco. Remember Palace buying Lombardi or Boro buying Ravanelli?
