  1. Not sure what the ruling is but there are restrictions on having controlling influences on more than one club. Did't Maxwell try to buy Oxford United when he owned Derby County and was told to do one? I think one of his sons (who ended up copping it for the Mirror Group pensions carry on) ended up buying Oxford instead.

    Keegan

Keegan was (and still is) considered one of the hardest working footballers of all time in that unlike others in his time, he wasn't as naturally gifted. A true grafter.
  3. Beardsley - his overall contribution to a team was so much more and very understated. Both were awesome players but to me, Gazza's input was concentrated only on individual genius. Beardsley had that but could encorporate into the team as well. Cole and Lineker wouldn't have been half the deadly strikers they were had they not played alongside Pedro IMO. And a good proportion of Liverpool fans claim that the greatest ever Liverpool team coincided with Beardsley playing for them.
  4. Always cracks me up when people make ignorant comments like this..... It's without doubt one of the most physically demand sports going. Or are you referring to the fact that the outcome is that one of four usually win? Bit like the Premiership really...

  6. Whenever they were discussing what would be a potential terrorist target in this country (and they came up with Heathrow Airport), I always thought a major football stadium would appeal to them more as they'd be able to make a bigger impact. The Cup Final this year at the New Wembley for instance could have been high on their agenda. 90,000 people and most of the news cameras in the Western world were focused on it.

    Wrong Numbers

The girlfriend's phone number is quite close to the number of a local taxi firm so not surprisingly, she gets a few 'wrong numbers' late at night from people who've been out on the piss and can't dial properly. There was one night where some bloke got the wrong number and when told, obviously just kept pressing the redial button and ringing straight back. After he was told for a third time and he rung back again, she asked where he was and where he wanted to go and then told him there'd be one there in 10 minutes
  8. Possibly Kylie in recent years too...
  9. tbf both teams were gash tonight....compared tot previous games in the tournament !! Never mind ..a wins a win It's not when I lose! are you French ?? English, but with more belief than these soft shites. I took the bet we would win by 10 points ahhh...it all becomes clear.. Fucking hell Simone, he did say that half way through page 1. Don't you read??
  10. Wonder if that would mean we could soon be sporting the 'Virgin' brand all over our shirts?
  11. David Ginola's v's Ferencvaros was a bit special too - nice to celebrate a bit of showboating. Maybe I'm old skool but I don't think you'll ever see a crowd going quite as crazy now that we don't have terraces - the days on the old gallowgate end were a bit special....
  12. Aye that was McGhee.... Quinny had equalised only a couple of mins earlier and we thought we'd rescued a point then McGhee span on edge of the area and slotted it home - mental but oh so good times....
  13. Has to be David Kelly's v Portsmouth in 1992. As did the rest of the ground.... And for those who need a reminder, 2mins 37 seconds
  14. Do you think they realise quite how shite their journalism is? They're trying to create a fucking witch-hunt and very few Newcastle fans are buying it (thank god!) Stupid twats need to finally get over the fact that he chose Newcastle ahead of Liverpool 2 years ago and that they all jumped to massive conclusions...
  15. Yup - channel 442 (but I think you need to be subscribing to the history packages to get it). Basically if you can get National Geographic Channel and History Channel, you can get ESPN Classics. It doesn't come as part of the sports packages... As for the comments about Owen - Alex is spot on, we're fucking lucky to have him and so long as he's scoring goals for us (and he is in abundance) who cares what his motivation is?
  16. I'm willing to be most of the English media will disagree with you on that one
  17. Getting Speed back here as a player / coach would be an astute move IMO. I still think he's never properly been replaced.
  18. Didn't the initial reports when we signed N'Zogbia say something similar?
  19. I agree.... But then without actually playing for the club in question, how on earth can they further their careers?
  20. Why are we even having this debate? The reason Owen left Madrid in the first place was to get regular first-team football as without it, his england place wasn't guaranteed. That still stands so why in the name of christ would he be not wanting to turn out for Newcastle? Nowt more than tabloid bullshit which some people seem to be docile enough to take in. Scratch the surface and its not hard to see there's absolutely no foundation or substance.
  21. All I've heard this morning at work is how shite people think Martins is - "can't hit a barn door with a banjo" etc.... He reminds me very much of Mirandinha but with pace. Can belt a ball hard but more often than not, it's not troubling the goalkeeper. It's OK being able to run and smack it hard but he could really do with compensating some of that for using his head a bit more. He's a bit like a headless chicken just making runs on the fly rather than reading what's going on.
