The point I was hoping to get some people to arrive at. It's not Owen's fault it's there. It's the club's. They agreed to it and it just shows the amount of desperation we were showing at the time we signed him.

Is he 'hedging his bets' or is he saying nothing simply because there's nothing to say? The press are making a mountain out of a molehill IMO and they're playing with the fans securities by doing so. Until he comes out and says he no longer wants to play for us and wants to move away, he's our player and will get my full support. A fully fit Michael Owen who is firing on all cylinders is one of the best striking assets this league has ever seen. People who are saying they want him to "fuck off" simply because he's not publically wanking over NUFC (which unlike Shearer, he has no emotional ties to), need to get a grip tbh. I understand the concern you have with regards to the effect on the club, but that's the media for you and something that the club's press office should be dealing with. You my friend are a prize pillock, of course hes hedging his bets, he was quick to come out and defend himself when he was caught slagging us to Erickson, thats because he was not in a position where his clause was a cert to be activated if he so wished, get rid of the little money grabbing shit now, i wonder if youll defend him if he goes at 11.45pm on the 31-08-07. Why would I need to defend him? He won't have broken the law, he'd had exercised a clause in a legally binding contract which both he and the club have agreed to. If he chooses to go then, then so be it and good luck to him. Until then, he is still our player and therefore will get my support. However, if he's still a Newcastle United at 00.05 on 01-09-07 will you accept you were wrong?

Very poignant considering it's 50 years ago today that he threw himself under a train...

Well open your eyes! He's got a point like.... there's nowt listed there. Or have ebay removed them?

I still refer to the SJH stand as the Leazes End and the Gallowgate End has never ever been either the Brown Ale or Exhibition Stand in my eyes. Didn't they rename the East Stand after Shepherd at one point?

Sadly it's more a case of how much we need a player of his ability. Going by our current defensive legions, I'd say we might have to push the boat out in order to secure him.

If there's nothing to say then why would both the chairman and manager come out and comment on it? Because the press are continually pressing them for a comment. I doubt very much that Allardyce picked up a phone, called a journalist and told him that straight out. The question will have been put to him. When was the last time Owen was interviewed and asked specifically about his position at NUFC? I'd be very surprised if the media didn't want to ask him about his future while on England duty, he had ample opportunity then to deny the stories but obviously warned them against questioning him on it. Exactly. It's unusual and a bit suspect when you ban all NUFC related questions. So you know for sure that he banned all questions about NUFC being asked?? Surely that would be a media story in itself. More likely that the national press are more interested in asking him about England while he's on duty for them. I don't remember them quizzing Lampard about his position at Chelsea which is equally in question - do you think he banned them too? Ater his radio5 interview the interviewer said that they were told in advance no questions about NUFC Probably wanted to concentrate on the matter in hand than the one back at home - first competitive game back and all.... Not wanting to talk about something does not automatically state that there is a negative reason for it. As has been said, he's under contract. If he's going to break that contract, he's going to HAVE to open his mouth. Until he does so, he's our player - if we keep pushing him, we'll probably drive him out.

Fisi needs his super-licence tearing up then, he's an absolute fucking disgrace

Pish, utter pish even. He's older, he's slower and despite all that's gone before him, he still doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut. Consensus amongst Liverpool fans is they want rid of him too. He ended the best season of his career just 12 months ago, and lets be honest he's had some great games for the dippers, and at one stage was part of the first choice front two. He couldn't handle the squad rotation stuff though, but to say he's not the same player is ridiculous. If anything he's better now than he was say in 2003 and 2004. Some of his finishing in recent years has been absolute top draw, so many examples at Blackburn, his hattrick at Dundee United, and that astonishing volley against Aberdeen, I want Bellamy back here more than anything. He knew the squad rotation was going to be in place so to say he couldn't handle it shows a display of narrow-mindedness on his part. He's had some decent games this season but I think he's part of a better squad that he was here. Difference is he was a key player here, there he was a small fish and therefore blended in. He's not worth us throwing £9m at IMO. Let me remind u, Liverpool fans want rid of him - if he's 'all that', surely they'd be wanting to keep ahold of him! The murderers wanted rid of Houllier too, who's been brilliant for Lyon, so I wouldn't pay any attention to that. His heart is with the toon the same as Owen's is with Liverpool. As for this yard of pace he's lost - nah. Watch his goal at Fratton Park last season, and get back to me, running WITH the ball I may add. Comments like that are neither warranted nor welcome. Not warranted????????????????????????????????? cough choke splutter I will however respect your wishes. Is dippers acceptable? Pilferers? Dog snatchers? Gate stormers (Athens)? Childs ticket thieves? Not warranted that you're tarring everyone of their supporters with a very small brush. I and many other Newcastle fans, perhaps even yourself, had nothing to do and indeed castigated those who invaded the pitch against the Mackems in 1990 or rioted in the Bigg Market when we lost the title in 1996. How would you like to be judged the same as them though? I have very good mates who are Liverpool fans who I was actually referring to when you replied back giving them the tag 'murderers'. I think it's narrow-minded and insulting. As Ewerk says, what's wrong with referring to them as Scousers or Liverpudlians? Or does that not seem as 'hard'??

Next season's fixture list is out on Thursday at 10am, PLEASE don't post them on the board as we do not have the rights to list them and we could get a hefty fine if someone does. Posting a link to a site that does have the rights (NUFC.COM; BBC) is fine as is pointing out the odd game but the full list is not permitted. Thanks.

Defender?? Yes he is actually

I'm pretty sure that the rotating NUFC crest is one of the mobile phone wallpapers that the official site are flogging off at a ridiculous cost. Can someone confirm because if it is, it's getting removed.

Why do people have such a hard-on for wanting him to come out publically and state once and for all that he's staying?? He said a while back (couple of months) that he feels guilt towards the Newcastle fans and that he has to repay them. Surely that status hasn't changed?? He has a contract and until he states that he doesn't want to honour it any more, then he's still our player. He's not said that, nor has the club. All that Allardyce has alluded to is what we all suspected anyway, that a clause does exist. He doesn't say that Owen has asked for it to be exercised, nor has he stated that anyone's shown an interest. What he has said is there is nothing he can do to prevent him moving on should the clause be exercised and that is simply the facts. He's also outted Fat Fred as a fucking liar seeing as he said no clause ever existed. We all know the press fucking hated the fact that he came to us rather than Liverpool and they've been having a go at 'breaking us up' ever since. Fuck's sake, it's like having a relationship with someone you don't trust - every time something is said to make you doubt your partner, you're asking for them to re-affirm their commitment. All you end up doing is pissing them off to the point that they leave anyway. Michael Owen is our player - simple as.

Kubica was waiting at the light but I doubt very much their antics bothered him. They passed a red light - doesn't matter if it's faulty intrumentation and should have been green or not, it was red which means do not pass. Would love to have been a fly on the wall when they had to explain it to their respective teams. That one is totally down the the driver in my view.

Can I draw your attention to the second question you're told to ask yourself in here: http://70.85.186.86/albino_files007/posting(www.albinoblacksheep.com).swf And now you've taken notice.... http://www.toontastic.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1236 Oh look, it's a sticky!!!

Reminded me scarily of Gilles' fatal accident too but yeah, I can see the comparisons with Moore's accident. It wasn't so much the impact but the fact that the energy didn't seem to dissipate. Was pretty sure he was going to be in a bad way but to hear that he was talking within minutes was very, very welcome news. Reports this morning are suggesting that all he has is a sprained ankle and that the leg isn't actually broken. If that's true, he's a very lucky lad. Oh and can I take this opportunity to point out what a couple of retards Massa and Fisichella are?? If the light is red, you stay where you are..........muppets!

If he gets a good, injury-free run next season and starts banging in goals left right and centre, you lot who are saying 'get rid' will soon change your tune. Put yourself in his shoes for a second and in particular, remove your black and white specs for a second. 2 years ago, he signed for a club persuaded primarily by Shearer & Souness. 6 months later whilst out with a long term injury, the manager who signed him was sacked and a couple of months later, Shearer moved on to. He's just come back from injury to find the replacement manager has since also left. It's no wonder he's not been sure and remember, this was all pre-Ashley.
