  1. Yup, wanted the club who he played for and had won the cup only 3 years previously to win the cup ahead of the team who he had 'supported all his life' and who had gone 44 years without winning it. Said a hell of a lot.
  2. ?????????? But he was Man Utd's captain in that season. Of course he wanted to win the title? Is that all! He's got the comments right but the period wrong. It was the cup final in '99 IIRC
  3. What concerns me most about his comments is that IIRC, he'd recently signed a new contract with Brum when we sacked Robson with a £6m buy out clause. If it's true that we offered him the position then, with everything being done by the book, we'd have had to agreed a compensation fee with Birmingham before we could talk to him.
  4. Probably get 5 minutes right at the end. The match was not involving Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal!
  5. tbqh I'm rather glad we didn't go, as some people wanted us to, for Le Guen as our manager.
  6. You miserable lot all want to find jobs you enjoy!
  7. Great result considering the kids we're putting out. That being said I echo the comments that others are making in that I have far more confidence in Taylor, Huntingdon & Edgar than I do in Bramble, Babyaro & Carr. When the squad fitness improves we need to stick with these three - they've deserved their chance to develop further and we'll be better off as a result!
  8. So on the basis that Souness was dreadful (which no-one is denying), do you think that justifies the case that Bruce should have been appointed instead?
  9. Steve Bruce - no one loves you, we don't care.....
  10. Happy New Year to all - here's hoping that 2007 brings better fortunes for us all PS - no pissed up shenanigans later (Brock, TL & Radgi take note! )
  11. razor.... Well it was razored last time so I don't see the point in wussing out this time - just hope the shaving rash isn't as bad this time
  12. I reckon you should do a complete bald ie head shave, pits and have a back, sac n crack done. Oh and if you film it and post it here Im sure you'll get more sponsors Not a chance - my head being shaved is MORE than enough!
  13. Erm, how can I put this Craig.................. ............ No, better not I won't 'support' the club anymore (support in my definition being taking an active participation in going to games as opposed to being a 'fan') but it doesn't stop me wanting to see them do well. You can't erase 40 years just like that. I don't miss going to Old Trafford one little bit, I'm enjoying supporting FC United far more than I can ever remember following Man Utd but being honest I do desperately miss the away games amongst the 'real' supporters. Tomorrow will be extra hard as it's always a game I looked forward to. Maybe I'm being pig headed, I could get a ticket in Man Utd end no bother and I've had plenty of offers of tickets from my Mag supporting mates but it just wouldn't feel right. As I say, I'm probably being stupid & pigheaded but I'll sit in the bar being that most despised of people...... an 'armchair' fan I don't think you're pig headed at all - I admire the fact that you've stood by your morals when it's pretty obvious that a lot who claimed they were never going back did so very early on...
  14. Aye but teams will be well aware of Owen's/Martin's/Dyer's pace and can lie deep to eliminate through balls in the knowledge that we don't have a physical presence up front to lump the ball up to. I still think a big man/little man combination allows us much more room to vary tactics depending on the situation. Couldn't agree more....
  15. Sounds exactly like the reasons they flogged Gary Speed to us!
  16. akin to us swapping Bramble for Ronaldinho don't you think? Careful, you'll set tongues wagging on N-O. Surely even they wouldn't bite on that one?
  17. I know he's not everyone's favourite, but I'm particularly interested to see how Owen links up with Kieron Dyer. Owen's type of play has always thrived off pacy through balls and I reckon Dyer could well be the one to provide them.
  18. akin to us swapping Bramble for Ronaldinho don't you think?
  19. Seeing as you stated you'd never support Man Utd again FCUM, can we deduce that you'll be following the team in black and white?
  20. Sadly we're in a situation where our rival clubs know only too well that we're desperate for personnel and therefore they're bound to command higher transfer fees for their players I agree Beattie is worth between £3-4m but then the truth value of a player is the amount a club will sell him for. Interesting to see Liverpool being linked with Becks - can't see that one happening myself...
