Good to see Dyer contiuning to show the difference he can make to our season. And to be fair to our back 5, with 4 kids and aged keeper coming in out of the blue, there was a chance we'd concede a goal resulting from confusion at some point. Hopefully a Dyer or a Martins can snatch us a winner on the break later on!

Obviously we still don't know how good he'll end up being, but it was ludicrous how quick he was written off as being a complete waste of money by some people. As has been said before, the likes of Henry, Pires et al took a good year to adjust to the prem before showing what they could do, and they were older than Martins when they arrived. They also had another massive advantage over Martins, they came into a top team playing the right sort of football for them, Martins came into a struggling team playing at times completely the wrong way for him. He was always going to need some time, an improvement in the way we were playing and a goal or 2 for confidence and now he's flying.

I've been on holiday since the 15th, it doesn't make a difference, you either "Feel christmassy" or you don't! And i don't as i've never been bothered by it since i was a kid, i think its always been something for kids and adults who have kids to get the most out of.

Yeah we definitely had the ghost one, and seem to remember a witch being involved for fifth as well!

How dare you!!! I haven't seen much of what happened to the Sib since tv coverage rarely shows anything that (heaven forbid) could go against teams like Chelski, but he was one of many of our players who seemed to pushed in the back which as far as i'm aware is a foul. Agree with the people who've commented on refs and freekicks not taken from the right plcae and walls not moving back. But this is stuff fans have gone on about for years and could be sorted out in weeks, but won't as we are officiated by a bunch of spineless pricks. Its very simple, you count out 10 yards (and sadly this first part is beyond most refs), you get the wall to stand there. They don't, you book them, they still don't you send them off, job done. Next week you'll find any team you ref already lined up 10 yards away! And away from refs, i agree with people saying we were too negative, made the changes to late and could have made a bit more of the second half. I noticed people saying Dyer didn't do that much and one f the reasons was the tactics and where they had him playing, and alot of people seemed to think he was actually being used defensively to help double up on Robben etc. instead of being unleashe in attack. -

Have to disagree, Chelsea never looked the better team, on paper yes they should have murdered us but frankly they looked poor tonight. Spent half an hour in a pub with a Chelsea fan who wouldnt look me in the eye when I told him they didnt deserve the win. He had no comeback and just shrugged, even their fans know they're cheating bastards. They always have that extra "gear" though. Probably worth its own thread, but do people seriously believe referees are systematically biased against Newcastle (even when we're playing Watford at home for instance), or is it just a case of constant selective viewing and sour grapes from our fans? Either way, I'm getting sick of it. Since i criticise them win, lose or draw and in games not involving NUFC it has nowt to do with sour grapes! Anyone who denies they favour manu/arse/chelski etc. is living in a fantasy land i'm afraid because that is fact and was even shown when somebody carried out a 5 year study of all manu games. With NUFC instead of the myth that refs favour big crowds and noisy grounds (they don't outside the top 4) they actually seem to revel in deliberately going against vociferous crowds. Thats not just us, the mackems don't get much from refs when they had big crowds, neither do the smogs (such as their big crowds are) or man city, Leeds etc. The rule for prem refs is: manu/arse > Chelski/Liverpool > probably London club like Spurs > most other teams > teams near the bottom of the league So no, i don't think there is a litteral vendetta of refs against us, if i believed that we would have to give up football! But they are shite, they are biassed, they are gutless and take the easy option and they massively favour/go against certain clubs and players alot of the time. Well, that's just pure bollocks imo. But we'll discuss it another day perhaps, you need your sleep. You seriously don't think manu/arse get more decisions than teams around the bottom of the prem, i'm afraid there'd be no point discussing that as i can't believe you don't see that. And you just have to watch any match to see refs taking the easy option where possible, fouls to the defensive team in the box rather than risk a goal and comment after, don't book a player a second time even when deserved as a red would be controvertial, give decsions in the middle of the park but ignore the very same offence on the edge of the box and countless other examples. We'll never agree because you think refs have virtually no effect on results ever, whereas i think they are the most important person on the ptich as they have a say in every single incident in a football match, something no player or manager can achieve. We'll discuss it on saturday after the Spurs match when the ref has denied us 17 clear pens and allowed Spurs to score twice from offside positions (ina 3-2 win for us of course!) -
Didn't quite work out! Instead i ended up extremely angry and pissed off after the match, so happy birthday me! Just the way you like it. Have to get "the rage" out sometimes and i've chosen football!

Don't criticise the fans if you weren't there, unless you want me to absolutely lace-ify you. I'm nota paki, as well you know. PL, birthday boy, were you there? Naturally! The last time i missed a game was under Jim Smith and one anglo italian cup match under Keegan, therefore i am right on any issue when arguing with anybody who misses games Shame my birthday ended with a match won by that shower of bastards! -

I know what you mean, Nobby must have morphed into Martin Johnson as at one point he managed to send Drogba flying to the ground with barely a shoulder charge/body check, which considering Drogba's size is an amazing feat! Unless of course he's just a cheating twat! -

Robben could have not spent the entire game doing what he always does and cheating, the fact that the major incident may have been a foul doesn't hide what else he got up to. As for the crowd shouting at the ref, they tend to do that when he spends 90 mins giving fouls everytime a chelsea player hits the deck whilst ignoring similar incidents on our players. -

It wasn't a goal ffs. There isn't one replay that shows it as being over the line because it wasn't. Agree about Dyer though, he was poor tonight. Chris Foy was a fucking joke tonight. That was one of the worst refereeing performances in terms of protecting the big team. Stick him on the list with Ronaldo and Robben for a Gemmill Reducer. I'll pay you whatever you ant to take anyone of them out with a "Gemmill special" Seriously though, all these diving little twats should first be told that oposition players can mark them under 1970's rules on tackling and then if they can still walk, they can serve a 3 match ban for cheating in rugby union where they will see what happens when real men tackle them properly! But as you say that ref was the eptiome of premiership refereeing and everything that is wrong with them. -

That's over in my book. I'd love to go through history and show all the cases of over the line incidents that would never be a patch on that GOAL was,but ive got to get me next drink. For that to be over you'd need to see the entire sphere of the ball to the left of the bar. You can't. One question: was it a foul on Robben or did the little fucker dive? I've said it before on here, but I would love someone to just spend a match kicking lumps out of him. Really give him something to cry about the little minge-faced shitey arse. I hope somebody snaps his fucking legs in two next time he plays, its what players like him are asking for and what they deserve. But he was far from on his own as they had a team of diving little shits who hit the deck non stop and sat back and watched the ref give them a freekick everytime like a good little boy doing what he's told by the top clubs. The game followed the usual pattern of ignore a foul/incident against us, go up the other end of the pitch and give them a freekick. I haven't seen the post match interviews but i'm assuming Mourinho came out and called Robben a diving little cunt, i mean after having such a go at Andy Johnson he must be consistent! We'll never be rid of diving and feigning injury because most of the very worst offender play fo the top clubs so it will continue to be allowed. If all the divers were at Watford, Sheff utd. and Charlton the problem would be sorted by now by refs, but they aren't by and large playing for those clubs, so fuck all will be done. -
How about if they did a heroin flavoured bean, you'd have no chance then!

Think Sky are showing it -
But for the hair (i think Manc Mag may have mentioned it, though i'm not sure!) i would look younger! To be fair mate, it's only on those pics. I was struck by it cos it's nowhere near that grey in real life. They do say that the camera can add 10 pounds, 10 years and make you look drunk though-or in my case all three. I was thinking the same as you though, knew it was there but not quite that bad!

Would have worked better with say Given, Baba/Carr and Milner to give: The good, the bad and the ugly! -
The fact that they now have a fixture pileup heading their way is good enough!
