  1. Great point. Not one pundit has said, "well it happened against Newcastle on Wednesday so they deserve their bit of luck" or whatever. Much as a i hate Rennie and would be happy to see him demoted, the Brum one was far, far worse. The player was further offisde than Parker and physically obstructed Given from moving, rather than just getting in his line of vision. So if they're going to be consistent then the ref or linesman from the Brum game should suffer at least the fate of Rennie. Why is it Rennie and not the linesman getting done? Surely it's his job, not Rennie's to call offsides? (Or did he flag and get overruled?) It seemed from BBC commentary that the linesman flagged offside and Rennie overruled, but i couldn't confirm that.
  2. I liked Frankie Boyle's assessment of Braveheart/Mel Gibson on Mock The Week, when he said: "People thought Mel Gibson would never make a convincing Scotsman, but look at him now...an alcoholic racist!"

  4. Yeah I read that too. She's also lost out on a couple of contracts apparently. Jo's also had a gig at G.A.Y cancelled too. Hope it keeps going like this and when they come out they realise how much they're in the shit, because the 2 remaining bitches are probably too think to realise its not just Jade who's in for it and think they've escaped! Yeah I hate think people Or people who can't type and don't bother to check before they post!

  6. Seems to be, but you hope he doesn't suffer the same luck as Henman. When he was at his best he had a freak in Sampras stopping him winning wimbledon, and Murray could suffer the same fate with Federer. One advantage he has over Henman is that whilst Tim would have won wimbledon but for Sampras, he never looked likely to win any of the other grand slams, whereas Murray looks like he'll be in with a chance at any of them!
  7. Yes, he's just broken Nadal again, so he's looking very British at the moment!
  8. Everone knows that a billion people watch the Oscars. The World Cup Final only attracts 600million. Star Wars geeks will keep going back to anything related to it tbh. Lucas could piss on their shoes and they'd still go to watch episode 7 if it ever happened. And I see what you're saying. At least in the UK, there are far more people passionate about football than are comaparably passionate about film. HTT was just talking crap by suggesting a directors talent wasn't an important enough issue to warrant a thread. I'm sure episode 7 will happen when Lucas' fortune dips below the dangerous 1 billion level, and i'm sure it'll be as bad if not worse than the recent ones! And i agree with you about directors importance, they're far and away the most important person on a film, change director and you get a completely different film.
  9. Many people travel great distances to catch limited release films, classics and rarities. They'll watch anything and everything by a director or star and people were more than a little depressed when George Lucas started fucking with their childhood memories. Just because you or I aren't like that, doesn't mean other people can't get more out of film than football. I don't think there's thousands of people every week and also midweek travelling to see rare films though! Also i doubt the canne film festival quite matches the attendace figures and worldwide audience of the world cup! Also those that have a massive problem with Lucas either stopped watching the star wars films, or ignore those 3 as if they didn't happen! And will probably avoid what he does in future. If our chairman or manager completely fucks up over we still keep going and going to watch shite as NUFC means far more to us than films fo to a bunch of geeks and we could never let it go! But i do agree there are some people who don't like football who get far more from films.
  10. Its ok, i don't think any of us have ever thought of you as a superfan! You can criticise who the hell you like but when people are in disagreement with you then they can criticise you. Also you didn't just despise Robert, you spent matches at St. James counting exactly how many things he did wrong, rather than say, support him and the team which is quite disturbing really!
  11. How does football have any more meaning than pure entertainment? It's a diversion for the working classes who can't afford the theatre. You're saying it's not worth discussing because it's not real, how has that got anything to do with it. Tarantino's talent and ability to satisfy the viewer (or lack of it) is just as debateble as Scott Parker's. I know you love your films, and quite rightly but you can't seriously be trying to say football doesn't have more meaning to people that films!!! I would never travel the length of the country and back for an important film, i wouldn't pay to see a film every other week regardless of who was in it/directed it, i wouldn't be utterly depressed if a big film turned out to be shite and if my favourite film lost out on the oscar to a film from Sunderland!!! I could keep stretching the metaphor (albeit badly!) but the fact remains football is as has been said before, almost a matter of life and death to some people, films aren't. Also do you really think football is cheaper than the theatre these days? And you're making quite a strange statement to think people only go to football because they can't afford the theatre!!! I mean St. James' is hardly full of people going: "God i wish i was at the theatre Royal watching Romeo and Juliet instead of this shite!"
  12. You weren't watching the same game as me then. Dyer was appalling. All he did was pass backwards all game or return the ball to the person who passed it to him. He bottled everything. This is obviously how he intends to remain fit - just jog around all afternoon and never get involved. When did he give the ball away. His running off the ball created space and particularly in the second half I thought he played a key role. I have my suspicions of who you are with your 36 posts. Posts a lot less now Robert has gone. Seems Dyer is the new Robert for him. No doubt spent the entire match counting exactly how any times Dyer passed backwards, like he counted Robert's errors!
  13. Its not the only reason we have struggled at the back, but the sheer volume of injuries and the conctant having to change back fours has played a massive part. If you have 4 pretty average defenders but they play together week in week out they will form an understanding and become more of a unit and will be alot more effective than players who don't know who they'll be playing alonside, or where they'll be playing each week! If we pick our best back fours there will be differences obviously, but whatever we went for, if they were settled and not constantly changed by injury they would do a better job than what's happened this season.
  14. The day they chuck an Italian or Spanish club out for an offence is the day i'll give them any credit, but it'll never happen so i won't have to!
  15. I missed that, but i would have enjoyed it if i'd seen it, the diving little prick that he is!
  16. reminds me, where's RobW got to? Probably gone back in time to help build Stonehenge. That's dangerous as he might bump into himself from the first time he was there when it was built!
  17. They've even called the clip Footless n Fancyfree! Not that i watched it of course!
  18. He started anythign decent we did with the ball, when Given finally realised passing it to Nobby is better than humping it up to our small strikeforce. He was also the only defender who was doing any sort of job at the back early on when we gave them goals and was stopping their attacks with well timed cynical fouls instead of everyone elses method of letting players roll past you or just not marking them! And he was one of the few at the back who seemed to be helping others by actually talking to them, because our team must'nt be speaking to each other the way they leave each other exposed by never giving anyone a shoit! Thought we looked better at the back when Edgar came on than we had been before. It was the fouls I had a problem with. I thought he was lucky not to get sent off, especially with that unpredictable fat bastard man as referee. Also, I think he is just too slow for a full back, miles better than Carr though! That's what i like about Nobby, as soon as he gets a yellow, he doesn't take risks by chopping people down anymore, but if you don't book him, he does what good defenders do...keeps on fouling! He obviously wouldn't be first choice RB at a team going for the top 4 etc. But i like him there, and with another expereinced and class defender at CB and a better LB i think he's fit in quite nicely to be honest. With Rennie i actually thought he had a respectable first half, yes he was stopping the game too often, but he wa spotting the fouls and gving them both ways. The as usual he lost the plot! Every single time we had a corner he'd blow his whistle for a foul in the box, when we had freekicks he counted out 5 yards one time and stopped, did a pirroutte and then pointed at a random spot for the wall to stand. The second time the entire crowd counted out for him and he deliberately stopped at 9 because he's a cunt!
  19. Seem to remember hearing a few tapes of them when i was young! Songs called things like "Felatio Nelson" and one about "Chester Zoo" as well for some reason! And some spoof of eye of the tiger about shitting through the eye of a needle!
  20. Much better than Zola, had Signori played in the Premiership, he'd have scored a truck load, Shevchenko = poor man's Signori, more like. I used to love watching Serie A in them days, the matches were often boring but the big stars always shone like Signori, Batistuta, Baggio, that AC Milan team was awesome, Inter had that Uruguayan, with the white boots, jesus forgot his name, he was a class player though, Balbo I liked him for Roma, I even remember Lazio winning 8-3 once in a crazy game, great saturday morning telly with the legend that is James Richardson, then on sunday the big match and formula one, followed by sunday dinner. Happy days. Was it not Daniel Fonseca? There was also Reuben Sosa (think that was the name), but i'm not sure if he was Uruguayan!
  21. There's something I don't get about this...why have you been waxing your legs!
  22. Or, is it strikers we need...lets have a debate!
  23. He started badly, with his first 2 crosses going nowhere, but in the second half he got more involved, put ina really good cross and a really intelligent ball inside for Martins. So hopefully that's a good sign and at home he's a far better option on the wing than Patterson.
  24. Come the end of the season, the amount of points we will have dropped at home to teams that are lets be fair, utter shite will be a disgrace! Today against a team who get hammered away from home, rarely score and have no confidence we give them a 2 goal headstart! At any point if we'd taken the lead they would have collapsed and been given a hammering even if we weren't playing that well, but we pissed that away in no time!
  25. To be honest i didn't pay much attention to Ferdinand but whenever we attacked their defence looked utter shite, sadly so did ours! Then towards the end Ferdinand went of with an injury, which i think somebody said was a hamstring injury, so hopefully that'll end any interest from us in pissing money away on him!
