1. surely people who want a debate, don't edit people's posts though ? 150326 I'M EDITING YOUR POSTS YOU CRAZY OLD MAN. 150328
2. Isn't that all part and parcel of being a punk tho, to throw things, spit on people and jump up and down on each other heads whilst trying to dis-entangle your safety pins and beer towels ??? 150303 Was it Joe Strummer who during a gig was unfortunate enough to have somebody's spit fly into his mouth and end up cathcing a ddisease or soemthing from it? I'm sure it happened to some well know punk frontman. 150312 Think that's what is commonly known as an urban myth... 150315 Well i got it from a tv interview featuring either the person involved himself or band member/crew member who was present, though its from ages ago so i don't remember it well! 150317 No idea then...thought it might be just one of those " and one time at band camp" stories... 150320 Mind you, i wouldn't rule out the fact that i'm confusing that "urban myth" with some other genuine story a band was talking about thats actually true, my memory fluctuates wildly from amazing to abysmal! 150324 I think this calls for some research on your part....would be interesting to find out if it's true...I could ask Baz Warne if he knows anything ?? 150327 I've had a quick look on the net and can't find anythign relating to Joe Strummer like that. So either its somebody else or i've completely mixed up an urban myth with soem real story which i can't remember the details of!

5. To be fair whilst this arguing on here often becomes pointless as people say (or avoid) the same things over and over. Its all kept in this thread and the occasional other short lived one, so its not doing any harm and when the footy season starts again we can get back to more Bellamy threads and arguments over Shepherd!

7. Throughout his career he's a had a reputation for being a "freekick expert" yet he seems to score about 1 in 30 which to be fair is a ratio i'd fancy my chances of beating!
8. A good shot though none the less, if only their strikers were as accurate 150293 True, if he was indeed at the back, he covered the dustance well to make an eye shot!
9. Why does he expect Sundralnd to ever get a mention, exactly what would they get a mention for??? And how stupid do you have to be to turn up to a punk gig in Newcastle wearing mackem tops!!! The equivalent in Sunderland with their bitterness would have seen far worse happen. However that still doesn't excuse some prick from chucking the bottle and he is right about one thing, they were a spineless little tosser who didn't have the guts to go to the front and face him, relyign on chucking a bottle from a safe distance.
10. He didn't get the ball, but under the rules they've currently brought in for this world cup for reckless lunging tackles the ref could have given a red even if he did touch the ball.
11. That Brazillian defence is there for the taking for the top teams, the Aussies cut through them on several occasions but couldn't finish. Thought the ref today was one of those who are a bit star struck by the Brazillians reputation and was a bit keen to give them freekicks.
12. I have no idea what money is available but we should be looking to make 3 big/decent size signings and augment that with cheaper players who are either young and up and coming or older and have a couple of years left, combined with using loa ndeals and trying to spot a decent free tranfer somewhere. But when have NUFC ever made good use of loan deals, experienced players for reasonable fees or up and coming youngsters before they cost too much? We already had a squad lacking in depth and we've now lost Shearer, Chopra and Bowyer and Clarkie is semi-retired, with the hope we'll also lose Faye, Butt and Boom. That leaves a large hole to fill in our squad so we have to see some intelligent wheeling and dealing to get our squad up to scratch.
13. I'd say because in general they always spoil the skilfull football they are capable of with alot of diving, feigning injury, trying to get players booked and cynical/dirty play as well as a negative and dull approach to football (as shown in them failing to go after a team with 9 men!!!) They've produced some players i've been a massive fan of but collectively i can't stand them on the whole. I agree with you though that all 3 reds were deserved and thought the ref showed alot of courage to make big decisions like he did. He got the disallowed goal right as well even if i wish he hadnt! 150230 I agree that they've been awful to watch for quite some time now and that catennacio football spoils the game. But to be fair to them, Lippi has addressed that and tried to change it and they looked good going forward in the Ghana match. The bit about Italian teams not scoring enough goals has become a bit of a cliché - not only the national team seems to have changed a bit, but Serie A as well. 150234 I think in the first game they did attack a bit more than in the past, but against 9 men, who would be knackered and struggling to hold a formation they should have been coming at them in waves full of pace, width and desire to attack and yet they played like they were comfortably ahead and barely gave a toss. And England or Spain, Argentian etc. etc. would have battered the 9 men for 45 mins and would have beaten them, though the performance of the USA was outstanding, because 9 men is incredibly hard to organise into a formation to hold out for a whole half of football. I can't see their attack scoring enough goals and there defence doesn't look like an Italian defence of old so i'd exect the better teams to deal with them.

15. Fantastic effort from the USA side, not only did they hold out with 9 men they took the game to Italy and attacked them evens coring (though it was rightly disallowed). The USA deserve alot of credit for that effort and the Italians don't look anything to be worried about really.
16. Same old Italians, disgracefull elbo that could have shattered the blokes nose or caved his face in. Then a stupid tackle by the USA player to cancel out the man advantage they had. Initially i thought it should be a red but when you see the replay he basically hits the italian player's ankle with both feet and its reckless. USA have played really well though and would like to see them beat the italians second half.
17. I think back last season he was right baout the discrepancy between Chelsea versus manu/arse when it came to playing home or away after CL matches. But he's just doing the right thing for his club, get a pre-emptive whinge in on the off chance it may get them to give him some favourable fixtures and if not he can then sit back and say he was right they are victimised (in his mind at least!) Also the other thing you can guarentee is that one or more of the promoted teams will face most of the previous seasons top 6 within their first few games. Even though its apparently random!
18. It'll be a strange experience for the likes of footballers having large crowds booing them, but it must be a very weird thing for a normal member of the public to walk through a crowd and feel such pure hatred!!!
19. That sounds a bit too much like sensible thinking to me, and that has no place at NUFC!!! Plus he probably was holding off the risk of an op till the last minute in case Sven gave him a call to cover for Rooney
20. Aye Andy Townsend was saying the same. It's pathetic man, it's open season on Owen at the minute. Andy Townsend has never had a bad word to say about Owen in the past, but he's straight on the bandwagon first time opinion turns against him slightly. 149835 Exactly, don't use your brains and think for yourself, jump onto something other people are saying no matter how pointless. At which point will they wake up and realise that Owen (on his own admission when last interviewed) isn't a Rooney kind of player. His job is to make well timed runs into goal scoring positions and score goals to win matches and he does it better than most. If he stopped doing what he did to help the team they'd bollock him for being to unselfish and not getting in where it counts to use his finishing ability.
21. I've pretty much avoided any of this series but whatever i see they seem to be a bunch of childish, annoying wankers! But if theres one group of people worse than an annoying bunch of childish nonentities...its people who's life (and heads) are so empty they travel to the BB studios to go and cheer/boo and chant at a group on annoying nonentities as if it were the biggest event in the country!
22. I always worry when any toon player who has been plagued by an injury is told they don't need a op after all becuse you can bet your life later on down the line they'll have played far from their best due to the injury and will end up having the op and being out ages anyway!
23. Like some others, I don't find it is exclusively kids, there are quite a number of older people who don't have manners either. It seems to be just anyone. I usually either say nowt, or just say "thank you" to them myself. 149820 I know what people mean about old people who can be just as bad, but its mainly kids and teenagers who get on my tits and bother me to any degree, rather than old people.
24. Agree with what Gemmil has said. Only an idiot would start Crouch ahead of Owen in a world cup, it would be ludicrous. Theres no use Sven blaming Owen and continually taking him of when the service consists of aimless punts up field instead of incisive football. As soon as Rooney is there he will improve out style, shape and gameplan and people will see a marked improvement in Owen. If England want to win the world cup, when it comes to the tight games in later rounds it's Owen's goals we will need, he is our proven world class goal scoere at every level throughout his career.
25. Its getting worse and worse with every year as more and more kids are brought up by feckless parents who don't teach them manners and don't correct bad behaviour. Throw in the boom in Charvers (the first time in the history of the world that human evolution has went backwards) and you have no chance of it ever getting better really!
