Unfortunately due to the position we've left ourselves in, we're not going to be able to make the signing that will totally excite everyone. But getting someone 'over the line' is a must and Gomis has a pretty decent record so I'd be pretty happy to see this done. Hopefully we can get another forward in too and then we can let Campbell go out on loan and develop the way they are saying Dummett has.

Just added Eastbound and Down to the list of American comedies that I've started watching (along with It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, Veep, Parks & Recreation and Arrested Development). Enjoyed the firt series, it's pretty juvenile but then again so am I!

You think we have better players than Lyon? I think strikers in the premiership generally score more than those in France. That's what I'd be hanging my hopes on rather than him playing with better players.
-
They needed to meet him to be unimpressed? The rest of the world was unimpressed by him years ago!
-
Sorry bad choice of words by me. I was talking about an allegation. If QPR haven't used him in their friendlies (which I'm sure I read somewhere) and they're in the process of buying Austin, I can't imagine he's really in their plans for the season (I'm sure they aren't in his) so I can't see why old saggy chops would have a problem with loaning him out. What's the point in them paying his wages when we could do it and give them a fee. Mind you, we probably won't offer to pay his whole wage!

Is this rape charge being mentioned by anyone but fans? I can't remember reading about it anywhere and you would think that the journo's would be talking it up if they thought there was anything in it.

Should hammer them with that team.
-
Aye I was going to say that about him playing more on the right but I lost interest as I was typing. It's also a good point about the balance of the team which why it's mainly the best teams who can utilise a number 10.
-
Ben Arfa has looked like a far more productive member of the team on right like. I would say that playing there gives him quite a bit of freedom but he also seems to link in best with the team there. I understand what other people are saying with regards to the attributes he has to play as a number 10 and he may well have played that role succesfully in France, but with us he's shown far more on the right.

I can't see any sense in us going back to 4-4-2 with the players we have or even assuming we sign a new striker or two. We just don't have any wingers of quality to get the ball into the box for them. To me we need to come up with something that makes use of Tiote, Cabaye (assuming we keep the pair of them and they get back up to their best), Sissoko and Ben Arfa whilst not leaving Cisse isolated. Some sort of 4-3-1-2 is possibly the way to go with Ben Arfa as the one. This puts a lot of pressure on Santon and Debuchy to provide width but arguably attacking is their major strengths.

A bit of Albertini and Boban wouldn't go amiss too!
-
I think he'd be safe on such an occasion. The Milan team that had those players in it was from another world, it's probably the only other team I've ever supported.
-
Niang is probably the best player I've ever had at Newcastle on FM and I was surprised to see him actually looking like he's a good player in real life for Milan too. Can't see Milan sanctioning a permanent deal so soon after signing him like.
-
Will definitely be going to this like. This is exactly the sort of thing you want from a testimonial game these days (tbf I don't think anyone would get behind a testimonial for a premiership player if he was pocketing the money himself anymore). Can't wait to see the likes of Baresi, Maldini and Costacourta.

It's not intricacies at all. He doesn't play in that position anymore. Either that's Pardews choice or it's him adjusting his game for one reason or another. If it's Pardews then he must have no faith in him there so that still comes back to fact that we need a winger.

Unfortunately Santon isn't as good as either of those players you mention. Also I don't know about Pearce at Forest but Bez had the likes of Sellars and Ginola ahead of him when he was here. Both of which were much greater attacking threats than Jonas.
-
I know I have!
-
I said he doesn't play as a winger any more which I stand by. At best he plays as a wide defensive minded midfielder, that's not the same as a winger. And I never said that Obertan wasn't a winger. Being shite is enough of a reason to discount him so would it not have been enough if I labeled Jonas the same?
-
Isn't he the striker Birmingham had on load a few years ago? Someone was else was linkied with him earlier this summer. I was worried you were going to say we were signing him. This is obviously worse news. RIP.
-
Aye matches, in the pub for matches or playing football/some other physical activity is really they only time they should be worn outside the house.
-
I never once saw him play that role last season. He may have been our wide midfielder but all he wanted to do was defend (either that or that was the instruction he was given). He doesn't try to beat his man either to get in to the box or get a cross in like a winger should. Like Scoobos I'll always give him credit for his workrate but he's not doing the job of a winger (it could be argued that he was never particularly great at that role anyway and even if he was playing like he used to in front of Ricky, we should have still been looking to upgrade).

I agree it's not that bad at all. But I disagree with your second point. Personally I gave up buying the strips years ago when I realized it was stupid to just buy any shite they put out because it was my clubs strip (the one with the shield on the back was the last one I got). There had been some good strips since then and some shite ones but I just don't want to spend the money on buying one any more when I could spend that money on getting pissed. I don't begrudge anyone who wants to wear one but I don't see why we should buy them regardless just to show their support especially at the prices they charge for something that costs peanuts to make. Some effort in making it decent should always be made.

Cisse doesn't seem to have a problem with gambling anyway so that shouldn't be an issue!

Dogshite, no good on the wing, no longer plays as a winger, a striker, not really a winger but certainly the best player we have there, not a footballer and never going to be a premiership player (not this season at very least). A winger should be a priority if we want to progress but if I'm honest I never expected it to be this summer and I really don't think Ashley is bothered in the slightest about us progressing for the reasons I've stated above.
