Dont name the thread 'Transfer' then. I think the club needs to hold its nerve here. There is no way i want to see Nolan who is already slow as fuck on big wages for another 4 seasons. 2015 he will not be in the starting 11 so anyone thinking they should be paying him in 2015 what he is earning now, doesnt have a clue imo. Agree with this like although he is an important player for us at the moment and if we end up losing him and Barton on and end up having to play Gutherie and Ryan Taylor we're fucked!
-
I can't think of any likely options in England, like you say Warnock woudln't necessarily be a bad shout although he's considerably weaker than Ricky. Hopefully our super scout can find someone abroad!
-
I think Warnock would be a canny signing actually DK. One of those signings that will need to be replaced thought. Only a short term fix and for that reason i would hope we looked elsewhere. Konchesky is a no go for me. Just dont rate him. Never have. Think that's you, me and every other football fan who's ever seen him in agreement there then!
-
I think Warnock or (shudders at the thought) Konchesky are for likely targets for us unfortunately.
-
It's the attitude that would concern me. The two most comparable signings we've made are Kluivert and Owen. Both of them massive names who'd achieved so much in their careers (Kluivert obviously more so than the scouse wanker) and neither of them having much interest in us and so put none of the required effort in.
-
Quite simply we wouldn't pay the wages he'd be after. I would also say that I'm not convinced he'd be a good signing for us. We've tried signing players from europes top clubs in the past and where has that got us? Kluivert, Owen, Butt and Smith have all came from such teams recently and Butt was comfortably the biggest success here out of all of them. Im not saying I wouldnt get caught up in the excitement of it and I'm not saying Newcastle united shouldnt be aiming for top players but really, ones on a downward trajectory wont do us much good.
-
As long as we give them new contracts!
-
Well, according to CT, he's great and going to just as good a buy as Tiotte, because he hopes that will be the case. I think the lads credentials / stats / importance to Lille and their fans...... is there for everyone to see......if they want to. Bit like Barton perhaps?
-
Can I just point out that the article doesn't say he's signed but rather he's agreed to and even then there's no quotes from the club.

All completely true but its still ball bouncingly funny -
In some ways I can't wait for him to go. I think he is a player who will speak his mind and tell us the truth about what is going on there.
-
No one has seen this lad who we're supposed (we've all heard this before) to be signing play and a lot of us haven't seen much or anything of the other two either. What we do know is that Jose won't come to the table and that seems to be due to him seeing the clubs ambitions being less than his own. Barton isn't getting a new contract because we won't pay the wages to secure proven premiership quality. Nolan still hasn't signed a contract despite it supposedly being code months ago. And now Pardew is saying we might not be able to hold onto the likes of Jonas or Colo. Oh and rumours are still abound that Tiote is on his way to Chelski. So to recap, we would like to sign some players from France who may be good but probably won't sign and if we did may or may not be an improvement on what we currently have, but would probably take time to adapt to us and the league. And we are struggling to keep a hold of our best players. If we held on to the our best players and added these three then I would be overjoyed but I would be more than willing to bet a tonne with anyone that this won't happen and it will be far more likely that we'll end up losing Ricky and Barton and replacing them with the likes of Larson and bothroyd.

Hangover 2 - basically the same film again with some stupider bits but still very funny and more than worth going to see -
We don't know that yet, we will after this summer though. History suggests we do know that though. Milner, Given, Nzogbia, Martins, Bassong etc. Has the considerable amount of money brought in from these players ever been spent on the squad? No it doesn't IMO, it went into the pot and went towards the operating costs of the club in the years in question (where we still made huge losses even with those sums received). Different financial landscape at the club now. The surplus (which we should have) either goes back into the squad or reduces Ashley's exposure, this time there's no need to "cover" operating losses (if we are, in fact, breaking even). We'll see. I disagree on the basis that almost everything that Ashley/Lambias have done since they've been here has been underhand and covered with lies. This makes me distrust everything they say!
-
Is the correct answer. But will the club see it that way?
-
Some peoples interpretation of net spend is genius like I think probably the lower end of ten to fifiteen million will be about right. We desperately need two new strikers for the starting eleven just to have a decent chance. If Enrique goes we'll need a new left back too. Simpson and Taylor/Williamson could do with being upgraded to move us forward but aren't desperate. Then we need a bit more padding. God knows what net spend would be needed but 2 stikers of sufficent quality would cost about twenty million straight away.

You should never underestimate the importance of experience for a keeper, it's why most of them don't peak until theyre getting on for thirty. Krill is likely to keep making mistakes (he's certainly made more than that one yesterday this season) until he matures as a keeper which is something Harper does a lot less of. Also Krul doesn't seem to make many saves. There's not many shots that have gone past him that I have thought he should have got to (and I can't make my mind up as to whether he's doing something wrong which is causing so my deflections to go past him) but he just doesn't seem to be stopping much. I was very keen for him to get a run in the side earlier this term because he's looked a top prospect and thinking for the future, you'd think we'd be much better off with him and Forster in the squad than Harper who will only have a few top flight seasons left. But the thing that his time in the team showed to me was that Harper is currently the more reliable choice.
-
Could never understand why Portsmouth fans took to Grant. He's shown no sign at all of being capable of managing any football club whatsoever let alone a premiership one. Glad the cocknaey cunts are down and hope Wigan go with them!
-
With the three keepers, Colo, Nolan, Barton, Tiote, Jose, Jonas, Ben Arfa, we do have the basis of a good team but we have to add to them (and keep them, which we won't with Jose) to make a god team! We played really well anyway today, full credit to every one of them for giving their all when we had nothing to play for. They pulled on the big guns and we still kept pace!
-
TBF I was impressed with Ferguson today although Jonas was better!
-
Krul is a mile better than Harper. Learnin sure, but will keep on getting better and better. Don't be fucking stupid. Krul has potential but to say he's currently better than Harper is nothing short of ridiculous.

£15m would be a joke but not unexpected. Personally I hate Charlie boy. He's an absolute twat and would rather him not here.
