  1. I saw him play his last game and he was the oldest looking thirty year old I've ever seen.
  2. The spuds fans actually got something spot on this afternoon. Ryan taylor played an awfull ball (I think it may have actually supposed to have been for Owen) and they started singing That's why your going down. And taking all of the off the field stuff to one side, that's spot on. We are going down because we don't have a single player who can pass a ball. And how can we expect anyhing from a poacher like Owen if we can't play simple passes and create anything for him. It would be great if he were the type of playe who could create for himself but he's not and certainly hasn't been ever since he lost his pace. Keegan realised last season that with a 4-4-2 our players cannot create enough chances for him and went with him Martins and Viduka up front. Shearer seems to have picked up on this too but Martin's injury has prevented him from trying it until the second half today. Hopefully he will stick with it for the rest of the games.
  3. reverting back to the Owen, Viduka, Martins combination was the right thing to do aside of Carrols performance last week, this is the best combination we have, in fact its the only combination. If we don't win next monday night, we are going down. This. Defeat today is never going to be the thing that drops us, we showed in the second half that we have something to fight for and I would say three wins will be enough. I'm not convinced we will get those three wins but today hasn't changed anything.
  4. Blackburn didn't have a single shot on target today. Perhaps fatty can do something right for us yet!
  5. Lakeview Terrace 7/10. Pretty good and an excellent performance from Jackson, not his usual over the top shite that he's been doing far too long now.
  6. Class car but two shit paint jobs.
  7. Zack & Miri Make A Porno 7.5/10. Is this a Rom Com? Not up there with Smith's best efforts but still a lot funnier than most out there. Glad he didn't drag out the will they or won't they get back together in favour of the Dutch Rudder!
  8. I've been saying that for ages. When was the last time we won three home games in a row? And when you look at our results this season we failled to take full points from any of Blackburn, Wigan, Hull, Stoke, Wist am, the scum, citeh or everton (ok the last two we played a significant part of the game down to ten men) and struggled to beat Spurs, Bolton and West Brom (comfortably the weakest team in the league). The only game we have won and looked good was against Villa. You can look at the run ins of the likes of Hull, the scum and the kidde fiddlers and wonder where the points will come from we look no better. I can see a record low points keeping teams up this season but I fear it won't be us.
  9. Out Of The Past 8/10. One of Robert Mitchum's best films In The Heat Of The Night 7/10. Red River 8/10. One of Wayne's finest.
  10. THX 1138. 4/10 Shite. The Glass Key 8.5/10. Brilliant noir that was basically remade by the Coens for their masterpiece Millers Crossing. Murder My Sweet 8.5/10. Another brilliant noir.
  11. The Player 9/10. I watched it years ago when I was about fifteen and didn't really think much of it. What a tit I was as this is an absolutely brilliant film. I'm not a massive fan of Altman but this probably just beats out The Long Goodbye as my favourite of his. Great stuff. Monsters vs Aliens 7.5/10. Thoroughly enjoyable although not as much fun as Bolt for me. Seth Rogans B.O.B. was class though.
  12. This. It just shows how bad our midfield has been that we even considered him let alone that a lot (me included) were pretty happy with us signing him. It's a disgrace how much our midfield has been ignored since Robson was sacked. The most important position in the team (Liverpool are in contention for the league and champions league mainly because of one great midfielder) and we've had five managers who haven't addressed it. That's as big a reason why our team is so shit as anything else!
  13. No, they aren't to blame for the shit we're in. Ashley is the guy in control. the buck stops with him. All I'm arguing is that their actions made the club's situation worse. There's no getting away from that. I don't even mind people saying they can understand why Keegan and Given left etc...it's when they are also held up as having no choice, or having the best interests of the club at heart that I disagree. I couldn't agree more what they did was motivated by their own best interests. They had a choice and did what was best for them and I don't blame them for doing it. They haven't helped our situation when they could have. They don't deserve praise for anything other then being our best manager and keeper for a generation. I bare them no animosity but they didn't do what they did for the best interests of the club.
  14. Keegan's decision to leave left us in the shit. Given decision to leave left us further in the shit. Neither of them would have wanted to leave had that fat wanker not lied so much and run the club like it was his intention to take us down. Whatever Kinnear, Labia and Wise have done has been under Ashley's instructions. He was incompetant, he employed further incompetant people and wouldn't/couldn't spend what was required in any of the transfer windows since he's been here. Whatever you think of Keegan and Given's reasons for leaving (personally I recognise their decisions have hurt us so wish they hadn't made them, but I can't blame them for making them as if I was in their shoes I wouldn't want to be part of this fucking nightmare) they arn't to blame for this.
  15. I really do love Stevie's rants and I worry that I agree with quite a bit of it. On the media aspect though is it not as much because we have made so many monumental fuck up's both on an off the pitch (Hall and the fat man in a brothel, losing a 12 point lead at the top, Bowyer and Dyer (on and off the pitch), Keegan, Asheley & Wise etc), as it is becuase of any positive reasons?
  16. The fact that Jonas has four assists this season means nothing to me when I witness the complete drivel I see from that player each time I watch him. He seems to have gone downhill all season and I see no light at the end of the tunnel after Saturdays game. Mind you, I hope he comes good, because without some creativity we are doomed. Personally I would rather try something else. Meaning nothing to you and meaningless are two different things I'm not saying he's been great but it does dispel the no end prooduct myth a bit because it shows he's contributing something in those terms as well as his effort and ability to run at players etc. As for going downhill all season I think it's more of a case of not living up to the promise he showed v Man Utd in the first match. As someone else mention he seems to be getting stick for not working wonders when he's done alright (at least in relation to most of his colleagues). Bollocks! 4 assists, two agains villa iirc, does not dispel the no end product myth. Apart from running like a headless chicken he has been hopeless all season and was missing for 80 minutes against Chelsea. Quite probably the most overated player at Newcastle for some time. The problem is we have nothing else at all. Seriously look at the rest of our midfield and they provide nothing whatsover. Duff can't run, pass, cross, beat a man, tackle or anything. Butt can't pass five yards, Nolan looks at least a yard off the pace, Gutherie has the odd good spell but then completely dissapears, Barton is never available. How ever much Jonas may be disapointing after an excellent debut, he's still been better than all of our other midfielders. He's certainly not above criticism but he's the last one out of our midfield we need to get rid of.
  17. I think all central defenders perform better with better players in front of them mate, that goes for Taylor, Colocinni and Bassong. But Colocinni is really struggling, his lack of pace and attempts to play too much football worry me a lot. I like centre halfs that stand tall, Colocinni did it in his first game, but has hardly done it at all since. Against a team like Stoke, 2 from 3 of Taylor, Bassong or Beye seems the best option. I agree that Coloccini is really struggling, no doubt about that. It just doesn't all of a sudden mean Taylor also isn't a liability at centre half. I agree with both of you there but I would say that Colloccini's shot confidence probably makes him the biggest liability at the minute. Taylor has actually been playing well recently even if it has been out of the middle. Looking at these two points Taylor would definitely get my vote.
  18. This Gun For Hire 8/10. Excellent noir and the first pairing of Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake (I think it might have also been the film playing in the backround in Kim Bassingers house in LA Confidential). Niether Ladd or Lake were great actors but they both do a good job in very good film. The Big Steal 7/10. Dropped a mark because some idiot thought it would be a good idea to colourise a noir! Robert Mitchum shines as ever.
  19. Colloccini isn't a shit player but he looks completely shot of confidence and cannot play as the left side centre half so he is at the moment looking shit. If they are both fit I would be playing Taylor and Bassong on Saturday (if only one of them is fit I would seriously consider playing Beye at centreback ahead of him at the moment).
  20. As I siad I hardly get to the cinema but I do spend a fortune on dvd's so I don't have any worries about downloading if the copy is ok. And if I like a film I will buy the dvd (not at full HMV price though obviously!).
  21. Football club in trying to avoid relegation shocker. Fat Sam lifts the lid on their diabolical plan. The amount of respect I've lost for this clown is huge.
  22. What did they actually do I missed it? And whatever it was fair play to Rangers for taking action against two of their key players and putting the good of football in general and the overall good of their club ahead of their imediate goal of catching Celtic. I wish more clubs could act like this.
  23. Tbh the only time I get the cinema these days is when we take the bairn to see Bolt or something and I can watch a half decent cam but when the effects aren't there in that type of film it would just spoil it. My mate once had a copy the first Hulk film like that and when he turned in the hulk all you could see was a normal bloke with the outline of a massive hulk around him. What's the point in that?
  24. If Jonas was ever going to be the player we thought he might be when he first arrived then he would definitely have to add crossing and shooting to his game and I doubt that's ever going to be the case (especially with shooting, playing him on the right wing must improve the crossing ability of a right footer). But he does have other qualities, the ability to beat a man, pace to stretch teams, a great work ethic, the ability to hold onto the ball and if he has anything ahead of him then he is actually a good passer of the ball. None of the other players in our midfield have anything like this. I'd certainly rather have him playing than see Duff plodding around again (or fucking Steven Taylor on the wing ). And if, as Sammy says Jonas prefers the left and Lovenkrands the right, they want their fucking heads examining.
  25. That team would get tewatted iyam. Martins up front and Lovenkrands on the left were they actually play makes much more sense and Taylor on the wing? He is a centreback and nothing more, R Taylor is a fullback so it's no surprise that he's been shit on wing. Why not play Jonas on the right wing given that he's a winger and right footed. I know his crossing and shooting has been called into question but he's still been one of our best players this season and is a good grafter which is very important for us.
