  1. I know this is very early since we've not signed anyone yet and preseason is still a while off, but that's sort of the reason I want to do this now. Personally I'm very nervous about the way the club is heading at the moment and more and more I think Ashley has either settled for mid table mediocrity or is deluded about what it take to move this club to a position where we can compete for a place in Europe and above. The cost cutting while being prudent in this age of wages spiralling out of control, seems to be going through in a way that seems can only have the result in pissing off some of our players looking for new deals and puuting off potential signings. Altough the names that are being put forward as potenial signings would probably be pretty happy with the lower wages that we seem to want to offer since they are so mediocre (Gardener, Larsson, Guthery, Kapo, Dawson etc) that we probably can match their other options of relegation fodder or championship teams. I know we all (well apart from Leazes) wanted a change from the fat man's policy of big money high profile signings that didn't live up to their billing but the bargain basement route we seem to be wanting to follow can be no better. I realise that I haven't got any proof of this at all and in fact the only bit of incomming transfer business that has been confirmed by anyone at the club was the attempt to sign modric (a move that in terms of ambition and available funds seemed to show quite the opposite of much of what I am saying here) but I just have a feeling that with all of the story's coming out about clashe's between Keegan and the board, wage slashing and looking at crap players that there is as many problems with our current owner as there was with the last and at the moment I'm looking forward to next season no more than I was before Roeder was sacked at the end of the season before last. The optimism that Keegans arival brought me has all but evaporated and I'm now getting seriously concerned that not only have we fell from where we we under Robson (ie in or at least challenging the top four) but also falling well back from the likes of Cinteh, Spurs, Villa, Everton, Portsmouth and Blackburn (although their choice of manage will determine this) so that we will be competing with the likes of the smoggies and the makems next year either just above of even in the relegation battle rather than progressing. Am I being overly pessimistic or do others share my lack of faith in our new regime?
  2. The keepers top is by far the best thing about that tbf.
  3. Long contracts have nothing to do with what a player deserves these days though. You either put them on a long contract or risk losing them for next to nothing. Taylor is both over and underrated at the same time. He shows potential to end up being a very good defender but he isn't anywhere near there yet and he needs to apply himself and stop believing the hype (and have a bit a bit of stability, he's played under five mangers here in his short career and alongside countless clowns) if he is to fulfill that potential. But in the mean time if we don't put him on a long term contract we will lose him for nothing/next to nothing and that doesn't make any sense for us when we aren't exactly blessed with an abundance of centrebacks and are being linked with spurs rejects as additions.
  4. I would avoid Boa Morte like the plague going by his wist am form and Kappo would be an ok squad player but I would be more impressed if we tried to sign some starting 11 players first.
  5. In The Line Of Fire. Eastwoods last really good acting only film.
  6. It's good but seems to lack some of the cohesion and energy of Appologies in favour of a bit more experimentation. I find Shearwater very hard work, their new one is quite good but they aren't in the same league as Okervil River. Just listened to the new ones from Bonnie Prince Billy, Frightened Rabbit and Silver Jews. With the latter being the pick of the three.
  7. True and true. But by the looks of it we will be spunking the money on a load of no talent squad players.
  8. Is everyone as excited as me about the new season with the prospect seeing such talents as Steve Davis and Olivier Kapo?
  9. One of them is Jasper Olsen isn't it? Class player.
  10. This is all well and good if you already have a (or at least the majority of) first team in place. We simply don't and therefore need Keegan to concentrate on that.
  11. Are Sweden playing? They are usually the pick of the bunch like!
  12. Tbh I'd rather we signed a player based on having him scouted before a major international tournament than how he played in it. They are a terrible gauge of a player. Kazim Richards looked class the other night for Turkey and he was wank in the premiership and emember even Gary Breen looked like a top player one year and he was shite even by makem standards.
  13. Even though he plays for Birmingham? Yeah the fact that ones a Dane and the other is Swedish too! I don't think he's any better than the players we have in our squad at the moment (and I don't think much of those). He lacks the pace to be top player and I'm sure we could attract better. I must say though I am getting a bit concerned with what Ashley's game plan is for us, I know there's not much concrete evidence yet (and the one confirmation we do have is a very promissing bid for Modric) but it's looking like we're trying to do things on the cheap and that Keegan isn't going to get anywhere near the money that was predicted. And I don't think he's good enough at the other parts of the game to really progress us without it.
  14. He'd just be another Alan Smith in our squad anyway, not good enough to be first choice striker and no kind of a midfielder at all. No thanks.
  15. Just making them up. We never had a rule book or owt As I thought. Did you play British Bulldog too? I thought everyone played that. It was especially cool as it was banned at first school. Understandably since the only bit of the yard that wasn't concrete was a bit of grass about 5 x 5 yards that you weren't allowed on. Aye it was banned at ours too. And yet it is Tuggy. No tuggy butcher though!
  16. Doesn't Mutu play up front for them? German expressionism, now there was a film movement. Metropolis Dr. Caligari Dr Caligari is ok but nowt special. That final scene of The 400 Blows did nothing to change my mind but I did think the bit in the other link where the kid kept making a mess of his book was quite funny. If the rest of the film was like that I may have been entertained.
  17. We used to hide on roof's of abandonded houses and round the rising sun park/farmers fields but we still called it hide and seek. I can remember that arrow game (although I think we just scratched on the arrows with stones rather than use chalk) but I'll be buggered if I can remember what it was. I seem to remember a game we called polo too.

  19. I wouldn't bother, it's possibly the worst film I've ever watched. Was going to say hated it from start to finish but I didn't quite make the end becuase after sitting through more than an hour of absolute boredom I switched it off before the end. It's all in the final shot. So it is worth watching? I've heard that before but whatever that final shot is I can't believe watching an hour and a half of the most boring shite before can justify it. Just for David Kelly... The last 7 minutes. I'll bet this makes it worse. Just comes up with sorry the clip is no longer available which pretty much does the job for me
  20. Btw has anyone ever spelt these words before or are we just making the spelling up here as we go?
  21. Aye I think that's pretty much it.
  22. Would you not hear that if you still played leavergo? Is that the same a Leavo? Fur (used (if I remember rightly) when suggesting bollocks was being talked) If Leavo is like blocka but you have to catch the people you find and shout "leavergo by a one two three" rather than "Block X by a one two three" then they have to join you in hunting down who's left, then aye. Never heard of blocka tbh but it sounds like hide and seek. Anyway I think we're talking about pretty much the same thing.
