Film/moving picture show you most recently watched

I wouldn't bother, it's possibly the worst film I've ever watched. Was going to say hated it from start to finish but I didn't quite make the end becuase after sitting through more than an hour of absolute boredom I switched it off before the end. It's all in the final shot. So it is worth watching? I've heard that before but whatever that final shot is I can't believe watching an hour and a half of the most boring shite before can justify it. -
Would you not hear that if you still played leavergo? Is that the same a Leavo? Fur (used (if I remember rightly) when suggesting bollocks was being talked)

Lovely work. Intellectual but also light. Check "Alphaville" mate. And "Le Chinoise". Ta, I've heard Mempris (sp?) is a good one too. Also stars Bridget Bardot Alex, weekend is worth a look for his later 60s work, also Bande à part. Agree with parky (this time only) on Alphaville. If you can find it Hiroshima Mon Amour by Alain Resnais is an awesome French New Wave film. Along with 400 Blows, it's on the 'list'. Watched Get Carter last night btw. Pretty good and Nicholson and Freeman are always worth a watch but it wasn't really the comedy I was expecting. Might fuck it off then, given I rate your taste buds in these matters. That's very flattering. What you after -
Decent Days and Nights is a good song and Hounds of Love is a canny cover of a brilliant song but that's about all they have really and as HF says they're makems so that's more than enough reason to give it a miss.

Naqoyqatsi. This images didn't do much for me but the music is fantastic and I've downloaded the music from the trilogy on the back of it. I imagine it's a canny watch on a come down. -

Aye I thought it was pretty good, more interesting than most of the origin story's we get for the first outing of a suphero franchise (although that might be because I haven't seen it done a million times before a la Batman/Superman/Spiderman/Hulk). Downey Jr and Bridges are obviously very good and whatshername isn't too annoying thankfully. -
Can you copy Football Manager? One of the lads at work has it and I was wondering if there is a way to copy it because I assume it's like the old ones where you have to have the disk in to play it. Cheers

Modern Times - My first Chaplin and it didn't do much for me at all I must admit. It's well made and looks great for it's age and very well choriographed (I did really like the scene where he goes into the machine) but I thought it was supposed to be a comedy? I smirked a few times but that's it. Decent film but fell totally flat as a comedy. Full marks to Paulette Godard for being the first female in a silent (that I've seen) film to be a real looker. -

He can't even act never mind direct Alfred Hitchcock couldn't act either but that didn't stop him from being one of the greatest directors of all time. Afleck may not be Brando but he's directed a very good film there. -
Did I miss something because I thought Chigurh was a hit man rather than just a psycho (although he clearly was happy murdering anyone that he come accros) and was simply set on a path to get the money. My only problem with the film was how low key the ending was. I don't necessarily need some action packed payoff but what was given just wasn't satisfying. That said I think I will appreciate it more on further viewings when I know what to expect.

I'll be incredibly disapointed if our midfield of next season consists of Duff, Milner and one from our current central players. We need an overhaul in that department and while I don't think any of them are terrible they won't take us anywhere as our first choices.
-
He's been called that for a couple of months now. Seems to be scoring more than Drogba was at the same age.
-
Pleased with that. It's a fantastic film that gets overlooked in these lists as the Allen choice is always Manhattan or Annie Hall. Probably my favourite Allen film that (not that I've seen loads admittedly)
-
My mistake, in that case SloopJohn is right, it is an awfull list But it is a list that will stimulate more debate than one that just included all of the classics. And it certainly makes Point Break a more understanable choice. I would have liked to have seen more like that though as this now feels like they have just thrown a couple in to try and make their point rather than make a personal top 100 which for most people would naturally include personal favourites.
-
Christ did Allardyce ever leave? Not exactly thrilling prospects there.
-
There are some staggering omissions but there are always going to be when they do a list like this that is taken from a public vote. I've never seen a single one (Empire, Channel 4 etc) that have covered anywhere near all of the bases. IMDB's comes closer but they had to do a top 250 to do that and even then there are some travesties in there. Hell even the 1001 Movies You Must See Before Die book misses some of my absolute favourite films (12 Monkeys, Millers Crossing). At the end of the day there aren't many films in there that shite (ET and Picnic At Hanging Rock being the only two I can think of and even then I acknowlege that to many other people they are great films). Point Break is the only one I don't understand at all, a lot of people really like it (me included) but I've never heard anyone rank it up with the greatest films ever. Perhaps it's a typo and it should be Point Blank?

Gone Baby Gone. Terrible name (considering the subject mater) but a very promising directorial debut from Ben Afleck. I'm sure the ending won't appeal to a lot of people with the moral questions it raises rather than delivering an action payoff that many would expect but for me it makes it all the more interesting. Another very strong performance from Casey Afleck who supported strongly by the ever dependable Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman, Amy Ryan as the bairns less than sympathetic mother is possibly the stand out performance though, making you want to slap her every time she's on the screen. Only Michelle Monaghan's character feels a little bit underdeveloped but that is a small critiscism. It came out quite a while ago in America but was delayed here due to the McCann situation, and you can see why as there is an uncanny resemblence between the girl in the film and Madeline. Well worth going to see. -
"We've gone for three and lost all three"..KK

I think the only message that Keegan is trying to send out is that he is going for quality players but we can't expect to get them all because of our position. The fact that we are making these moves now shows a massive leap forward from previous regimes and the fact that we are going for this calibre of player ispires me with confidence going forward. That we've been knocked back doesn't surprise me in the least given our position and the mess this club has been in recent years. I'm more concerned when I hear more crap about only wanting to sign proven premiership players. It's the same shit we've heard for the last few years and tbh it's worked about as well as Keane's idea of playing McShane against us the other week. -
But you haven't seen them. Well done in the not reading my post properly stakes there mate Well done in the unnecessary emboldenment stakes there mate Aye that's it, blame me for your mistake Actually I nearly went with a different colour but I thought that was overkill!

I hadn't picked up on that not being there. Having seen it about 100 times now it has lost some of its power but it's still a brilliant film. The Omission is Millers Crossing is another travesty and was Lebowski there?
