  1. Massive shame, as that article says he truely is a legend of not just football but sport in general.
  2. The Hold Steady - Boys & Girls In America
  3. Perhaps they will feel they owe us one for Barton and they'll let us have him?
  4. I notice they have smith down as a midfielder and not a striker. Not sure he's much use there either but it's probably right as calling him a striker opens up a can of worms with the trade descriptions people. I think the makems have made some decent signings. I wouldn't want any of them as first choice (although with what we have at this moment in time I would expect Malbranque to get a game) but they will be canny for them. Tainio the only one I wouldn't even want as a backup.
  5. Saw Wall-e at the weekend too. Looks fantastic but it was just about starting to drag before they went aboard the spaceship when it picks right up. Not as good as Toy Story or Monsters Inc but still very good. Also watched Stardust (good but would have been better if they'd went all out with the comedy tone they had in bits) and Confessions of a Dangerous mnd which I also enjoyed.
  6. Well it was pretty awfull lets make no bones about it. But I would be amazed if we ever line up with a side approaching that in a competetive game. The only decent thing the (shite) Setanta comentators said all game was that they couldn't see Smith playing many games next season. I fucking hope not because he looks a shocking excuse for a footballer these days. I wouldn't be surprised if he never scores another goal at any level. Bassong was the obvious positive, he looked fast, strong, decent in the air and composed on the ball (being left footed is a big bonus too). But let's not get carried away as their forwards were no great shakes. Couldn't have done any better though to well done to the lad. Gutherie looked ok and was at least trying to pick out some forward passes (which was pretty much impossible given Smith was the only one ahead of him). That's about it for positives but I would imagine you only have about four players from our starting 11 in that lot so I'm not too despondant. Hopefully we will get Faye, Beye, Colloccini, Jonas, Owen, Martins and Viduka playing again very quickly and we will look a very different proposition (we'll still get twated on our opening day like). Still need more players in though and some one who can link midfield and attack is a must.
  7. With the Colloccini move looking to be sorted I can't see us going after another centreback now which is a big relief if Senderos was a target.
  8. Is that out already? I want to see it just for the feet thing! "You smell, you smell, you take" It is if you know which sites to look on 15th at the pictures though.
  9. It's our own tbf. We should have taken legal advice/advice from the FA, and found out whether this was a posibility and then not signed him. The possible positive in all this is that if there is a threat of a fifteen game ban then it might spur us into action to sign a/some midfielder(s).

Tbf he wasn't in it so it's difficult to judge against the likes of 48hrs or Beverly Hills Cop Daddy Day Care on the other hand isn't very good but fairly unoffensive compared to some of his fims over the last 15 years or so. Haven't seen any of those personally (although there's a few sequels to half decent films I've seen there. Some of the titles just scream shite though.
  11. Don't Mess With The Zohan. Typical Sandler affair but canny funny. Much better than Little Nicky (which isn't difficult) but not as good as Airheads or Happy Gilmore.
  12. No surprise at all there. Has to be a good chance that it's just them trying to get more from us though.
  13. Their problem will be scoring imo. Jones was such a big player for them last year. Not just the goals but the physical threat and allowing them to play 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 when deemed necessary. I agree they'll be ok though and I quite like their signings. Yeah they're a long way off being a team that will do well but they survived fairly comfortably in the end last season and I think they will improve on that at least. At the minute it's difficult see past the three promoted teams for relegation. Fulham are even making some decent signings.
  14. I think they've actually made some half decent signings so far. I mean Chimbonda is a wanker and Diouf is as horrible as they come but they are canny players who (ability wise) I wouldn't have minded seeing here. Same goes for Malbranque. Don't think they would have improved our team and I would definitely rate Beye or Owen/Martins ahead of them but they would be canny squad players. Tainio is a bit of a nothing player though. I can't see them struggling too much this season as things stands if I'm honest.
  15. This could be a decent enough signing as cover and hopefully he has some potential to develop into a first team player. I have to admit I wouldn't be totally worried if we started the season the Beye, Faye, Taylor & Enrique as our first choice back four as long as we can improve to midfield and attack enough to keep pressure off them a bit. Would be happier if we brought Colloccini too though.
  16. Would be nice to see us try and help out one of our former stars who is in trouble.
  17. As I thought, whats 2J getting ants in his pants about then? It's rare in that it's a superhero film that isn't just for kids or yet another origin story. On those terms it's a bloody good action film with a bit more depth (a bit like Heat perhaps) but it just isn't a great work of art. Thinking of the best two films I've watched again recently, The Good The Bad & The Ugly and Chinatown, it doesn't compare. I'll still buy the dvd when it comes out like.
  18. Didn't even get that far, I saw it was Torres who posted it and left it there.
  19. According to the journal we've agreed personal terms with him which is a good sign (whether we get him or not) after all of the stories we are hearing about not being willing to pay decent wages any more.
  20. See if we can get him banned from Newcastle city centre too. Then at least we won't have to suffer him in home games.
  21. I'm happy to be in what seems to be a minority on here who thought it is massively overrated. I was really looking forward to it and had convinced myself it couldn't be as good as the hype and on that basis I wasn't disapointed. Still very good and I thought Eckhart gave the best performance if I'm honest (possibly as I hadn't rated him at all before hand). I did think Maggie G was a bit misscast like.
  22. The Dark Knight. Very good and very overrated at the same time. It's not life changing or the best film ever made or anything like that, it's probably the best Batman or comic book film ever made but there's plenty of films that are superior to it. Oh and Ledger is good in it but had he not died before it's release there wouldn't be all of this hype about him either.
