  1. Actually the Villa fan over on N.O. is saying he's a really good player if he's ever fit which is basically never.
  2. Cacapa was the captain before he fell out with Houlier for not signing a new contract. I think Junhino got it then. I definitely remember him as captain. I think he might be able to play rightback too although I couldn't say for sure.
  3. I've watched him a couple of times and he's always looked immense to me. I'm really quite excited about this.
  4. Twat you beat me too it Good player from what I've seen.
  5. Can't say I'm thrilled (would prefer Gudjohnsen) but I do think he is a pretty good player as well as being someone who will not hide like some of our players have recently. Decent enough addition to the squad though.
  6. Oh I definitely will but I think I need to make sure it's when I have some time to sit and watch it properly when I'm not on the verge of nodding off.
  7. I've got that on DVD and I just can't get into it. I've watched the first ten or fifteen minutes about four times but I keep falling alseep. Mind you it doesn't help when I always seem to be sticking it one at about half ten!
  8. As things stand there is no chance of this team finishing 6th. We basically have no fullbacks worth speaking of, only two centre backs (and Taylor picks up quite a few knocks), and going into the start of the season it's looking more and more like we will only have one propper central midfielder! I don't think it's panicing to say we are in a pretty shitty state at the minute and if clubs like Derby, Fulham, Wigan, Birmingham and the makems can comfortably outspend us there appears to be something very wrong!
  9. TBH I thought the song was the best thing about it. I didn't dislike it tbf it's just I was expecting some sort of classic comedy and it there were very parts of it that I can remember laughing at. I did like the Colonel and Elliot Gould and Donald Sutherland were excellent as always but I just thought it wasn't that funny. Mind you I feel the same about Dr Strangelove. Maybe it's dated now but I reckon it gets its acclaim for being ahead of its time. I liked Dr Strangelove too. I know the overlapping dialogue was pretty revolutionary on MASH but you see it all of the time now so it doesn't really have the same impact anymore. You can get that a lot with older films. Kane is widely held as a masterpiece for it's camerawork or editing or whatever. But we've seen all those things millions of times now so it's difficult to appreciate it anymore. I like Dr Strangelove I just didn't laugh at it. I found the whole senario funny but enjoyed more as a drama. "helllo, Dmitri" It's not a belly laugh per scene film, but it's a grin from ear to ear throughout film. "Gentlemen, you can't fight in the war room" Well it certainly is whenever George C Scott in on the screen.

  12. Aye it's not one of his best although it's an ok rainy Saturday afternoon type film. Tbh I don't think either of Hitchcock's attempts at comedy (Mr & Mrs Smith being the other) really worked and suggest that although he was undoubtly a genius at what he did (which was to direct a good twenty or so absolute classics), he was a little limited in range. Especially when compared to someone like Howard Hawks who had no really identifiable style but managed to direct numerous classics in various genre's. Anyway, I've watched a couple of Robert Altman 'Clasics' this week and I have to say I'm disapointed in them both. The two films in question are McCabe & Mrs Miller and M.A.S.H. Both of them are incredably highly regarded but both failed to deliver any real substance for. McCabe looks fantastic and the acting and direction are both strong, but the story seems very thin and MASH basically has no story and just wasn't particularly funny. Very disapointing after I loved the last Altman film I watched.
  13. Exactly he will be another body to replace at this late stage when we allready are struggling to get players in that we need in other area's. Alternatively we could look at it as an oppertunity to bring a creative midfielder who actually performs to replace him!
  14. Apparently something to do with them not being complete morons or something.
  15. Aye that and him not wanting to sign for the club that has broke the premiership record for the lowest points in consecutive attempts.
  16. ive kept my mouth shut all summer just sat back and watched it all unfold this one is a bridge to far lets face it the players we are in for arent exactly superstars either yet they still dont want to come i am gob smacked that he would rather stay at wigan than sign for us and roy keane
  17. They're still in the denial stage at the minute. Funny as fuck to read
  18. Sunderland in player rejects them shocker!! (From the beeb) Baines rejects Sunderland switch Baines has played 162 games for Wigan since his debut in 2002 Wigan have revealed that England Under-21 defender Leighton Baines has turned down a move to Sunderland. The 22-year-old had been given permission to open talks with Roy Keane, but Wigan's website says he will not move to the Stadium of Light. Everton are now being strongly linked with Merseyside-born Baines, with sources in the north-east confirming he would not be joining Sunderland. Baines has admitted that he wants to leave the JJB Stadium. The Black Cats had an offer rejected earlier this month but upped their bid and Baines was cleared to meet Keane. Baines, who has two years left on his Wigan contract but admitted he does not want a new deal, came through the youth ranks at the JJB Stadium. He has made 162 appearances for the Latics since his debut in 2002, helping the club rise through the divisions and into the Premier League. Sunderland's current left-back, Danny Collins, signed a new three-year contract on 20 July
  19. While I appreciate what you're saying with next season in mind I'm concerned about there now being some long-term stability and planning from the top. That's the crucial thing for me. I agree but we do need to do something about the current season or we could find ourselves left behind with a very large gap to make up. This will make the long term plan a lot more difficult to achieve.
  20. Let's face it, if us and Inter were interested then we won't be signing him.
  21. Glad to see the back of fatty, let's just hope that this isn't a false dawn and the new boss will get some players in pronto.
  22. Can't say that any of the prospective signings thrill me but that's more because I haven't seen what they're capable of than because I don't rate them. The Journal is suggesting we're still in for Shorey too.
  23. TBF any back four that starts the season with any of Ramage, Carr, Babayrou or Nobby doesn't look too good for the season ahead!
  24. I don't think he had much choice but to give the Zog a run out there on Saturday tbh. I'm sure he won't have given up on signing someone (only a complete idot would accept what we currently have) but it's obviously more difficult than he was expecting!
