  1. I think I was a bit older but I feel the same. I've recommended it to a younger mate of mine though and he thought it was ridiculous.
  2. Warriors is a massive favourite of mine but I'm not sure if you watched it for a first time now it would stand up so well. A bit like The Breakfast Club and Ferris Beuller. I watched Colossal before I went on holiday. The trailer made it look like a straight up comedy which, while there was certainly comedy in it, it certainly wasn't. It ends up a strange mix of drama, comedy and action never seeming to know what tone it wants to set. I discovered later that it's written and directed by the same guy who did Time Crimes which comes as no surprise. Interesting but I'm not sure I'd recommend it.
  3. Christ Fish, if we can't get a win in that August and September run then we're in deep shit.
  4. It's a very reasonable list for us. Plenty of runs where if we're doing well we could pick up points and not many runs that you'd really fear. Everything depends on who we have playing for us and how we're doing but I don't think we could have really asked for much better.

  6. A good chance to get off to a positive start. Only Spurs and Liverpool and both at home before mid November. A lot of winnable games.
  7. They've certainly got a good £10m more than I thought they could get for him. I'd be a bit nervous about spending that type of money on him if I were Everton. Yes he looked good for the mackems last season but I remember Rob Green looking brilliant for QPR (?) a few seasons ago when they got relegated. When you're getting that much to do you're going to end up making some saves just by law of averages. You could argue that without a team of circus performers in front of him, he should do even better but it doesn't always work like that. It'll be interesting to see. Everton must be confident they're going to get a ridiculous amount for Lukaku and Barkley to spunk this much on a keeper though. I think Sunderland have had their eyes out personally.
  8. Your attitude which is the same as many others I can't understand is why I defend him. He had a poor game against Oxford in the cup apparently and the next game there were people at the match saying he should never play for us again. It's fucking ridiculous really. He's not a great player but he's not awful by any stretch.
  9. Can't say I'm that fussed. I'd be very interested if we were signing him on a permanent deal but I want to see us sign someone with more top flight experience.
  10. I disagree. If you know you have a pacey striker like Gayle you know you can put those sorts of balls in. If you have someone who's not likely to get beyond there back four then what's the point in putting those balls in? Play in balls that give the players you have on the pitch a chance. It's exactly the same as standing one up to the back post to try and get up above their defenders. Gayle has next to no chance of getting on the end of those even if they are excellent balls for a different type of player to attack. So I would expect our wide players to realise that and play accordingly. Atsu's inability to work that out against Bristol concerned me. He is either lacking in a football brain or the ability put in a different type of ball. Mind you he's not he only one, the amount of long high balls we played up to Gayle throughout the season that he had no chance of winning was a regular cause of frustration. To him more than anyone else I'd imagine.
  11. Frightening if it's true. What would we have to pay for a quality player with a bit of pedigree in that position.
  12. I went to every home game and a fair few away games last season fwiw. He's definitely not a natural finisher and lacks the pace that would ever give him the chance to get up to that 20 goal a season mark in the premier league. But given that he scored 9 goals in his first season (a season in which we created next to nowt), I see no reason to think he couldn't a few more goals to get up towards 15 in the future. And that would represent a good total for a player playing for a club in our position. However I do agree that he's not particularly suited to playing up top on his own (primarily down to that lack of pace and suspect temperament) and I don't think Rafa trusts him to follow the instructions he has for him, so I do think he'll be moved on. I'm not convinced we'll be able to bring in anyone better than him without spunking most of our budget on one player or striking it lucky with someone like Abraham, but I do think we should be able to find someone who fits in better with what Rafa wants and that's what is most important. I think it's a shame in that his attitude and desire to do well here is first class, and it would have been great if he could have made it as he would have been a real hero if he had. With regards to that Bristol game, I'd say that as much as he wasn't doing well at getting on the end of crosses, Atsu should have realised that he wasn't playing with Gayle and played in balls for the player who was on the pitch. It was just as infuriating as when we put high balls in for Gayle that he's never going to get.
  13. I agree with this. It seems that some fans just didn't like the praise he got and have gone overboard the other way. As usual the truth is somewhere in the middle. I doubt he'll ever be a 20+ goal a season striker but given the only strikers who scored twenty + goals in the premier league last season were Kane, Lukaku, Sanchez, Aguero & Costa, and any of them would cost you in excess of £50m, it's not a great surprise. I don't think it's inconceivable he could get around 15 goals.
  14. That strip is fucking hideous like, and the back makes it even worse. What the fuck were they thinking of. No doubt the scruffy cunts will still buy it in their thousands though. I'm sure Sheffield United have had a similarly awful strip at one point.
  15. The Gouffran bit is disturbing but I'm glad we wont have to suffer Don Cheadle any more.
  16. Just don't let it happen again!
