I was at the game on Saturday and I have to say Owen was awful, he looked off the pace, his touch wasnt good and his movement poor. He was shown up by the energy and determination of Rooney (my man of the match). I wouldnt be surprised if Owen is dropped on Wednesday if we go 1 up front.

Not seen enough of Faye to pass judgement yet although Cacapa is absolute class and we paid nowt for him. BS needs to take a lot of credit here

Owen is a proven striker, he has scored goals in the premiership, in Spain and at international level. The guy is class and the minority who think we are better off without him should take a close look at last seasons efforts with Shola, Martins & Sibierski, none of whome are in the same league as Owen. We are very lucky to have a TOP striker considering we are rebuilding and may just scrape europe this season, with Owens help. I look forward to reading comments from the doubters when he scores a shit load of goals this season

He wants to play for the club and he wants to play for his country, he is passionate about England, so am I. To all the doubters out there. There`s no doubt if he can get the service from the likes of Zoggy, Emre and Barton he will score a LOT of goals. Once he gets a feel for playing off Viduka that will also be a massive boost. If he can stay fit (ish) for the season I can see him bagging 25 goals at least. He`s Englands number one striker and he plays for us FFS get off his case and get behind him

i'm struggling to think why you'd despise a player who has only ever given his best when fit, maintaining a strike rate of 1 goal in every 2 games he's played for us. dispair at his injury record by all means, but you're obviously something of an oddball if you despise owen's attitude which has been nothing less than 100% professional since he's been at newcastle. and bent and defoe aren't in the same league as a fit michael owen. Bold #1: Edgar played what, 2 games for us last season? And scored against Man U? There's a 1 goal to 2 game strike rate for you. He would jump at the chance to leave Bolton, he wouldnt be cheap, he wants champions league football, he is also a sulky bastard if he doesnt get his own way. Do you think he would be more commited to us than Owen?

I think we are lucky to have a player like Owen when you consider the state the club was in before BS and Uncle Mike came in. No European football and a shambolic defence plus a load average players. He is without doubt the most natural striker in the Premiership and his goals record for us is very good, OK he has had 1 horrendous injury followed by a few niggles but now he looks to be on the road to recovery and I think the England games will do him good, as long as he doesnt get smashed. Compare him to Oba, Shola or Smith and there is no contest as to who will get the most goals, granted he doesnt have the passion of Smith but does that matter if he is banging them in? IF we flogged him in Jan then who could we get that A. Would want to come to us B. Would have the passion and commitment that Owen lacks (allegedly) C Has the proven scoring record Owen has D Can fit right into the team alongside Viduka I cant think of anyone TBH

I had anticipated that with Enrique at the back and Zoggy in front of him we would see a formidable attacking left side but it didn't happen, couldn't fathom why Milner spent so much time on the left side. Watched the game on football first last night and came to the following conclusion Thats our strongest back 4, good full backs (god its good to type that), power and areal ability of Faye and the experience & composure of Cacapa Emre needs to play as he`s whats been lacking in midfield, drive, vision and quality. BS can make him a top offensive midfielder IMO Smith offers a lot more up top than he does in midfield, some nice touches and good link play Butt is our best holding midfielder Milner runs a lot but offers very little Martins needs to learn the basics and quick, he has missed so many easy chances over recent weeks and Owen should start when fit, Fact also on a negative I reckon Shay isnt our in form keeper so Harper should get back in the team until he fucks up, which he hasnt done upto now

Its OK banging in screamers from 25 yards now and again but when you cant score 1 on 1 , fail to control the ball on numerous occasions & have poor vision then all the pace and movement in the world wont make up for it. I think Martins can be a decent impact player from the bench or a starter against poorer sides but when you play any of the top boys where chances will be limited then I would take Owen or Viduka over Martins any time

Owen for Martins might result in a few goals
