Anyone got the feeling we're going to be good this season?
jaythesouthernmag replied to Row Z's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think we wont have a problem scoring goals but I would like to see a defensive midfielder, a right back and the spanish kid we have agreed to sign at lb plus a utility defender who can cover all across the back then we will have a pretty realistic chance of a top 6 finish -
Let him rot in the reserves

Great news. As if by magic my hangover dissapears. Plus Leeds get 15 pts deducted, Ha-Ha

My mrs said she was going to surprise me with the "Boumsong" shirt the other year . Thankfully she changed her mind and got me pro-evo instead, close call
-
When i went on holiday there was a guy at the airport with an old England top with Heskey on it, Must have been a one and only

I think it's if it turns out to be a shit signing then they don't look like twats with a big fee and if it's a great signing they can say he only cost this I might be wrong but dont you only have to disclose the fee if you are a PLC

The last time I bought a shirt with a name & number it was Shearer on our old away kit ( 3 years ago) I have toyed with the idea the last few seasons, Luque when he first signed, Parker, then he went shit, Duff then he went shit & got injured, Owen then he got injured and looked like he was off. Its a bit of a lottery. But I have gone for Taylor this year Which is going to be the most popular this season??

Thats the fella, Thanks In talks now apparently, If he signs today my Friday evening booze session will be sweeter than ever

I`ve always liked Smith and reckon his attitude can rub off on some of our players. I think he will surprise a few with his goal tally if given the chance. Just need them defenders now. SSN said Capacca(or whatever his name is) was having a medical today, is this right?

SSN - Barton charged with assault...

Knowing this liberal government he will proberbly get two weeks in centre parks -
BS wants to sign the right players at the right prices. We are not in a position to attract top defenders at the moment although under Roedent we could have had Campbell and Woodgate. I`m sure Sam would have taken both of these given the chance. If we would have had a decent manager last term things would have been different but we had a muppet so we have to deal with it
-
From what I`ve seen so far in pre-season and if our short term injuries clear up I would start with this lot ------------------------Given------------------------------- Nobby -- Rozenhal-- Tayls -- Edgar ----------- - Geremi ---------------------------- ------ Milner ------- ------------------ Luque -------------- Zoggy------------------------------ -------------- Oba----------------------------------- -------------- Vid or Owen (whichever is fit)----- I would hope we had a new couple of defenders in by then. I would look at interchanging Zog and Luque throught the game too. I have also been well impressed with Carroll too and hope he doesnt go out on loan

A few seasons back there was an interview with Nesta or Canavaro (cant remember which), the guy asked him which striker he had least liked to play against. His answer was Alan Smith. What you get with Smith is an agressive fucker who gives 100% and IMO we have not had enough of these in the past and now we`ve got 2 if Barton doesnt go down

he played a fair bit on the right under o'leary the season they had fowler and viduka but are you sure it was half the games he's played? i'm pretty sure he's played more games than not up front (his prefered position). but anyway, that's not the point. the chances are that if we sign him he'll be playing in midfield because we have three better strikers already at the club. would you fancy smith as our new right winger? I think BS might look at Smith on the right side of a 4-3-3 with Viduka in the middle and Martins or Luque on the left and Owen in his preferred position on the treatment table lol. you're probably right. dunno why i'm complaining. we need bodies asap. £6m seems expensive and he's not a player i would have gone for personally but i hope i'm proven wrong and he does well for us. I think with injury record of our strikers, Viduka,Owen and Shola a versitile player like Smith will prove to be a decent buy. £6m in todays market for an English player with Prem experience isnt OTT in my opinion. Wigan paid £5.5m for koumas and Fulham paid the same for Kamara

Good point. If Milner and the Zogmeister are developed and used properly the departure of Dyer will be no big deal (which it isn't anyway really, because as I said earlier in the thread he only turned up to a handful of games a season). Yep! I think BS will get the best out of Both Milner and the Zog. I also like the look of Geremi in the middle
-
I think Zog can fill Dyers boots and then some. He was feeling the effects of Roederitis last season but now he is looking a different player under BS
-
Sounds pretty good to me. I would prefare sensible signings to the trophy names that have been banded about
-
I`m happy with this as long as there is a ball winning midfielder,a left back and a versitile defender to follow. I used to rate Smith when he was at Leeds but didnt see enough of him at Man U, I trust BS tho`
-
I would like Bouba-Diop but i reckon it will be Abdoulaye Faye, He can play cb or cm but not sure how good he is tho`

Ashley's Newcastle future not black and white
jaythesouthernmag replied to Dr Gloom's topic in Newcastle Forum
Bloody typical!!!! We get bought by a billionaire who`s as tight as a gnats chuff Look out for our new sponsors.........................DONNAY!!!! -
Zoggy looked good on Sunday in the middle and I would like to see him there with Barton when fit, £3m is an insult for a player of his talent, and Fulham come on this cant happen, can it?

Newcastle put Martins on sale to raise transfer cash
jaythesouthernmag replied to ewerk's topic in Newcastle Forum
Worrying if its true but I cant see it. Ashley needs to get his cash out to prove his intentions. Liverpool get Hicks & Gillette City get Sinawatra West Ham get Magnassun all of who have splashed the cash and shown their commitment to the team -
Complicated finances leading to reduced transfer fund?
jaythesouthernmag replied to JawD's topic in Newcastle Forum
If this is the case I will be a bit peed off but on the flip side we have proberbly got the best manager in the business for getting players in for next to nothing. Might be time to lower the expectations of the so called big names and concentrate on numbers or we could live to regret it.At least I reckon we will be banging in plenty of goals, hopefully more than we let in -
Juve were crap tho`. Has Boumsong been promoted to defence coach?
