Turk Vows To Fight For Toon Future
jaythesouthernmag replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
He deserves a good crack under BS, look at Zoggy compared to last year. If he can get Emre firing and playing to his potential then he can be the missing link in our midfield -
On current form Robinson or James wouldnt be near the squad, Doesnt work like that tho`, mores the pity
-
Shola always has limited mobility, nowt to do with injury Hope the Big fella passes his fitness test and plays along side Oba, I reckon they will be a good partnership. Otherwise we may see Smith up top, which will be interesting to see
-
Harper is keeping Shay, who is the second best keeper in the prem, out of our team and rightly so. You cant fault his performances or the fact that BS is picking him on form and until he starts dropping clangers Shay will stay on the bench. I cant see Maclaren picking him tho`, It will be Robinson, James or Carson, irrelavant of form
-
We lost because we didnt convert our chances and fell asleep at a vital moment, No excuses. Plus a dubious team selection/tactics didnt help

Joey champing at the bit for United return
jaythesouthernmag replied to Scottish Mag's topic in Newcastle Forum
Cant happen soon enough for me, we need a driving force in midfield. We are far too one dimensional at the moment with Geremi/Faye/Butt/Smith all offering the same option -
After the miss against West Ham on sunday and last nights efforts his confidence must be low, He lacks composure in front of goal and tends to make the wrong decisions. Hope he sorts himself out against city and Ameobi isnt in the team
-
Wouldnt mind seeing Oba play up top with the Vidukanator against city on Saturday, Im sure with his strength and vision he can lay on some chances for Oba, not that he will hit the target on current form. I dont think Owen will string together a run of games without picking up injuries, he never really has, even when he was younger he still picked up niggles that kept him out for a few weeks. If we can get 20 games out of him this season we will be lucky
-
I`d be pissed too if Torres was on the bench, the guys a class above all their other strikers
-
Great result for the Toon, Plenty of plus points. Viduka looked great and weighed in with a couple, Zoggy was different class, Butt was solid and committed, Cacapa , Rozey and Beye looked a decent unit along with Zoggy/Enrique, but Zoggy needs to be on the wing to get the best out of him IMO. Harper is doing all that is asked of him and keeping Shay on the bench, fair play to BS for picking players on form and hope he sticks to it all over the pitch. Geremi and Owen had off days, Milner was avarage and Smith did ok but I thought he looked more comfortable when he went up top Oba`s miss was a nightmare but he showed his pace by getting into that position and I hope BS gives him a few chances or I fear we will loose him come Jan Look forward to seeing Beye capaca Rozy Enrique all start at the back with Zoggy and Barton in midfield with Butt and Geremi offering protection plus Viduka with Owen/Oba up top. That will be some team
-
The solution to our problem at Derby is simple to fix 1x creative midfielder 0x shamiobi also the scousers were not that prolific today, most teams will have some off days this season. Just hope we dont have too many more like that.

Ameobi - Always the whipping boy....
jaythesouthernmag replied to bassplayerjj's topic in Newcastle Forum
Ameobi was very, very poor against Derby but most of our players looked way below par. The thing is Ameobi simply isnt good enough, He`s not a target man, lacks pace and his finishing isnt all that. I cant believe BS picked him ahead of Oba. If Viduka isnt fit for for West Ham I just pray Sam comes to his senses. -
Shot themselvs in the foot there I think, All the players loved Jose, His home record is nothing short of amazing, 2 premierships in three years and champions league semis. Mourihno is up there with Fergie & Wenger as one of the top managers in the world. Hope chelski fall apart now

Holding-Role, Wing-Backs, Free-Role, etc...
jaythesouthernmag replied to Geordie Boyo's topic in Newcastle Forum
If Viduka is injured I would play Smith up top with Oba or Owen any day of the week before Ameobi. The thing with Smith is he will play any position and give 100% which has led to him being used as a utility player at United and now a SJP, I still think he can do a good job up top when all our midfield players are fit, he just needs a run of games there -
When everyone is fit (I know) who is your holding mf?
jaythesouthernmag replied to Park Life's topic in Newcastle Forum
I agree with you, Faye is a big presence and gives us the height and power we lack, he would look good with Barton,Milner & Zog in a 4-4-2 against the weaker teams Away to the big 4 I would play Geremi----------Faye------------Butt ------------------Zoggy--------------- ----Owen/Martins---------------Viduka That will give us a solid base, a creative midfielder, presence up top and some pace. Cant see us shipping too many goals either -
Great news for the club, yet more proof that Roeder didnt have a scooby. 14 N`Zogbia shirt is now on order
-
I think if you look at our signings and the total outlay its proof that BS is one of if not THE best wheeler dealer there is. They are going to bring a lot to the table this season. Defenders Out.............Bramble,Huntington,Moore,Onyewu basicly a bunch of second rate players who would struggle to get in most premiership teams, net gain £500k Defenders In...............Rozey(Looks solid, proven international) Cacapa(Cant fault this fella, composed, proven winner)Beye(Good solid player, former captain) Enrique( Great spanish prospect, popular with Villarreal fans) Net cost £13m Midfielders Out............Dyer(Inconsistant,poor attitude, injury prone) Parker (Started well, limited ability)Luque(Did nowt)Nobby (great player, loved the little guy, will be sorely missed) net gain £16m (est £1m each for Nobby/Luque) Midfielders In..............Barton(dubious temprement, winning mentality, box to box player) Faye (Versatile, big fucker, ball winner) Geremi (Solid pro,Versatile, proven winner)Smith (tenacious, versatile, gives his all) net spend £14.8m Forwards Out..............Sibierski(Scored a few, limited ability, lacks strenghth) net gain £0 Forwards In................Viduka (strong, scores goals, good touch, bit hefty tho`) net spend £0 Total Spend .....................£11.3m (ISH) So BS has rebuilt the defence, strenghthened midfield and attack for less than we paid for Luque, The big fella is a genius IMO

Just watched the game on Football First and I was pretty impressed with our overall play and the chances we created, on another day it would have been 5 or 6 nil. Thought our defense looked composed when called upon, Cacapa looks like a very good player and fits in well with Rozenhal, be interesting to see what happens when Beye is ready for action. I agree with what has been said about Owen`s positional play, bloody excellent. He`s starting to look sharp and I reckon if he stays fit he can get us 25 goals this season. Ameobi on the other hand is bollocks. Oba looked lively when he came on, I would like to see him and Owen start together in a 4-4-2 with quality balls being played behind the oposition I think they would form quite a potent partnership, obviously punting long balls forward wouldnt work tho`. So five competative games, three clean sheets and no defeats plus Faye,Enrique,Beye,Duff & Emre to come into the squad. I think we can kick on and really go places this season

Now we know the squad, what is the best team

It didn't help that one wasn't match fit and the other wasn't registered in time. Better luck next time. If wit was shit you would be constipated -

Hope he starts Beye & Enrique, cant see it tho` probs Tayls at RB, more chance for Enrique than Beye IMO -

Finaly all the bull shit and speculation is over and we know who we have on board, so what is going to be the best team/formation. Providing we have everyone fit what would be the best starting eleven in both the 4-4-2 and a 4-4-3? Here`s mine 4-4-2- ---------------------------------------Given----------------------------------------- Beye-------------------Cacapa----------------Rozey-----------------------Enrique ------------------------------------Butt---------------------------------------------- Milner----------------------------Barton--------------------------------------Zoggy -------------------------Viduka---------------Martins------------------------------- Might replace Butt with Faye depending on how he settles in, Cant seem to justify Geremi ahead of Zog or Milner. Close call between Cacapa and Taylor but from what I`ve seen of him he looks a class act. Also I think Martins offers more than Owen in this formation. 4-3-3 ---------------------------------Given---------------------------------------------- Beye----------------Cacapa-------------Rozey--------------------------Enrique -----------------Smith--------Geremi------------Faye---------------------------- ---------Martins--------------Viduka---------------------------------------Zoggy I`m not a fan of this formation and I dont think the players are comfortable with it. When you look at our squad on paper its pretty impressive and I reckon some of the Big names are going to fing it hard to get in the team and when they do they are going to have to play their knackers off or they will be out again, unlike under Roeder where they got in regardless of their performances. Bloody hell I havent felt this good for ages

The official Deadline day transfer thread
jaythesouthernmag replied to Jimbo's topic in Newcastle Forum
I`m pretty happy with our signings, BS has done what neither souness or Roeder did by adding some steel and adressing our defensive issues. No token signings or so called superstars but players who want to win. I dont think losing Nobby is going to effect us as Zog,Milner,Duff,Barton and even Emre will offer options in attacking midfield roles.
