  5. I cant see JK changing the back four tonight from what played against WBA, hopefully beye will maraud down the right and support the ever impressive gutierrez, id think colo will man mark carew, and taylor on agbonlahor with enrique doing his bit at left back. I still dont know why some on here woud prefer him as our 1st choice LB, is it in hope that bassong will replace Taylor? Its not going to happen is it really? So id have basong LB but again i think enrique will start. As for midfield, id like to see gutierrez and duff on the flanks again and barton and guthrie (Not gutherie) in the engine room. Though i have a sneaky feeling as someone mentioned earlier that JK might put geremi in with barton. NO NO NO... Shola and martins will start imo and owen to come on and bag the winner in the second half. I hope butt plays no part in tonight at all! 1-1 Half time...Duff - Barry 2-1 Full time...Duff, Owen - Barry Come on lads!!
  6. One of three...Roberts volley against spurs, shearers volley against everton but probably ginola's volley against ferencvaros
  7. Considering how much we've seen of Xisco thus far, that's a pretty harsh call to make. Deportivo fans were legitmately upset when he left there, you wouldn't see that if he was complete rubbish. That said I wasn't impressed with the lines that he wasn't running when he came on late in the match against West Brom. He was a risky/foolish aquisition though, as leaving him rotting on the bench is going to decrease his value, and he'll bigger off back to Spain. Playing him might cost you a little in the short term (though could he really be worse than Shola*?) but it will help him adjust and improve his game. It's important that you can communicate and understand the way the players around you play - that would be tough with so little match time. * - Shola does really trouble the defenders though. Maybe a little harsh but no more, im sure you, like me can see a quality player a mile off, even a quality player maybe poor when moving to a new club and country but you still see glimpses of his ability. With xisco, he seems to have no inteligence on the pitch, he doesnt see any further that his feet. He doesnt see runs and certainly hasnt got a very good touch. Maybe il beproven wrong, but iv a nasty feeling he may not even be to the standard of luque!
  8. Couldnt agree more mate, thing with Xisco is, some think he cant be arsed...its not that...he's just shit! Luque the second.
  9. Personally i think he'd made a good captian. Vocal, works hard and leads by example (on the pitch) I was captain throughout my school days and for a year in sunday league and it seems to be the general idea that a midfield general is best bet for the captaincy...also being a cunt helps!
  10. Was it not like? Obsessive Compulsive disorder Aye if Colo could speak English I am sure it would stop Taylor playing like Bamble Well if he spoke english maybe they would have a better understanding together! Besty my old foe, why dont you just give your opinion on the topic itself rather than moaning like a lonely old man? I dont post this everyweek, and you mite find iv gave a my indepth insite to MY OPINION on what the team should be! Maybe if people replied with informed opinions what agree or argue the points i made then there wouldnt be any need to post it. The fact is you and a few others, insist on skerting around the actual point instead of actually saying anything of note...my guess is about 80% of your post are as pisspoorly thought out and lack in any substance at all...
  11. We've all got our opinions on individuals and who should start and what not, so what would your starting 11 and bench look like from a fully fit squad? I think theres 5 issues to take into consideration: 1- Central Defence partnership? Ok, we lack depth in this department which leaves us with not much choice. Taylor is a CB of massive potential but again is SO inconsistant its unreal, he and Coloccini could strike up a really solid backbone for us in time, i feel, like other indivuals, he is a one to be much better and consistant when things are going well. Im looking to him to really stand up and be counted in our current situation and he hasnt done it yet, its there, its inside him but i think only when we are in the upper reaches of the league will he come into his own. Il add to the argument, he has a quality CB partner in Colocinni, but i think what is hindering the pairs chances of builing a strong rappour together is the language barrier. Colo speaks limited english so this alone is a massive yet maybe unoticed obstacle. I have faith though that once colocinni has settled fully, learnt our language and we've climbed the table, the pair will be very good together. Cacapa is to slow and Edgar, Tozer and Kadar are far to green to be considered serious competition, the latter two yet to make there mark on the 1st team. 2- Bassong or Enrique? For me Bassong looks the more composed and concentrated, he reads the game well and isnt as wasteful as Enrique, Enrique just seems to lack confidence and concentration at times, he can be stirling, solid in a tackle and a great passer when on form, just too inconstistent for these hard times imo. 3- Centre Midfield paring? For me Barton is a quality box to box midfielder and should be our driving force in the middle, he is quite creative and works hard, the problem imo is who plays alongside him? Butt or Guthrie? Butt is experienced but for me he has been more liable than reliable of late, wastefull passing, conceding crucial freekicks not to mention he's lost his legs, has he lost the plot? I think so...So id go for the industrial Guthrie, his energy and ability to cover ground is more valuable to us than Butt's experience. And i truelly believe Barton and Guthrie could well turn out to be a very good partner ship for us. 4- Who to play left Wing? This is probably my biggest quandry, Duff is starting to look like the duff of old, nice touches releasing players, beating his man and generally being that little bit more productive with his final ball. Then there is the pace of N'Zogbia which frightens the life out of defenders, also he is likely to score more than duffers as he seems to have a good strike on him and in the past has proven to be a cool customer when in the box. Its a tough one, so il say stick with duff for next few games and if his form wanes...step up messer N'Zogbia! 5- Strike force? This is another problem, Im growing increasingly frustrated with Oba, we all know he is a quality player, scores great goals, is skillfull and quick but its hot and cold with him. And whether he and owen together would work? I think in a side not under so much pressure, he and owen could strike up a partnership but in these hard times im thinking Viduka's deft touch and guile would be a better option alongside owen. When, and i say when, we are back in the top half and the pressure's are lifted somewhat, i think Oba will come into his own and therefor do well upfront with owen. I just really want to see martins step up to the plate, gain some consistentcy, not be so wasteful, because he is one, if not the one who can really pull us out the mire when on his game! That all being said this is how my team would look... Given Beye Coloccini Taylor Bassong Gutierrez Barton Guthrie Duff Martins Owen Subs: Harper, Cacapa, Enrique, Butt, Viduka, N'Zogbia, Ameobi Then there's the small matter of who should stay and who should go..............
  12. It was a rather indifferent performance from the boys thnight... At times going forward we looked very dangerous, especially when the likes of Duff and Jonas ran witht he ball. Then at other times we looked out of idea's, martins was hot and cold, so to was shola, xisco was well...Shit! Defence was a funny thing, colo and taylor looked solid at times and again at others they were woeful, colo's mistake for the goal was rather bramblesque... All in all it was a game very much of two halfs...the good and the bad, but still some glimmers of positivity of whats to come. Oh and well done Joey Barton...MOM and i think rightly so, though duff and jonas would of come close! Given: 7 Not alot to do Enrique: 6 Shaky at times but still not match fit (Id have bassong ahead of him imo) Beye: 7 Glimpses of the Habib from last season...solid Taylor: 6 Indifferent Colocinni: 6 Solid on the whole but few nervy moments, at fault for the goal Duff: 8 Consistantly beat his man, real force going forward Jonas: 8 Full of energy and assertiveness Guthrie: 7 Worked hard Barton: 8 Silenced a few critics, was diciplined and worked hard, made a few excellant passes and a good penalty! Martins: 7 Indifferent, not match fit, frustrating but got his goal Ameobi: 7 Worked hard, won so many headers and very good general play Geremi: Slow and wasteful Xisco: Shit and shit Carrol:..... 1st win in two months, and promising at times!
  13. Kinnear was tactically inept today...in the big games it calls for big BOLD tactical substitutions. On 60 mins sunderland started turning the screw and a few of our boys were looking leggy. I thought it was obvious to bring Jonas on for geremi, N'Zogbia for duff and Barton should of been brought on in the 1st half when but was first got the knock. Giving him an injection is NOT the answer and could of only made matters worse. I am getting increasingly frustrated with butts clumbsiness around the box...just how many goals conceded has he been at fault for this season? Im guessing 3 or 4? Overall a really frustrating day at the office... Chin up lads...onwards and upwards
  14. You said he'd score two lol yeah But why say he'll get sent off? if anything he'll be out to prove his mentality is much stronger now, just assuming he's the type to get sent off isnt really giving the boy a chance to prove he's changed is it? If anyone is going to get sent off it'l be guthrie tbh
  15. Shaky first 25mins then we settled after goal, good header from ameobi who actually has been pretty good. Martins needs to step up his game, he's frustrating me now! Geremi is wank and why not start with duff on right and charlie on left??? Butt to come off before he does to much damage...enter joey barton to score the winner!! And whatever mong said he'd be sent off...Shut the fuck up man you tool! 2nd half prediction: SAFC 1 - 2 NUFC
  16. Man U were majestic at times and still only in 3rd geer, celtic were piss poor...no spirit whatsoever! Arsenal were pretty good, class, battle and incisivness...they are on the up
  17. It really doesnt matter who ref's the game, officiating on the whole in england, across the board is of a pisspoor standard... Im warming to the idea of foreign refs, but again theres far too many pro's and con's in that... Give the 4th official a headset, a mic and a laptop...give the ref the ability to stop the game for 30sec to a minute for the 4th official to make the decision and problem solved! And if the decisions still fucked up we will know the game is corrupt......im 60/40 in believing it is already........either that or the FA are totally inept an incompatent at recruiting and managing officials.
  18. Yes your correct on your 1st point, and secondly id go with that back four and not have too many worries but ideally id not want a total foreign back four... Taylor has massive ability and i honestly think in a team with confidence and playing well consistantly he will turn out to be a very VERY good centre half! I know there will be people who'll strike up an issue with me for this but its MY opinion.
  19. Iv been very impressed with bassong all season, and to those who say he doesnt offer much going forward il disagree, i think he is always pushing the halfway line when in possesion and if i remember correctly he hit a few nice crossfield balls last night. Id make him firstchoice simply becasue id like to see how him and charlie link up down the left on a more regular basis. Defensively he is very competant, composed and solid in the tackle! I think a BIG mention has to go to steven taylor and colo last night, the pair performed brilliantly together for probably the 1st time. Il get my hardhat but...I actually am starting to have some faith in our back four... Beye Taylor Coloccini Bassong Yes i know we have conceded 4 goals in 2 games and in normal circumstances that would be seen as poor but when you look at the collective performances in defence and the fact that 2 of those goals have come from the spot it really isnt such a stupid statement after all...i think?
