  1. Tsk tsk. Toontastic was a stand alone forum long long before NO. NO was created by joined a couple of forums together, the idea to make one big forum. But, never really worked out as all the forums had their own ID's and poster styles clashed. This TT then split back off to become solo again. I tend to find this forum is full of generally older heads with a more balanced look. Other forums imo are a bit blinkered.

Fucking hell What next? Look at me look at me, I'm drinking a PINT!
  3. He's getting a bit of stick for over hyping it like
  4. Thing with Leeds was they they spent well past their means to get into the Champions League and failed. (and goldfish wasnt it? ). IIrc that was the start of their demise. Im sure (this is my memory we are relying on here, not so good...) that people did question us at the time saying we could do a Leeds but we never did. Our decline was more gradual due to managerial fuck ups. We recovered under Robson but purchases were mixed (for every Robert we had a Viana) and millions were wasted. Perhaps after SBR left and we still seemed to be ploughing millions to the manager (who you have to get behind and they did). Fat Sam made some canny signings tbf but the football was awful and the new owner didnt like it. I agree at the time of purchase the finances were poor, but I disagree we were about to go under. Many have disregarded that remark to say this club would always have been picked up and turned around so to speak. Anyway, thats a side issue. The point the wheel started coming off purely in my opinion was when we got rid of SBR and replaced him with a total wanker. He dismantled the team when he was meant to solve a small problem of attitude. He was as bad if not worse than the players and rather than solve it he just got rid.
  5. If you are playing CL football I reckon its easier to get a player on a lesser wage. Plus you are comparing one player against an average. I bet those teams have a load of players above their average and a lot of much lower earners pulling the average down (obvious I know ). As for his worth, I have no idea, but £50K p/w is a figure I've had in my head (based on current figures) but I have no idea on the actual wages paid, only hearsay. My issue on Barton is simply that it will cost more to replace him than give him the extra year he wants. Wage isnt the issue just length of contract.
  6. Tbf, deep breath here, Im going to agree with LM on this one. the point he is making is that at the time, when we were "riding high", how many of us gave a fuck about the finances? How many thought "careful Fred, can we afford to be pushing for the champions league here?", how many of us (I know I was) were spitting in fury at our season of "keeping our powder dry" when we all wanted further investment. It's easy to look back now and say "you were wrong Fred", but tbf, we were all happy at the time. I know I was.
  7. Carroll for £35M is fair enough. But Barton aside, why do you think players want to leave? Barton spoke of the Owner needing replacing, he can see that he isnt someone to take us forward. Players want to leave generally if the club has a lack of ambition. That ambition or lack of is shown by conceding the loss of your players to other teams without even trying to keep hold by convincing them where we are heading. Paying wages at a level that prevents top players from staying. KK's view was always "why shouldnt we go for that player?", his view was never "he will never come here". These days we have failed to get a player before we even try. Same for those we have now. How often are we hearing "well if he doesnt want to stay what can we do?". How about try and fucking convince him? Unless you know you dont have a good arguement that is.
  8. The time and whether it was a waste is immaterial, but it's a fact that the years in europe and the expansion of the stadium, and what that brought, was "wasted" or squandered if you prefer. We were about to drop into the old third division, let alone the stadium. Everything about the club, yes the liabilities but also the merchandising and corporate sales side was vastly improved. I would take us at the point Mike bought the club to when John Hall did easily. The paradox being that John Hall (now) wouldn't. And that's not me either agreeing or disagreeing with the point made either-just trying to illustrate how pointless the argument has now become. Well, I agree he wouldnt. He's a very switched on bloke. He could see the cash that could be made from rescuing the club, growing and then floating it. The club could be bought and refloated again but the same kind of mark up couldnt be made. But, I'd still say we're in a better position now (or when MA bought the club) than when SJH bought it.

  10. Never mind that, you pointed out that lass with her tits oot yet
  11. Two points off third
  12. Fact is they left it much as they found it. omg Even I have to back LM on that one like. We were left waaaaaaaaay ahead of where we were when they left. Just look at the Stadium? The players we had, where we had been. Blah blah, cant be arsed but the differences were vast.

Best suggestion I can give is what I was told. Read up on composition, depth of field and exposure. Then practice! Thats it.
  15. Not Derek Llambias, he'll fuck you hard and fast
  16. From what I read somewhere we offered 2 year deal with possible 1 year extension and he wanted 3 year deal with 1 year extension. Wages I dont think were an issue. If that is even close to being true, then it is mental and short sighted. Either way, Derek Llambias is a cunt.
  17. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Everytime, every single time I read anything at all that includes the words "Derek Llambias" I feel pissed off. Every time. Fucking madness. How much to replace a player of his calibre? Short sighted fucking idiots.
  18. Hang on, Stone Cold is clearly taking the piss DEADMAN, see he has tried to sneak your avatar pic in the back of his as well????
  19. Except the salary, the trophies and the popularity. Well, he may have had tha popularity. Thats it like. In the City he plays perhaps. Not worldwide. He wants Adidas putting him in glossy ads before films and that...not Donnay using his picture in the chronicle. A fair point. Anyway, give him a year and he will be mixed in with the scouse scallies.

  21. I thnk it was the right deal for both him and us, not that I like it.

good mate of mine is a Taff, and a Cardiff supporter. He has told me for a couple of years he thinks that Boothroyd is pretty good like and may be able to step up, but replacing Carroll ? Underwhelming to say the least, and those who are saying everythings alright, don't worry etc, because he's just a squad player, I wouldn't count your chickens on that one or getting anybody substantially better. Id be underwhelmed but still, who says it's to replace Carroll? How do we even know what formation AP has in mind for next season and if a "Carroll" is needed? From what I read, it sounds like he'll be playing someone like Ben Arfa off a front man and if so then you would think a decent holding man is needed and Carroll was shaping up to be that. But, to me at least 3 of our forwards need shipping out. At least. So Id want us to bring 3 in. Not one.
