Oh man ... if that had come off! At least we are creating chances!
-
Steven's having a good day!
-
At least we're looked lively at the start of this half.

No, you're right ... just a pity after mostly solid play.
-
Fuck ... and we were doing okay there for a moment. Fuck, Ryan ...
-
Exciting last few minutes ... Ba should have done better there. Good ball in by Yohan.

I'd love a 0-0 draw of killer saves from Tim, hard tackles from Colo and Cabaye and Sammi peppering the Man City frame.

I'm fucking amped for this match. Cannot wait. However, come 5 pm GMT that might all change.

Maybe I'm wrong, but what MA seems all about is maximising brand power ... hence, of course, the Sports Direct Arena and the way he's splashed SD all over the building itself. Along with that, he knows that "Newcastle United Football Club" is a world-known brand. (Among the top eight in the world ... wasn't it recently calculated when people were trying to find out how much we'd get from any changes of TV rights deals?) Outside of the UK, no-one knows the name "Sports Direct" and he can't market from a zilch level of public perception ... while he can do that with the NUFC brand. He's hitching his wagon to the NUFC name. He's fine with changing SJP's name because it's only known to a limited degree ... and while Newcastle United isn't quite as well-known to the overseas layperson as Liverpool, Braca or Man U, it's still a recognisable brand name that people will have some perceptive link to. Llambias stated that SJP's name was changed after consultation with various 'knowledgeable' marketing companies. Those same marketing companies aren't gonna suggest changing NUFC's name. That MA seems to know the worth of brand power MIGHT be our saving grace when it comes to our club name. I hope ...

Here's how Lawro starts his Man City v Toon preview (which he says will be a 2-0 loss for us). But not you, I bet ... you dumb bastard. Can't stand that man.

Fucking ace! You have to tweet that far and wide. Utterly brilliant.

Hah! I haven't been around. What was the cause of this? ----------- IGNORE: I've read the answer just a few points above.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp will stand trial for tax evasion early in the New Year. Redknapp, 65, charged under his full name Henry James Redknapp, and former Portsmouth owner Milan Mandaric are charged with two counts of cheating the public revenue dating from their involvement at the south-coast club in 2007. It is alleged that the pair fraudulently concealed payments totalling $295,000 from HM Revenue and Customs by paying the money into a Monaco bank account opened by Redknapp specifically for the purpose. The payments are alleged to have been made by Mandaric in two tranches, one of $145,000 and a second of $150,000, between April 1 2002 and Nov 28 2007.

RT @SkySports: Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will face trial for tax evasion next year.

Rumours that Redknapp has left Spurs. One says that it's health related, the other that internal revenue is investigating him.

Llambias - "we will need replacements in the summer"
dbsweeney replied to Monroe Transfer's topic in Newcastle Forum
The kind way of looking at it is that we'll need replacements for those who leave for the African Cup of Nations. But the actuality is ... All I want is for MA and Llambias to stop being so backhanded about it all and to stop treating us like little kids who need to be told a lesson. Just come out and say the truth for once, eh? -
No word yet on the length of his groin .... injury?

Luckily, haven't known any friends or family who've had testicular cancer. Meanwhile, I'm astonished by how many friends and family (my mum, my wife's mum, my sister-in-law, my aunt (x 3), my best mate's wife) who've had breast cancer. Thank christ, they all came out well after it all!

Pretty relaxed ... Took a RDO off from work because not much is happening at the moment. Cleaned the house, which means there's one less thing to do this weekend. (Hello weeding.) As for the club, being such a distance away makes me feel like there's not much I can do about what's happening. Makes me feel a bit angry, yet useless. Sometimes I'm ashamed that I spend so much mental energy thinking about football when I have friends who are going through a shiteworse situation at the moment than being worried about the name of my club's stadium. (Incurable cancer for a 33-year-old, another going through dire financial straits.) Standing back from it all, I'm really VERY lucky. Happily married, own a house, have a job, happy with my two dogs ... sick and tired of the looks people give when we tell then that having children isn't on our horizon.
