  1. I'd honestly be ashamed to let people read this if I'd written it. I'm not surprised though-I did a week's work placement at the Chronicle a couple of years ago, and the absolute stupidity of the people there was beyond belief. If there was ten brain cells between the whole staff, I'd be amazed.
  2. Judging by this game, Chelsea are going to walk all over the mackems on Sunday. We win, we stay up. Easy!
  3. Villa are going to win with ease. I'd say 3-1 (and I'm being optimistic saying that we'd score), and Milner is an almost certainty to get the last goal and seal our fate. They might be in a bad run at the minute, but they'll be wanting to end the season on a high and make a last push for 5th.
  4. After yesterday, I'm almost tempted. But not quite.
  5. This is why I planned my wedding for the international weekend in October If I'm not happy about missing a match for my own wedding, it seems unfair to inflict it upon the guests too. As for the game, I'd go same as Monday night. I doubt Jonas could be quite as bad again, and I think Lovenkrands is a better option coming on when the opposition are tiring. Oba didn't look fit on Monday so it's too much of a risk to start him.
  6. Coraline. Amazing animation and enchanting story...absolutely loved it, and will probably go see it again within the week. 9/10
  7. Just saw Wolverine. It wasn't bad, actually...a bit all over the place, but it was entertaining throughout and Jackman/Schreiber were great. 6/10
  8. Didn't we have Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube-Men a couple of seasons back? They were at the Leazes End next to the goal, for the first home game of the season. Some of it was a bit cringeworthy last night-however, the atmosphere in my bit (in the first half, at least) was the best it's been all season, bar the mackem match...so I'll take a bit of embarrassment as long as that can keep going to the end of the season.

    In Bruges

I've been to Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels and thought Ghent was by far the best of the lot. Gorgeous city centre and really quiet, with hardly any tourists around. Best part about Antwerp was probably the really random Greggs in the middle of the city!
  10. 3000, it should be the two sections nearest the away fans, cos the rest don't stand or sing. I'm in the section of the Leazes Corner furthest from the away fans and I assure you, I stand and sing every game. Admittedly there's plenty of idiots in my bit, but some of us do make an effort. You all sit, thats a fact, I'm two rows above the exit, second block from the away fans, and I look over and see a pocket near the back, the rest arms folded looking like they belong in the east stand. There's one ugly slapper with a mackem accent, black curly hair looks like Sid The Sexists ma but she's only my age, wandering round level 7 all through the game. That aint you is it? So like I said, we don't all sit. I'm three rows from the back and there's a good chunk of us in the back three rows that stand for every game. You're right though, most of the rows below me do sit down. For some reason we tend to get all of the tourists and screaming teenage girls in our bit. Good company for yee then So you have a go when people don't stand and sing, and when I say I stand and sing, you have a dig at me being a lass? Is there anyone who goes to the match that you don't have a problem with? The kid on my left is a canny lad. Leanne I know you're a medical receptionist or something but you have to realise when people are saying things tongue in cheek. You bite too much pet Hey, it's hard when every time you go the match people assume you're only there to squeal at Michael Owen/Steven Taylor/random opposition players. My automatic state is defensive these days

  12. 4-2. Think I might turn this off now.
  13. 2-1 at Old Trafford. Penalty, disgraceful decision by Howard Webb.
  14. She would just have to settle for the league cup, a top four finish and a Champions league semi final. Poor dear I know...heartbreaking, isn't it?
  15. I think it would be hilarious if Man U blew the league. My best friend is a ST holder at Old Trafford and loves to tell me how much she suffers as a Manchester United supporter Harsh as it sounds, it would be slightly amusing to see how she'd handle it if something actually did go wrong for them.
  16. Mmmm yeah, I'm nothing if not macho I do think standing helps contribute to the atmosphere though. From my seat, it seems like all of the noise is coming from those who stand for most of the game. I personally prefer to stand at the match but I'll go with whatever seems to create the best atmosphere tbh...and I feel like there's more energy and noise when there's more people standing.
  17. Definitely...I've been saying all week that it looks bad for them if they blow it today. They could quite easily not get another point this season with their remaining fixtures.

  19. This. But with Enrique replacing Edgar if he's fit enough.
  20. Can't stand him. I'm sure the media do print a lot of shite about him, but they're not likely to shut up anytime soon, no matter how many radio shows he rings up. And he does seem to believe that he's the only person in the world that ever had a parent die.
