  1. So you havent even seen it? Call yourself a tory, ffs. He's no statesmen, more of a light entertainer. His best line was about being called a mop or mop-haired 'well if i'm a mop then Cameron is a broom, cleaning up the mess that Labour left behind'. The tories are liars, the deficit was not caused by Labour's excesses and as much as Boris is a great speaker, as he tried to make that point, his logic, diction and gravitas failed him as he wasnt building an argument, just delivering a message. The deficit issue is a lie though and the austerity policy is a failure, look at the economies who have not implemented austerity and look at those who have. 'Just you wait, in the long-term we'll be shown to be right' said Hague yesterday. Tough titties baldy, you'll be out of government in the long term as no one wants austerity. There will be some bounce for Cameron today, there always is but one thing is for sure, this government has got its economic policy wrong and saying they havent only fools idiots. A 3rd quarter of recession as predicted cant be swept under the carpet or blamed on the Ed Balls.
  2. Soopafangansballisticleazesisamentalist!
  3. Trick question. There's no such thing as platelets.
  4. They hate jews and hence money-lending though, neither are good examples. I'll give you the hypocrisy angle and the last example was shit too.
  5. Be interesting to see the details, there so much smoke and mirrors about it all the only way to be 100% clear will be with the accounts in a few years time.
  6. Shit examples of mistakes happening, its a risky business using a pay day lender if things go wrong but those arent examples really. I would expect to you to be able to find at least 2 where lives were fucked up by this. I've seen lives fucked up by high street bank charges though, in more distressing ways than that. Try again, i'm willing to look at all the evidence first and then show you how hypocritical you are.
  7. Not a pay day loam company then Thats loan sharks. Borrowed 3000 from a pay day lender means their pay slip is bigger than 3000. You cant get into arrears with a pay day loan company as you need to have pay going into your bank to get it and the day the pay goes in, you pay it back. You cant take a loan out for more than you earn and you cant roll over the loan as it debited directly.
  8. Stevie / Parky, can you post up links to these stories of people's lives being destroyed by pay day lenders? You both make strong cases but without backing it up with any actual anecdotes or examples of where this is actually happpening. I think they are morally dubious at best and i am sure there are example of people getting trapped i jut wonder hos prevalent it is. I think they are exploiting a niche in the market and its become and massive business for them. I will go off and get the evidence to show how gambling and drinking destroys lives and then we can compare notes later. To settle it, print off all the data, hoy it doon the stairs and whoever's dossier makes the biggest racket, wins. Sound fair?
  9. Interesting question though. Lots of people who love a particular art form dont want to own an inferior digital copy, music lovers increasingly buy Vinyl in some 'segments', film lovers may continue to purchase the real media of films that they love. I stopped buying CDs and Vinyl then after a few years of buying or acquiring digital music suddenly realised that i actually wanted to own the media. Having said that, if you've got loads of films on your hard drive, media solutions like Plex are great for browsing and using that collection.
  10. He's a top lad and a great writer.
  11. Bale's was just as bad and tbh i'd rather see his face smashed in, the jumped up little prick.
  12. Science is a form of epistemology which forms the basis of our 'knowledge'. The greatest scientific thinker who ever lived, who basically gave us the modern scientific framework would respectfully disagree. Evolution is a very strong theory, virtually proven but not entirely. To attempt to explain life by science and then not uphold yourself to the highest and most stringent standards of the discipline in that pursuit, is self-deception of the worse kind. The whole point of randomisation to control for unobserved differences in samples and controlling for the observed differences with deliberate inclusion/exclusion, is the objective of falsification. Every scientific study ever run (not just those in lab conditions) has this objective. So observational data is adjusted to account for the selection bias, so RCTs follow strict rules. Evolution as a theory can not be falsified. That does not make it untrue, i believe 100% that it is true. However, the limitations of our scientific method should be honestly accepted.
  13. Just thought it interesting to mention that the electronic hoardings around St Mary's are showing a message 'sponsorship opportunities with SFC' basically advertising that you can advertise during the match. This means there is dead space on those hoardings during a game which shows how weak the market is.
  14. How is it a calamity? You might not like the company but then I don't know of any corporation in a position to spend millions on sponsorship who could not be torn apart for one reason or another. I hate Wonga but they are no different to a betting company, in fact from a social equality perspective, the betting company is worse. Alcohol companies are responsible for worse social outcomes than pay day lenders. That all said, I'd have preferred Sports Direct to Wonga as a shirt sponsor. Not sure how it's a calamity though, we wanted a sponsor who pays more money and it not to be SD, I don't remember anyone demanding a brand with values commensurate with ethical modern living. Mainly because you'd have sounded like a twat tbf.
  15. Wallonia is just an old French province. The beer making traditions from Trappists etc is as much a feature of Nord Pas De Calais as it is in Belgium. Stevie's diagnosis of the culture in Wallonia is incidentally a reflection on north eastern french culture. The people in Flanders are nowt like the Walloons but you wouldn't notice that in Brussels as they all speak French there anyway. The Walloons are French, the Flanders lot are Dutch hence the country itself always feels a bit pointless to me. As for the similarities with the north east, interestingly that whole region between Lille and Brussels was known as the Miners Basin.
  16. What can I say, i've come along way. My running locations last week were simply stunning. From sunrise over the alps, to the gardens of an imperial palace in Vienna. 25km too, i'd hate for you to think i was exaggerating.
  17. The lass had probably been on the lash with a load of fireman.
  18. Indeed, i do wonder why we do it. You've got to confront your fears i guess? Its not rumination really, its more like a short spell of imagining the worse happening to you.
  19. I got it before the summer, was a cracking purchase for the various holidays we were on. Now its on my desk for radio 4 (which i cant get over here) from my phone.
  20. I cant imagine anything worse to happen in life. I'd rather be beaten to death in horrible pain than lose my daughter. I sometimes daydream/imagine the worse (dont know how to describe it) where i play out a scenario in my head (dont know why) and it makes me shake and sweat. I'm quite liberal when it comes to crime and punishment, i believe people make mistakes and when they go to jail they can reform themselves but a crime like this its like an animal attacking someone, the only thing to do is put them down.
  21. I like your thinking although to be honest, its more likely to be for Charlotte's 3rd birthday party than a Paris club nowadays.
