  1. Thats why its quite hard for us to write good CVs at this stage because we've just not had the life experience older people have had. I had an Assesment Centre thing the other week for a grad job and strangely I was the only person there still at Uni (spotted the talent tbh), everyone else was about 25 and had so much more to say about themselves simply because they'd had more time to build up experience etc. You look better as everyone knows the other s have been fucking about trying not to work. Use that to your advantage 'I just cant wait to start...' etc.
  2. I was rushing to be home by midnight and lost a shoe once. Woke up in Patrokles flower thread.
  3. I think that's pretty spot on, and even though stuff is more coursework-based than it used to be, it still just about passing. Re: your second chapter, I really don't know what I'm going to do if / when me and wor lass have kids for their schooling. Just send them to a good school. Hadn't thought of that, cheers I'm considering just owning dogs instead anyway. Less hassle. But where are you going to take them for obedience training? Most of the time nowadays, it's just about teaching the dogs to sit down, rather than teaching them why they should be sitting. I'll teach them myself. Or go on Dog Borstal. You need to send the dog not gan yerself.
  4. If you don't look up googled quotes you're a moron tbh, 9 times out of 10 they are picked paragraphs that don't mean what people are implying they mean when read in context with the full text. And not surprisingly this was one of the NINE times out of 10 where that WAS the case. I resent that It referred to the exact meaning of the phrase. People who use it to mean sore loser do exist but they are not using the phrase correctly as backed up by wikipedia and yourself.
  5. Meh I see people spell crack "craic" on here all the time which is a completely made up spelling of a pre-existing borrowed word which has recently been reborrowed. If you're that worried about it write to your MP, but I'm fairly sure what I mean by sour grapes would stand up in a grammar nazi court of law under fair use. (and indeed is very evident in this thread) That sounds like sour grapes to me.
  6. No, but others seem to be obsessed by it. Not alex tbf. Mainly Gemmill, MancMag plus loads of randoms who've never met me! alex wouldnt have a leg to stand on anyway
  7. And in fact this is just an example of its continuation (as I suspect you well know). But frankly if you cannot genuinely see your own sour grapes in this thread (which I very much doubt) then I suspect pointing it out to you isn't going to help much. Fuck me just admit you can't explain where I've displayed it (or used the wrong phrase). Saying you just did there doesn't count btw. If you'd said I was a pedantic twat or whatever I wouldn't have had an argument. Pedantic twat.
  8. Sour grapes is the false denial of desire for something sought but not acquired, to denigrate and feign disdain for that which one could not attain. This metaphor originated from the fable The Fox and the Grapes by Aesop, where the protagonist fox fails to reach some grapes hanging high up on a vine, retreats, and says that the grapes are sour anyway. What you on about Fop?
  9. I'd rather we didnt discuss each others grapes tbh.
  10. Get her up the QE in Gateshead, they'll look after her.
  11. There are loads of dynamics at play. Worse parenting? Worse teaching? Worse schools? Easier exams?
  12. Yeah but you thought Parky was on the wind up for months
  13. Probably went to the Emirates to watch a decent match. is what i was thinking.
  14. "some of my best friends are geologists and engineers" - but I'm not one I had read this weeks Economist TBH but Ididn't feel it was worth posting the obvious I stick by my point that there is sommat very very wrong with our teachers when they turn out so many under achievers Am sure you have more than a passing interest in those subjects though and that wasnt a denial of the industry either...
  15. statement made by club on monday in link above. Anyway, anyone else tried to get to Griffin Park? Its a fucking nightmare, trains are shit from Waterloo and that stretch of the M4 is mental in rush hour. I reckon he couldnt believe they were playing in the shit hole that is Brentford and went off to find a proper ground.
  16. He isn't really 'missing' though is he? So no then? No other quotes to go on? And this means...? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/6332423.stm
  17. The worst i have ever seen him play on saturday. Indecisive, poor control and lacking confidence. In terms of it being too early to say then just look at how Butt has sorted himself out as an example of a player rediscovering lost form. Waste of money so far though, apart from the goal at West Ham which was vital for 3 points.
  18. Has anything else been reported apart from the quotes from the Nigerian manager?
  19. Couldnt think of anywhere else to put this
