Is The Fish too, for expressing the exact opposite sentiment? Apparently. Makes about as much sense as expecting a better manager to be appointed.

I'm forever waiting for the beat to kick back in.

Paraphrasing Thomas on failing to accept our own death? Aye that works.

When public spending is bigger than tax revenue, governments have to borrow money from the bond market to pay their teachers and nurses. If you default, the bond market wont lend you any more money. Greek default therefore means leaving the Euro and hugely devaluing the domestic currency, which will in turn mean no one buys foreign products and everyone consumes domestic products. I guess the trick is to devalue to such an extent that the real wage levels of public workers fall to such an extent that borrowing for them is not essential (or something, i've not really thought it all the way through). However, even with the drachma, suddenly balancing the current account and the deficit seems like a massive long shot. Bottom line is that even under a floating drachma, the Greeks will still need to borrow on the foreign debt markets to function in the short and long term. One thing is clear to most, Greece's debt is not manageable and Merkel's prudent east german housewife act has gone on long enough.

Got 1600 off the price of a suite in Tenerife off the back of a TripAdvisor blag. They threw in free transfers too. Still lumpy but delighted with the outcome. Currently in the W in Verbier which is very nice. Been walking in snow shoes up a mountain today and the sledged it back down after a meal in some chalet. Amazing scenery.

My brother used to live in St Mary's when he was at college down there for a couple of years. He said it was a shithole (back then) and my abiding memory of the stories he used to tell was him coming home late at night and there would often be a prosser knocking around outside his flat who would ask him every time 'business love?'. It being a major port, the place is over-run with whores and blokes with eye-patches and peg legs.

Recommend me a good restaurant in Newcastle

There is definitely that. There is also the fact that no chef / kitchen can produce to order 30+ different options unless the food is not fresh and is either micro-waved or re-heated. If there are lots of items on the menu, there will be very little actual cooking going on in the kitchen. If there are lots of items on the menu AND low prices, its a guarantee that CT is in the kitchen. -
We were discussing him over breakfast, she spat her croissant at me when i brought him up.

Thanks for posting the Newsnight interview/ However, don't you think youtube videos, clearly made with strenuous efforts to edit dialogue, with awful faux-emotional music playing over the top are the sort of things we should be censoring?

Small menu is an indication of quality. Large menus are a definite mark of poor quality. -
Dieudonne, the outspoken muslim comic who had to buy his own theatre so he could perform is 'offensive' comedy show has been arrested for a facebook post. Freedom of expression my arse. However, there are important differences. A muslim shop owner from Slough was interviewed anonymously by radio 4 this morning. When told the newspaper would run with another image of the prophet he was disgusted and said there would be consequences. When told that the cartoon said the terrorists were forgiven, he said 'oh, i see' but still insisted it was offensive to show the prophet. This notion of 'showing an image of the prophet is offensive' is a contemporary interpretation of the religion and also fundamentally a load of shite. What sort of spiritual movement bans images on pieces of paper of a man who was a prophet? Historical images of the prophet flourished hundreds of years ago. The modern interpretation is not only tenuous but also, from the perspective of anyone with the ability for rational thought, a bit stupid. How can the production of an image relate in any shape or form to the fundamentals of morality and spirituality? It simply doesnt. Charlie Hebdo wanted to lambast the imposition of a rule on a foreign culture. How does the religion of Islam have the right to dictate what images are presented in France's newspapers? France is a secular state so its legal and moral framework is based on consequences of actions (consequentialist morality being the only coherent form that allows our laws to function in a meaningful way - e.g. a hostage disarmed and killed Coubilaly. Under religious laws (thou shalt not kill), the hostage should be punished. Thats why all legal systems are consequentialist and essentially secular). There are NO consequences of putting an image of the prophet on a piece of paper. There ARE consequences of people using tenuous interpretations of scripture to generate a sense of offence that invokes killing for producing that image. The freedom of expression debate is complicated and i dont believe it is an absolute right. I would not walk up to the biggest and hardest looking lad in a bar and start taking the piss and expect to not be hit because of 'freedom of expression'. The issue is one of values and morality and ultimately, there is going to be an element of subjectivity in determining how the rules in these instances should work. My subjective view is a group of individuals who are prepared to issue death threats, provoke violence, issue fatwahs against the production of an image are morally inferior to those who wish to lambast the archaic notion of non-consequentialist morality - i.e. religion.

You can negotiate your own tax rate with each Canton in Switzerland. Before you move there with a net worth north of $10m, you get your accountant to speak with each Fiscal department of the Canton. They will offer various deals and rates with conditions on purchasing of assets, commitment to time living there etc. Some donations to local institutions also form part of the deal. Swiss democracy The Swiss are utter cunts, Germans without the charm and French without the good looks, food and wine. Its a racist, self-absorbed, corrupt state of bankers. Off to Verbier next week which will be beautiful. Got a mate who lives there who wants to leave 'I just stare at the mountain all day, its driving me crazy'. Nice for a visit.

Because they move for the money. Also once you're on a Chelsea salary, the inevitable (or not) move later will likely have a better salary as the new reference point in salary negotiations is much higher. Makes sense from a money perspective which is all that Ba's management are arsed about.

Whilst I agree there is an issue there, the demo was banned for public order reasons as there was going to be tear up. Those planning to demonstrate didn't have their right to publish or write anything banned.

Its usually a frenchmen somewhere along the way who gets you into it. Mine is our lass's dad. He has 3 daughters who are not that interested in drinking. He struggled to get more than one bottle on the table at sunday lunch when i first met him because his wife and kids complained he drank too much. When i joined the family lunches, he was delighted to have someone who wanted to learn about wine (i.e. get pissed with him). He has taught me loads just by making me taste different things. Now we start with 2 bottles on the table for lunch and he uses me as an excuse. Its an arrangement both of us are happy with.
