I remember a few years back when Chris Hughton bought him a nice vase for his 40th birthday, it was a nice touch that.
  2. Yeah, without his prosthetic legs getting in the way, he could be subject to some rather aggressive bumming positions.
  3. 3 x revenue is the starting point of any valuation FTSE index is around 6.5k today which is where it was in 2007. Since the club was valued on the market at 135m ish back then, it should be at least that. Then you add in value growth in the sector and the fact that football has been largely resilient to the broader economic trends in 2008 -2011 (+ massive growth in TV revenue) and its easy to put a valuation of 200m+ on us. If that's a debt free price with a wage/turnover ratio of < 70% with a squad capable of staying in the premiership, i think there would be buyers.
  4. Krugman's op-ed in the IH&T today calling the Scots out on the economic foolishness of a yes vote. Basically saying if they keep the pound their economy will be about as resilient as the Spanish in a crisis.
  5. Split Arse. First time I ever heard that was when my brother's manc mate found out his second child was going to be a girl. "Fucks sake Geordie it's another fucking split-arse". Rarely left speechless but I had no idea what to say to that.
  6. I like Actress, I've got Splazsh and RIP. Maze off Splazsh is superb, needs a track mixed underneath it though. Kraftwerk-esque. Caves of Paradise and Lords of Graffiti off RIP are good too. I do prefer it when he makes tracks that can translate in some way to a club environment, even just for listening purposes.
  7. Squeamish. Going to see an ophthalmologist later on so he can look inside my eyeball to see if the infection i have is caused by a foreign object inside the eyeball. Out running in the park a week ago and something flew into my eye. Probably an insect, now its infected. Excellent.
  8. Timing is important, if all those quotes come from a successful period (we have had them) then so what. If he is saying those things when its been going badly then he needs to have a bit of a word. Still cant see the problem though. One of our best ever players gets slagged off because he is trying to be upbeat about his job and his employer. If he is asked directly a question on Ashley, your suggested approach would have him down the route to self employment quite quickly. Its a bit over the top but the fact that he is overly positive makes him a good candidate not a bad one.
  9. I think that very harsh on Beardsley. I dont know whether the young player he fell out with was a total cock and needed a slap or whether Beardsley is ineffective with people. Thats something no one really knows/ However, the idea that he 'arse licks' Ashley is one of the worst examples of school playground thinking that gets mistaken for a point of view on here. Not picking on you directly fish, loads of other say it, i just think its unfair. And i'm not saying this because you lost your job either but you know in most jobs, being pleasant and nice to the boss is a fundamental. I mean its not even considered ambitious, its just that in every job, the boss get paid respect publicly by everyone. Doing anything else is idiocy. What do people want? A manager who speaks his mind and says how it is about Ashley? I'd vote 'dont sack Pardew' if that was the alternative.
  10. He didnt ruin Debuchy, he didnt ruin Ba, he didn't ruin Cabaye, he hasnt ruined Tiote and he hasnt ruined Coloccini. Some players have done shit under him to be fair.
  11. I'm not proposing Moyes as the best football coach available, i think he can work in a low net spend environment and we should get him before Martinez takes over from Hodgson in 2 to 3 years time. Moyes knows how to operate on low expenditure and i reckon him and Carr would be a good team from what we all read about Moyes scouting techniques.
  12. Pardew's 5th place isn't undermined as an achievement because CT is an inconsistent and contrary poster. The debate, as usual, is more about him than the actual facts. You dont fluke to 5th in the premiership, you can however get there with consistency in a season where one of two other clubs have an off season. The consistency of performance in that season was down to the manager. Thats the best argument that can be made for him, with a decent consistent starting 11, with the right firepower he has the ability to make us consistent. However, i think he has gone a bit stale in the role so we are now not even seeing that. He is at best average (which is ok for the "best league in the world") but the staleness, which are for reasons i think already set out on here, means he is below average right now so without the fire power its going to be tricky. The only sensible option i see now is to sack him and bring in Moyes. That wont happen so we live with it until we look like imploding and even then Ashley will spend his way out of trouble. Thanks Alan but now we've had enough. Moyes in.
  13. Not heard his later stuff, will have to follow that up. I really like Objekt, he brings a lot of ideas from his dubstep productions into his house style and the quality of production is exceptional. Gloomy will like this.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xozMkGpiPrM I'd really like to hear Meenzer's take it on it though.
  14. There is nothing new under the sun of course but am surprised by the Speedy J comparison. I remember Speedy J as fairly fast but bog standard and at times aggressive 4 to the floor techno.
  15. Finally shoe-horned a Eurovision track into the thread
  16. Very similar vibe to this which also coincidentally feature a relatively unknown Scandinavian female singer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS21hV5ySAc
  17. Bought this back in 96 on vinyl, was listening to it at the weekend when i had the flat to myself. Not ashamed to admit i closed the curtains and started throwing some shapes.
  18. Think i've posted this before but its worth it if you missed it. I absolutely love this sort of vibe.
  19. Not sure if i posted the Head High album in here but i've been into a few tracks on my running playlist. Ideally i'd be running on the spot, trying to chew my own ear off but sadly gone are those days.
  20. If you like that Onjekt track, its on Leisure System records. Back in 2012, one of my records of the year i posted on here was the Jets E.P that was one the early releases on the label. The Travis Stewart remix of Meu (him out of Machinedrum) is decent. The original E.P is cracking though. Just reminded of it as its the same label. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTVHSVGDQYM
