  1. The Objekt b-side does it for me like, innovative and rewarding at the same time which can be a rarity these days.
  2. In this case they've got a point though.
  3. Just got given a new iPad Air and 5S for work.
  4. He wants to just rub cocaine on the end of his knob for kicks whilst he's given up the peeve. Keep the brain out of it for a while.
  5. I used to score tack regularly from the ridges in the late 80s, come out Smith's Park metro, cross over Waterville road and there was an old radge hippy serving up out his house opposite the shops. Think those shops were burnt out in the riots. I was actually in the ridges that night too, only passing through on the night bus though on the way back to Whitley. I also used to work just off Norham road, every winter, easter and summer for a couple of years. Proper minging job cutting insulation material for offshore oil pipes. The material produced a horrible black dust when it was cut and made your snots black even with protective masks. The lads who worked there were all from Seghill and were proper radge, most of them alcoholics but if you grafted hard they were sound. The summer i finished my post grad, the owner offered me the job as factory manager, 20k a year. Turned him down and took a job in London on 18k a year. Reckon it was the right choice On that note, with a propensity to over drink and consume stupid amounts of things that arent that good for you, i reckon arguably i was 3 or 4 decisions away from being bamp plonky from Whitley. Arguably i'm now just a bamp plonky living in France.
  6. You have to admit, it's a very detailed and involved self-delusion.
  7. Had a 3 week holiday this year, spent most of it in Hossegor but we also went to St-Jean de Luz which is on the Spanish border. Saint-Emilion which is beautiful but a bit touristy, bought loads of wine there which I has to have delivered back as there was too much of it. It's a great town and surrounded by bucolic countryside and fantasy chateaux. Bordeaux for 3 days which has an exceptional amount of English pubs, not that I was in any as was with the kids but the whole place feels very welcoming to an Englishman. Possibly because the city owes its wealth and beauty to the English appetite for their wine. Worth a weekend away there if there is a direct flight. Had a mooch about Arcachon as a possible location for keeping a boat, visited the Dune de Pyla which is immense and had a day in the Medoc seeing some of the famous vineyards. Weather was shit but the wine was good. Came back by myself on weds evening due to work and then took the 7am flight to Zurich the next morning. Fucking cheers.
  8. Her. Best new film I've seen this year. Not seen many to be fair.
  9. On my holidays so watched on a stream on my iphone. The commentary I had was David Pleat. Anyone else hear him going on about how expectant our crowd are and how Rivière and Cabella would not have much time to prove themselves? He based this on Mick Harford's debut and some sort of crowd reaction (it wasn't really clear what the kerb-crawling shit-bag was on about) to Harford not chasing down a ball that he had no chance of getting. There was some reference to Harford being slow as fuck but again it wasn't clear if Pleat meant this was relevant to this particular ball. The whole tone of Pleat's argument was that this was the reason that the journeyman who played for more than 10 clubs in his career left us after a season. Harford obviously told him this story in 1984 when him and Pleat were at Luton. A story told to him by a mackem in the mid 80s about a vague incident on his debut means that Rivière and Cabella might not get much time to prove themselves. Or something. People were still standing up for Shola last season, yet Mick Harford's debut is all you need to know about Newcastle's fanbase. David Pleat is without doubt one of the biggest cunts in world football. Anyway, thought we were decent, plenty of positives and unlucky not get a point. If Dummett puts that sitter away, we would have pushed them much harder and could have won it. More than a half chance when all he has to do is hit the target. The city fans want to be making up a decent version of Abba's Fernando, he's going to be a big player for them this season.
  10. I went to Alain Ducasse at Le Meurice the other week. 3 stars there, the booze was great but the food was not all that. Funny night though, the bloke paying for dinner was an arms-trader from West Virginia who had done two tours of Vietnam, been in prison in Russia and had someone do time for him in India. He was a character like, i asked him why he went back to Vietnam after the first time, he said it was because he hated his first wife. Michelin stars are handed out in France to the right people but restaurants in places like Newcastle have to really really earn them. I bet its great there, will have to try it next time we are home, i hope he gets his star anyway as i know how much it means to chefs. Cafe 21 had one didn't it? Has it still got it?
  11. Why compare Rodwell to Colback? Rodwell should be compared to Cabella. Or De Jong. Colback is a utility player to give us a bit more solidity. If Colback proves more useful than Rodwell then the mackems will be truly fucked. I hope for their sakes (and our tbh) we are comparing the contributions of the flair attacking players we have brought in.
  12. Stevie "Me long-term memory will be fine, its me short-term memory that's going to be a problem" Alan "Aye, you've already said that mate...."
  13. Toontastic law clearly states that no reference can be made to Gabba without a shout out the Geordie Gabba Massive.
  14. Sorry for your loss? There was something about Boro too, there was a club that pre-dated Havana's called Bennett's and apparently they played early house there too. Which would have been the mid 80s! People did come from Leeds and you're right for whatever reason, Newcastle was just a bit isolated. Obviously the Rezerections brought people from all over in 91. At that time, 90/91 i used to go Rockshots on a friday night, i used to have dance-offs with older kids in front of the mirrored columns by the decks.
  15. The Sugar Shack was class, at The Empire theatre. Had some cracking nights in there. Graeme Park was playing one night, my mate had brought a camera with him which was a decent one. I decided i wanted to go to the DJ box, it was in the Royal box to the side of the stage. Took the camera out and claimed to be photo journalist from the student paper and said i wanted to interview Graeme Park. He agreed and he let us in, we stayed all night, took gear and took loads of photos of me and him and my mate. Just for the daft crack.
