Or was that Pardew putting a brave face on things?...he's not a puppet tbf, but he does have puppet-ish tendancies and will do the grown up's PR for them "gotta thank Mike and Derek blah blah blah...." Pardew goes along with what he's given. And will say he likes it.

No, but we didn't have Ryanair then either....largely agree with what you say about income, but that is the difference, not class. Or are we saying the old middle class that would run a fuckin mile from a load of folk drinking beer and singing before a football match has disappeared, and the only people who can't afford a weekend or two abroad during the year are those too lazy to get a job in the first place?...its a tricky one, but there are a range of other factors too...possibly not many who went midweek had two or three teenage kids to bring up, in saying that it certainly didn't look like it and if the kids are in a single parent family being brought up by the mother then the state is likely to be taking the strain, leaving more disposable income for the old man for a jolly up. Not many of the Provence set are on tax credits as far as I know..btw the baked cod was lovely, but the other 3 had burger and chips, and 8 euros a head would indicate it wasn't exactly "posh"

So successive waves of British football supoporters who have travelled abroad over the last 5 decades to watch their team in Europe have all been indulging in a thoroughly middle class pursuit, and no doubt look on it as much the same as their fortnight in Tuscany or Provence in the summer? And there is always the undedifying sight of course of the" ladies who lunch" having an off with the local riot police

Agreed, lots of knee jerking going on. If we could get a better manager though I wouldn't be completly against it.....would a Benitez with a point to prove be an upgrade?...would Ashley pay the wages of a manager who has managed at a much higher level than Pardew?.... -

A mate said at half time last night that he thought things went tits up in the first half around the time Perch got booked....just saying..... Lots of disenchantment with Pardew post game, ....lots suggesting Rafa Benitez for next season...any takers?...would he work for Ashley?....what he could do to legislate for Santon being an abysmal defender I don't know like.... -
Proof if required that all surveys are shit I remember Frank Skinner saying in his book that his parents decided that if they were going to be working class all their lives then they'd make damned sure that theyd be fuckin champions league working class...that's us I reckon Regardless of occupation or income, there wasn't a lot of middle classness on display in Lisbon this week....had some baked salted cod on Wednesday night mind, but they don't do proper fish n chips there...honest....

Looking forward to the REAL Stadio de Luz -
Didn't know that and its a very fair point. Not many Jewish folk in this country without the horrors of WW2 very close to them.

He's an ambitious politician,so he's by nature a "hey! look at me!" person. If he had SAFC's best interests at heart then he would've just walked off quietly. But he had his own career to thnk of. So fuck the club who have paid him well for doing what precisely?....am not sure what his role was, but there was a very good drink in it for him. So much for gratitude. He's not alone in that attitude, but he put himself first rather than anyone else, a former New Labour cabinet minister doing that, who'd have thought?...
-
Agreed. But seemingly not bad enough for Sunderland to take them into consideration. Like Woodgate and Bowyer when Newcastle signed them. Signed by a man reveared for his good nature to all.
-
Holding these opinions isn't against the law in this country, and stating them in public wasn't when Di Canio said it. It is against employment law though. And that was down to Swindon Town to sort out. Milliband could've walked away without fingering Di Canio, he could've waited to the end of the season and said he was leaving as it would be difficult to help the football club from New York.
-
If there was a case to answer it would be the same wherever he worked though. There may have been, but without all the facts I'm as clueless about what went on as anyone else. His former chairman spoke glowingly of him the other day, is Nigel Wray a fascist sympathiser too?...
-
If Milliband hadn't taken that job in New York than I doubt we'd still be talking about this. He's fucked Sunderland over good and proper iyam. Is County Durham more deserving of racial harmony than Wiltshire? Who knew Di Canio was accused of racism at Swindon on here?.....not that many I'd wager, and even fewer commented at the time. A nice round figure am guessing, but feel free to correct me. He seems to be a very distasteful person, and not too bright after living in the multi racial UK for most of the last two decades. If he's abused a lad at Swindon then that's against employment law and he should've been disciplined by that club. He wasn't, I don't know why, perhaps they brushed it under the carpet and waited for the (seemingly very local) storm to calm down. I'm not defending what he may or may not have done in any way, but this wouldn't have been much of a story without Millibands urge to cut all ties with the UK for a sharp exit. I do sympathise with the families of those who died fighting fascism in the 20th century but this is one man with seemingly some very foolish and warped opinions, not a dictator murdering millions.Tthe Durham miners make a very valid point, but I think theyre a bit caught in the middle, victims of history if anything, not of anything SAFC may now stand for with this appointment. Sunderland are no doubt "taking as they find" and seeing as he's never been disciplined in any way for racially abusing anyone then they probably feel that they have no need to justify their appointment. Would Sunderland get away with appointing Nick Griffin or the leader of the EDL?..no, they've both got convictions. Di Canio hasn't, and the accusations are just that, accusations which it looks like he's not had to answer fully. If he abuses anyone at Sunderland then they'll have to deal with it then.

1988 Luton Town (h) 4-0 (2-0) Division One O'Neill 3, Goddard 20,565 "Kenny, Kenny sit on the ball" sang the fans, and our diminutive midfielder battler Wharton did just that, much to the annoyance of the Hatters, particularly headband-wearing Steve Foster who chased Kenny into the portakabins.... 25 years ago today....

This would appear to be the most coverage they've had since 1973 Dont think they got the same attantion post cup final 92 or even after getting beat of Charlton in the play off final....

Is this Facism?.... Fascism (pron.: /ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism[1][2] that came to prominence in mid-20th century Europe. Fascists seek to unify their nation through a totalitarian state that seeks the mass mobilization of the national community,[3][4] relying on a vanguard party to initiate a revolution to organize the nation on fascist principles.[5] Hostile to liberal democracy, socialism, and communism, fascist movements share certain common features, including the veneration of the state, a devotion to a strong leader, and an emphasis on ultranationalism, ethnocentrism, and militarism. Fascism views political violence, war, and imperialism as a means to achieve national rejuvenation[3][6][7][8] and asserts that "superior" nations and races should attain living space by displacing weak and inferior ones.[9] Fascist ideology consistently invoked the primacy of the state. Strong and charismatic leaders such as Benito Mussolini in Italy and Adolf Hitler in Germany embodied the state and claimed indisputable power. Fascism borrowed theories and terminology from socialism but applied them to what it saw as the more significant conflict between nations and races rather than to class conflict, and focused on ending the divisions between classes within the nation.[10] It advocates a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky to secure national self-sufficiency and independence through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.[11] Fascism opposed socialist and communist ideology but was also critical of some aspects of capitalism, arguing for what is sometimes called a Third Position between capitalism and Marxist socialism.[12] Fascist movements emphasized a belligerent, virulent form of nationalism (chauvinism) and a fear of foreign people (xenophobia), which they frequently linked to an exaggerated ethnocentrism. The typical fascist state also embraced militarism, a belief in the rigors and virtues of military life as an individual and national ideal, meaning much of public life is organized along military lines and an emphasis is put on uniforms, parades, and monumental architecture.

No doubt Swindon put that one down to "cultural differences".....as I say, whatever the truth is about his opinions and attitudes then it will come out. Not looking good for him or SAFC.
