So did Watchmen get a worldwide release last Friday
soccermom replied to Cid_MCDP's topic in General Chat
I've never read the book and understood it, didn't even know there was one. good guys/bad guys with superpowers and human personality flaws made into super flaws (like their powers) meaning thier flaws have a bigger impact on peoples lives. with the overall message that often you have to sacrifice a little to gain alot. not really a new message just a new way of getting it over to the public - americans will love its underlying tones. oh and love conquers all - be it love for your parents or the fella you're shagging in his space ship. blah blah blah - shoulda had some car chases if you ask me -

Your not the only person who's said that I'm certainly not having a go, but I really can't understand what's so difficult to understand. Former superhero is murdered, former colleagues investigate against a backdrop of the world on the verge on nuclear war (I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I won't say any more). Actually it puts me sort of in mind of LA Confidential for some reason. I don't think it's that complicated. No No, don't get me wrong, I understand the film, but it has so many levels I just don't think I could explain it properly or do it justice if someone said to me so whats it like should I go and see it? It's just one of those kind of films that you do have to actually watch to understand fully. -

Saw it tonight. I enjoyed it, it was weird and quirky, with likeable yet hateable characters and me and wor fella both agree that if someone asked us what it was about we couldn't really explain it properly. a rating out of 10 i'd give it a 6.5, worth a watch but wouldn't chose to see it again if something else was on offer over on ITV. saw the trailers for star trek, lesbian vampires and xmen origin lesbian vampires - James Corden - looks funny as fk,and wouldn't mind seeing that trek one with simon thingy in as scotty - looks good. Xmen - not a big fan of prequels. -

Do any of you have any great meal ideas or recipies that don't contain potatoes, pasta, rice or bread. Not on the aitkins or anything daft like that but I've been found to have a gluten/wheat allergy that makes me swell like a balloon, so I'd like to avoid these things if I can. I know you can get gluten free stuff but it'll taste like shit and that'll upset me cos I like all of the above very much. I can make a mean stirfry, but after that I'm struggling cos i'm not keen on most cooked veg, cabbage, turnip, carrots etc (unless in soup) - was put off by soggy veggies on school meals!! Cheers chucks.

I can sense your frustration, give in and roll with it, you're gagging. We can do this by PM if it makes you feel better. Stalker!
-
Has it helped you any hon?
-
Ha Ha, Not half as much as you want me to. I couldn't possibly, no other woman would ever measure up after i'd deflowered you. You'd become obsessed with me and I just couldn't cope with a stalker at the moment. No means NO!
-
You still upset cos I won't suck your chupa chup? No, I'm upset because you won't suck my chopper. Maybe one day when you're all growed up.

What's the upper reaches of the safe dose of ibruprofen? A friend of mine (who was a vet) used to reckon it was ok to pop three 400mg tablets at once from time to time if the situation demanded it. Was he using it on a horse? Anything above 800mg three times a day would probably be off the product license and increase the risk of GI ulceration. Incidentally I don't agree with soccermom's advice on diclofenac, I reckon you're better off sticking to ibuprofen. Both drugs are NSAIDs with a very similar spectrum of activity and adverse effects (if you use ibuprofen at higher doses), I don't really see any advantage in diclofenac for a short-term acutely painful condition. The government have made drugs like diclofenac and chloramphenicol available over the counter in a bid to reduce GP's workloads. Which is fine usually but like you suggest there will be a small proportion of people who have a sinister cause for their symptoms who will get a delayed diagnosis. You can even get low-dose simvastatin OTC in the UK which is frankly ridiculous. Totally agree about simv, thats stupidity. But I'm one of those people who has no reaction to ibuprofen and find diclofenac very helpful, somepeople just do not absorb the power of ibuprofen well, (I have checked this with a palliative consultant friend of mine who specifically deals with pain - for all you non medics out there) and a 50mg dose of diclofenac if not asthmatic would be recommended for this type of pain, not all NSAID are the same or act in exactly the same way as I am very sure you know, and I'm quite sure you know peoples tolerances and reactions to different drugs can also be widely varied. Chloramphenicol, I don't see the problem if it's just to provide some relief whilst waiting for a doctors appointment, if a reaction occurs discontinue use and seek medical advice, if it soothes then all well and good til you get an appointment, but I'm not saying just self medicate and don't seek advice. ibuprofen 6-8hrly 400mg tops - didn't read that bit earlier - should someone go round and check he hasn't done himself in with all these pills, I heard mention of Diaz before! he he. Just wanted to help the guy out while he's waiting to be seen.

poor you, whilst you're buying the voltarol and anbesol, sounds like you may need to invest in some chloramphenicol eye drops too, that should sort you out. Not having a good time of it are you honey
-
Thats an antibiotic - its doesn't work on pain it works on infection, unless you mean clear the infection get rid of the pain, but that'd require dental intervention not just oral antibiotics. The pain killers along with the anaesthetic will at least give enough relief until your dentist/dental hospital can sort it out properly. Oh and stop taking 1.5g of para - thats very naughty, it only takes a small amount to overdose and you should never underestimate the power of paracetamol or the effect it has on your body - it's prescription only in most countries for a reason, lol. 1g ONLY every 4-6 hours no more than 8 in any 24 hour period. Consider yourself severely reprimanded mister! he he. but honest hon, I'd definately give those a try til you can get it sorted by the chiefs. It really does help. x
-
go to the pharmacy and replace the ibuprofen with Voltarol (diclofenac) 50mg can be bought over the counter now - as long as you are not asthmatic as it can exacerbate your condition and induce asthma attacks. If you have asthma try swapping it for aspirin, obviously again, as long as you don't have any blood/bleeding/disorders. Some people just tolerate ibuprofen too well and it doesn't have the desired effect, codiene as you are using is a opiate based analgesic and works very well in combination with this and the paracetamol, it may also be worth you buying some oral anaesthetic such as liquid anbesol to put on the gum, it will last long enough to help you eat and get off to sleep, you can just apply this via a clean finger or a cotton bud/pipet as you need it. The voltarol is the most important medication wise though though as this is a strong anti-inflammatory drug which will be best for your type of pain. Hope this helps.

Give it up mate - they'll honestly never get it. What i don't get is all them that say they ain't bothered about her, don't care, don't give a fk - say we're the bleedin' hearts, but they've never shut up about her and are doing their best to villify. If i were dying and someone offered me £750,000 to take pics of my wedding i'd rip their arms off to be able to leave it to my kids. If you don't care then don't actually care enough to argue. imo
