I find the idea that this would be the case for anyone extremely strange. Unless people socialised with their lecturers (which I certainly didn't) I would imagine they wouldn't know what their political views were (certainly not in any great detail). Expressing views on that sort of thing would be pretty much against the policy of universities I would imagine. I knew of one university lecturer of mine who was a Tory party activist, but that was as much as I knew.
