  1. Risk? hah I laugh at your attempts at risky.... Stockport and Cheltenham.
  2. I honestly don't think Carroll or Ranger will go. Boyd could replace Harewood as we have Ameobi and Carroll to play the big man role. I would say that the only thing stopping Carroll going is whether anyone is stupid enough to come in and pay money for him. That could be the one saving grace, no club with any sense is going to purchase a player who could be unavailable for six months while residing at one of her Majestys finest establishments.
  3. Simple as what Peasepud? What's been seen of Kadar hasn't been all bad and perhaps him and Taylor could form a steady partnership if given a chance. Thing is, Colo could just as well get injured and I'd hate to think we'd be screwed in either case. 4 first team appearances doest make him a world beater, yes Colo was one of those responsible for our demise last season but so were Shola, Nolan, Jonas, Smith, Enrique and Taylor. All of which Id be pissed off to see leave as it would be a knock to an already flimsy squad which so far has managed to avoid the injury jinx that normally hits us. Trouble is, damage is done, all of the above players have done enough to get themselves firmly rooted in the shop window and instead of dropping the shutters and telling anyone who wanders by that we're closed, our current owners will be firmly plastering the Sale signs on the window and setting up the till by the door ready for action come Friday.
  4. We'd be screwed if Colo left, simple as.
  5. 1867 - has your Trust not looked into the possibility of purchasing the club? I met a couple of your lads at the Supporters Direct AGM last year and they were committed to the cause and from what I saw you had quite a thriving Supporters Trust but if things are as bad as you're saying what with the continual attempts to sell etc then I would have thought you'd have attempted a boyout yourselves by now?

  7. Seasons Greetings to you all!
  8. Smart money is on...... Been a busy couple of weeks then, naked headbutting of Beattie one week, naked head with a Beau..thai the next.
  9. A lot of people would have to eat a lot of words for Given to come back like.... If he leaves there, he'll go to one of the top 4 IMO - possibly Man Utd who are pretty desperate for a keeper but to tell the truth Almunia & Cech are looking less than safe at their respective clubs. Given is far and away the best in the league at the moment. I bet they dont flog him on for 5.8m over 3 years either
  10. It would be so funny if it was Bruce. Id not be disappointed at a Phil Brown either though.
  11. Obviously never been to Hull then, prostitution is probably their only thriving business.
  12. I think its safe to say we've all been frustrated by what appears to be a lack of actual progress (none more so than me). Numerous times I've made promises on here, N-O and a dozen other message boards stating that further info would be out soon. Trouble is, its fairly easy to come up with these plans but when the actual in-depth work starts then you start getting into the territory of solicitors, financial rules and such like. This has turned out to be an eye opener for us, being told you cant "release this info" or cant "do anything with that until object A of document X has been agreed" has gone against the ethos of the whole campaign and the Trust itself. That has been hard for us to work with but its what you would call a necessary evil, these are the people with the important experience and knowledge in these areas and what they say goes. If only we'd known all this at the start then we would have been able to play out the six weeks differently and would have given everyone that view from the start. It is important though that everything is done properly, we will only get one chance at this, do it right and everything will come together, get it wrong and its all over, we cant ever attempt a fans buyout again because people will quite rightly look back at this one and say "it failed last time so its not worth trying". So from me personally, thats an apology however it goes with what we were doing, we've not asked anyone to actually hand over any money yet, simply register to say you'd be interested to know more. This is what is used by the big backers and financial industries to decide how popular this is going to be and its chances of working. Already we have what we believe to be a high enough level of support but its important that we get as high a number as possible. As soon as the full info is out (which will be in the next couple of weeks...honest ) then I will get it out on here.

    Maggiespaws!

Birthday greetings you nerd geek bastard!
  14. A good point well made. Better to have a striker who looks lazy, but has the energy to score a goal when required that one who expends loads of energy chasing down impossible balls, and heading on to noone ( ) who is then buggered when they get the ball in a good scoring position. People will scoff, but if we go up and someone could convince Mark Viduka to sign on a pay as you play style arrangement he'd be a good aquisition. He knows the area and the team, plus in terms of ability on the ball he's a class above anyone we've got or could realistically hope to get. Obviously in some kind of mid-retirement limbo at the moment, but I'd dare say he could be convinced to play some sort of bit part. /pipedreams Just how far have we dropped when the extent of our pipedreams is to tempt a fat bloke away from retirement and the pie shop? As for Harewood, hes far too soft, too easily beaten to a ball and even if he gets there first hes knocked off it with a subbutteo flick. At the same time, we cant afford to be too choosy, in the next day or so Carroll is in court and could be the next jailbird on our books. Shola looks like hes down and out everytime he goes to tie his laces and personally, Im yet to be convinced by Ranger, he runs a lot but not shown anything of real substance during his first team stints.
  15. The up side being a shortage of Marmite :getin:
  16. RIP A truly great scout responsible for the legend that is Big Al.
  17. There is one plus point to going for it, somewhere down the line, be it next round or the Final. We'll meet up with proper opposition and be given a lesson in football. Maybe, just maybe that will bring some people down to earth.
  18. Jesus cunting wept indeed, what makes grown men want to become Admins on a x-factor winners forum?
  19. The voices in his head. There has been no noises to say anything of the sort. Lets see what happens next month, a few sales to struggling Premiership clubs who "turn the heads of players" and we'll be totally different. As for Ranger proving he can do a job at this level, when did he do that?
  20. Im still trying to come to terms with just how shite this league is, it beggars belief, we've just played a team which at the start of the season were predicted to finish higher than us. We pissed over them while still managing to show sustained periods of total shitness. Boro? Should have stuck with Southgate, they were dismal, insignificant is too meaningful a word for just how little they and their toss fans interest me.
  21. Oh thats ok then we've got lady luck on our side. Drop out now and concentrate on this pissing of the league, something which now looks increasingly likely, I cant quite get over just how shit this league is.
  22. Seriously? who the fuck authorised sending out that kind of shit to everyone? luckily I didnt get it like.
  23. It started with a bang with 40,000 e-mails sent to toon fans letting them know about how the campaign would work towards bringing interested parties in a fans led consortium to buy the club. 6 weeks of hard campaigning with 18 roadshows attracting over 1000 people, regular e-mail newsletters, stories about ‘local achievers’, 30,000 postcards distributed in pubs and clubs across the city and numerous meetings between the Trust and interested parties. The 1st phase ended with the huge 60ft by 20ft Alan Shearer shirt which last made an outing draped over the Angel of the North being unfurled over the Castle Keep in Newcastle. Yes We Can has also launched a number of collaborative events with charities including a single by the Steady Boys available on download by itunes and in the shops in over Christmas. Its called Yes We Can – the terrace song and half the proceeds of the song go to the Royal British Legion. Mark Jensen, Spokesperson and link with exetrnal partners for the Trust said ‘Its been a hard but rewarding 6 week campaign and we’ve made a fantastic start to what could be a real fans led buy out of the club. We now have in place all of our commercial partners and are already planning phase 2 of the campaign commencing 6 Jan 2010. Fans have been frustrated by the lack of visible progress but a lot has happened, relationships have been cemented and there is real and tangible interest from the city in what we’re doing. We’ll get one chance at doing this and we’ve a duty to make sure its correct and remember it took the Magpie group over 2 years to acquire control of the club. I can make this promise, the proposal we’re now working on with partners won’t take that long’.
