Tuesday's 5pm deadline means nowt as...................
peasepud replied to accadacca's topic in Newcastle Forum
Actually that's not the case. We can only sign out of contract players after the deadline closes. FACT! Edit: Except in cases deemed an emergency by the league. Whatever that means. Isnt it only for cases such as when all your keepers are in a car crash together or some such other highly unlikely scenario. It sure as hell doesnt count for "emmm I accidentally sold our last defender, what a clot I am. Can I borrow a couple off Chelsea?" -

If like me you enjoy a flutter, what price we lift the World Cup? -

that's the thing, anyone can see a basic story and then embellish it further, give themselves a job somewhere or say they have a mate who works at the club. Make a guess on what happens next and post that as ITK, should it come off then they're set. If it doesn't then a quick post intimating some secretive reason why not and the kids are creaming themselves for days thinking they're ITK -

Taking a club off the market means fuck all though. If someone comes along and offers him what he wants then he'll snap their hands off regardless of it being on or off the market. -
Its going to be interesting to see our lineup tonight. A number of players "rested"?

Well I went, I ate and I felt ill

Not this Graham Roberts consortium crap again
peasepud replied to kingshearer's topic in Newcastle Forum
First I knew about it Bollocks. He doesnt speak for the Trust, yes on paper we see it as a canny idea and are making enquiries as to the members views on it but thats it, he doesnt speak for the trust, he sure as fuck doesnt speak for me and theres no way on this earth he speaks for our members. -

Not really, just the stuff through the NUSC, from the dealings we've had with certain prospective purchasers I know that they're not just in it for publicity. For all the shite that surrounds Roberts and the Fans410 bid there is a robust sound plan for purchase, running and squad improvement. Its just a shame that they've stuck GR out there to front it. Its like putting Stevie out as the PR man for a Villa bid. -
And do you think his strategy will be any different in the Championship? We will make a profit in every transfer window coming under Ashley until theres nobody left to sell for anything in the way of proper money. NO big players, no big wages no massive contracts. Then we'll be put into administration, with little football debts to pay off it will all come back to fat lad. But thats a different argument altogether. You still havent answered my question earlier CT, by saying you'd rather win a cup than promotion are you saying you would have rather done that in 92/93?
-
Every so often he gets linked with a move back to Spain, i think Atletico Madrid were mentioned most recently. But suprisingly none of their clubs seem to have put a serious bid in. Or worryingly, we could be sitting in a Given type scenario where 3 or 4 players know they're going its just being left to the last minute to move them.
-
No brainer, we dont stand a chance of a cup until we've been promoted and can restrengthen the squad.
-
Promotion gives us a far bigger scope for cup runs, winning the Carling gets you a trip to Wembley and thats it. Promotion gets you up there, do well in future seasons and we may just scrape a UEFA place, a good run in Carling is fuck all when compared to a run in Europe. I want Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal with the odd trip to France, Spain and Italy. Not Scunthorpe, Blackpool and Leicester with a trip to Peterborough or Stevenage as a bonus.
-
To put it into perspective though, you're saying you would have preferred to win the Milk Cup, Littlewoods cup or whatever the hell the thing was called back in 92/93 than get promoted?
-
Oh I'm not a fish wimp and would never consider visting a fish rstaurant to then order steak. Im happy to try something new, I love salmon so that would be the boring choice for me but I dont believe I like smoked fish so thats dropping the options down a bit, could be tempted by Lemon Sole maybe. And yeah, got the voucher although their £12 two course set menu seems good value too. two courses and a glass of wine for 12 sheets.
-
Totally agree mate. A cup is tradition and all that, a trip to wembley, splodging in the fountains. Promotion is frying pan to fryer territory at the minute. Would ideally like both, but given the choice a cup every time. Think most wiser / older fans would agree with you. The football manager generation, thats a different kettle of fish all together. Im sorry like and with the greatest of respect but you're mental.

Anyone been? Im heading to the one at Gosforth tonight and not being a huge fan of Fish (both the food and poster ) I've got a limited knowledge of what to order (other than never to go near Lobster again ). Any recommendations?

I know where you're coming from, I honestly believe that most fans now see these stories and think "aye reet, another load of shite", well most, apart from CT who thinks "wooohooo, it'll be sorted by the end of the week!" . I know for definite that at least two of the bids are not fabrications of the fat lads but would put plenty money on the fact that most, if not all of the rest are either publicity seekers or out and out bullshit put up by Ashley. -
pah, walked out three times, did nothing for us, all his fault, should have stayed etc etc etc

Strangely I've noticed the best time to actually think calmly is the first half hour after waking. You're right, and the worst times are before tea/after work, and late at night. Aye I took a step back, I feel fine now, the owner of the company who in effect is everybody's boss gave me the bollocking, normally he would've given it to my divisional manager, but he's on holiday right now and I'm next in the firing line after him. I made a big error which on Wednesday looked like it had cost the company £12,000, but we've managed to turn it round, and only ended up costing £700. Wednesday was a bad day though, I was contemplating buying a kalashnikov and everything hehe nah. To be fair to him he actually spoke to me that night, and apologised for dealing with me harshly and said I was a big asset to the company as I had a lovely way of dealing with clients and had a nice personality, news to me like but it lifted me spirits. Am still keeping me options open though, maybe this week was what I needed to make me realise I need to avoid stagnating. There's a few of you on the dole at the minute, good luck to you, but remember the recession won't last forever and there'll be a huge boom the next time it comes up, but my uneducated guess is we're at least 12 months away from that point. I take it hes never read your posts then

Photoshop pisses on Gimp tbh however I ...I mean I have a friend who was running a cracked CS4 but then had to change their motherboard which totally screwed CS4 making it ask for validation and meant it couldnt even be reinstalled. Of course, should someone know how to get round that then I'll tell my mate and give them a stern lecture on software piracy.

Nah, our defence seems ok at the minute, they'll never stick 7 in.
-
But for me its a sense of guarding what we can and not causing ourselves any further complications.
-
Its nothing to do with politics, its keeping your arse safe for the more important things such as staving off another relegation or (hopes) pushing for promotion, things such as this for little clubs such as ourselves are a distraction that we cant afford. Its time people got into the real world and realised we are no longer competition, we didnt win this competition when we were a force to be reckoned with, now we're just some other championship club then we're there for the arse raping once we get one of the bigger boys in the shower that is the Carling Cup. I for one, dont want us to miraculously get as far as the quarters with lucky draws only to find we lose three of four of our players due to injury and the additional games to then draw Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or Man U and be given a lesson in just how far we have dropped.
