  1. I must admit I find all the talk about Beckham in the media irratating, he was always a good player but never anywhere near a great one. And I couldn't give a flying fuck about England anymore.
  2. Correct me if I am wrong but the way I read your link is that you have to already be a subscriber to Topup TV at £9.99 per month BEFORE then paying Setanta. You can get Setanta seperately from Top up TV. You need a freeview box with space for a card to receive it, you can phone them up & they send the card to you.
  3. Being in the top 20 with West Ham and Man City puts things in perspective. If they had a league for clubs in debt I wonder where we would be then. By the way they reckon next season the top 5 will be English teams because of the new TV deal, might be connected to the sudden love of the game in this country from foreign investors.
  4. From next season Setanta sports will have rights to some premiership football and are launching a new channel which doesn't need a satelite dish but which can be recieved through a TV ariel like Freeview & which starts on march the 1st at £10.99 a month. I think what sky & Murdoch are doing is what they always do, try and crush any opposition, the twats. Setanta http://www.topup.tv/setantasports.html
  5. But didn't that "poor Celtic team" beat two teams from the premiership on the way to the final as well.
  6. I agree with that the poor old sod should be put out to grass (as much as a I loved the man). BTW waht does a "director of football" do ?
  7. Aye. Is invicta taking the piss btw? I can never tell for sure. Yesterday's match was basically an abortion, painful to sit through, especially the second half. Of the two sides, Villa impressed more tbh and probably deserved at least a draw. We've had some flukey results recently when you consider our performances (this one and Spurs spring to mind), which is nice, but it can't last. We could have lost the last three league games no bother, but the decisions and luck went in our favour- not that I'm complaining about that. Judge O'Neill next season. At least he hasn't got 3 relegations on his CV.
  8. They say he's physically strong - but so is Bramble. Still I wish thelad well.
  9. West ham could regret letting him go . he was never given a chance there.
  10. I wouldn't mind what Roeder came out with - lets face it most managers talk shite - if I thought he was a good manager , but he isn't.
  11. The problem with comments from anyone connected with Manure is that they sound arrogant because Manure have built such an obnoxious reputation for themselves.
  12. Who ever's spying on them its not doing much good they're still top of the fucking league.
  13. "Oguchi Onyewu is remembered for losing his marker and allowing a goal to Jared Borgetti of Mexico in Azteca Stadium on March 27, 2005" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oguchi_Onyewu
  14. Beckham- one paced, one footed, can't head the ball, can't tackle, can't beat a man. Good passer, decent free kick taker - probably the most over rated footballer ever.
  15. Beckham is I think. Didn't know Owen ever was. And can I be the first to say: Posh wouldn't be seen dead in the Metro Centre Beckham won't come to the toon in a million years, can you imagine Posh and Becks on the lash doon the Bigg market on a satda neet.
  16. Dignity ? The Queen is supposed to have dignity but I wouldn't want her as our manager either. I think that these days managers have to have a strong personality to deal with the millionaire spoilt brat footballers they have to deal with. I can see how Mourinho, Ferguson or Wenger would create respect or even a bit of fear among their players but not Roeder.
  17. The poodle factor ... From an American government official. "The poodle factor did not begin with Tony Blair, it began, yes, with Winston Churchill." Shows quite a healthy contempt from Americans for us Brits. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2478592,00.html
  18. Lets hope he does for them what he's done for us - fuck all.
  19. I was interested to hear that from today (29/12/2006) the 2nd world war debt which was incurred by Britain as a result of the loans this country took out from America has now been paid off. My first reaction was to think that why did the defeated countries such as Germany and Japan recieve massive aid from the US while we had to take out loans at massive interest rates ? It was almost Britain was punished for being an ally of the US. And the so-called special-relationship between Britain and America seems to overwhemingly favour the US. Tony Blair has been criticised for being too close to Arican foreign policy but he is no different to British prime ministers before him. I remember when Thatcher allowed US planes to bomb Libya flying from UK bases when she was in power when no other country would. Perhaps we in Britain should realise that we are no more and no less than a medium sized European country and behave accordingly. Is it time to consign the one-sided "special-relationship" to history and realise America will always do what they think is best for their own country and start to do the same for ours.
  20. No it would be a pointless, gimmick signing (and we've had enough of them) The bloke was never as good as some people made out and now he's on the way down. Lets try and build a team for a change.
  21. I have hunted around t'internet and can't find it anywhwere so this was a bit of a long shot but at least some of the words have been remembered Thanks lads (Bring the Lindisfarne Gospels home )
  22. Can anyone tell me the me words to the Newcastle song which was sung to the old tune "the 12 days of Christmas" It was brilliant and I think it was about the old fairs cup winning team. A long shot but I hope someone can remember it (or even have a clue about what I am going on about).
  23. I listened to an interview Owen on Radio 5 live. And he managed to avoid mentioning Newcastle at all. He talked about how England were doing under Mclaren , the fact that calamity James is a good artist (apparently) and how he hopes to have a great career with england and how he hopes to win a few more trophies at club level , without using the word Newcastle. I have a feeling we are way down on Owens list of priorities apart from when he picks up his wages.
