1. Disappointing. If there is a lack of suitable candidates, it's because Shepherd is so incompetent that he refuses to look past the usual gang of mediocre British managers (Allardyce excluded).
2. Souness critics must east humble pie Has anyone got Hansen's e-mail address? I hope he enjoys his pie.
3. That gasuso over on Newcastle-Online is hilarious. I had a look at the Hitzfeld thread and the stuff he comes out with is amazing.
4. Going by that reckoning Ferguson would have been sacked by Man Utd early in his career, Morinho just likes to heap pressure on his rivals in my opinion. If he doesn't win the Champions League with Chelsea this season or next (which I'm sure is what Abramovich wants) then no doubt he'll be saying he wants time. Regarding Souness, I'm not saying give him more time as he was never the right man for the job, rather that he hasn't had time in my view. 73791 the best 2 managers at Newcastle in recent times, Keegan and Robson. From the start, they brought an obvious improvement and came across as knowing what they were doing 73808 So I imagined 18 months of utter shite (disguised by a cup run) under Bobby? There was no further sign of any improvement until Bellamy/Robert signed (see I can give praise to those two when rightful) 73822 Quite correct tbh. 73827 I'd say it's completely incorrect, that was a totally different situation. Firstly, the general consensus was that Gullit (and Dalglish before him) had destroyed Keegan's team, filled it with dross like Hamilton, Marcelino, Maric etc. and that the club was headed for relegation. Some of our best players were about to jump ship, there was a lot of unrest and everyone knew we were going nowhere. In came Robson, and even though the first 18 months weren't great, most people seemed to be of the opinion that we had a good manager who would eventually turn the ship around. Contrast this with Souness, who took over a team that was arguably in decline, but still Top 5 material - it was way better than the one left by Gullit and Souness said so himself. Secondly, Robson had virtually no money at all when he first came to the club. His first signing was Gallacher for £500k and it remained his only signing until the end of his first season (correct me if I'm wrong here). When he did get money, it was to buy players in an inflated market - not even Robert's fans (and I was one) thought he was worth £9.5m. Contrast this with Souness, who was given an outrageous amount of money virtually immediately after he was appointed. They are two completely different situations - with Robson, people were at least optimistic about our future with him in charge. With Souness, even the most deluded fool can see that we're going backwards fast.
5. Good news even if it's the Sun - it may the start of something. I honestly think Fat Fred is narrow-minded and stupid enough to only look at British managers again, which is a shame and shows him up for what he is - utterly incompetent. Having said that, I'd take Big Sam - he's obviously a massive improvement on Souness and he seems to be a forward-thinking type of manager. I'd be happy if we got him - we can't be sure he'd want to come, but given his comments earlier in the season where he said that he'd taken Bolton as far as he could (or something along those lines), we can be optimistic.
6. You're right about Papa L, I miss him. He's a good poster. 73601 I saw him in town yesterday. Just so yous know he's still alive, like. 73603 Tell him that there are a few people on here who believe that 3-5-2 is the way to go - that should get him posting again.

8. Unfortunately I think Shearer will definitely be the next manager. It would make sense from Fat Fred's incompetent and deluded point of view - the fans seem to be quite divided at the moment, with a lot of people blaming the board for the situation we're finding ourselves in. What's better than a Geordie legend becoming manager to get the fans fully behind the club again?
9. Aye, that got on my tits as well. The World Cup appears to be his one and only concern. 73296 Two things have pissed me off lately, firstly the Owen / World Cup thing, secondly the 'When will Shearer break the record?' thing. After the Spurs debacle Mick Lowes/John Anderson were going on about how one of the positives was that Shearer would get the chance to break the record at home in the Tyne-Tees Derby. Jesus Wept! 73306 Agree with both posts. The World Cup thing is extremely annoying and as for Lowes and Anderson, I honestly don't know why people say they are better than the (admittedly bad) Lockwood and Miserable Mick Martin. For a match commentator, Lowes is so far up Souness' arse it's unbelievable.
10. If Keegan was tactically inept, what does that make Souness?
11. Where's Gemmill by the way?
12. Think yourself lucky, I'm listening to Century - Bernie Slaven is on and the bias is, as ever, ridiculous.... I really think for games like this, they should have impartial summurisers... 72920 Lowes has just suggested that a draw would be a decent result though! Lowes to do Souness' post-match interviews from now on?
13. Is it on German TV somewhere? 72890 It's on the Premiere Konferenz, where they are flicking through the matches (which is an absolutely crap idea btw). So you don't really see the match just the important scenes. From what I saw and heard on the radio Solano is brilliant and Newcastle are having more of the ball but creating fewer chances than Boro who were unlucky and only went behind thanks to a brilliant set piece. 72893 Is it worth getting Premiere? 72895 Not when you have a decent pub close to you. They are showing only few non-Sky games and they are always ManUre, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal. And with the change in Jorman football TV rights the future (and prices) at Premiere is a bit unclear. 72901 Cheers, the pub will have to do for now then
14. N'Zogbia and Babayaro on for Ameobi and Elliott.

16. I have to agree, it's a a good read and every single point made in that article is true. Absolutely spot on.
