1. It's the same with all of our players though, isn't it? Whenever an important team member gets injured, we're told that he "has a chance" and will be "back at the weekend" - and it never happens. It was like that with Owen's injuries and with Carr, Dyer and when Emre first did his hamstring. Complete joke.
2. You bastards, I think I've ruined my keyboard a hundred times now. Legend of a thread.
3. Who's to say the question he (or more likely, someone else!) put to Given wasn't: "If you were ever to leave Newcastle, where would you like to go?" 77077 True, it's a typical S*n article. Given did complain about not being offered a new contract a couple of months ago though and it doesn't look as though much has happened since...

Given

Given Spain driven (The S*n) What the fuck is Fat Fred doing not offering him a new contract? It will cost a lot more to replace him - give him a new contract now as long as he's still willing to sign one...
5. If we can't get Allardyce now, Souness will stay until the end of the season IMO. And Phil Gartside's comments the other day weren't exactly a cause for optimism...
6. You have to laugh at Oliver though - if it had been Geordie boy Clark ringing Fat Fred, Oliver would call him 'honest' and 'decent'. But because it's Robert, it's eccentric...
7. What a load of patronising crap. What that article says is that even though Souness is actually too good for us, we should stick with him because he was a great player and because he's a proper football man. The Guardian seem to be quite sure that we're getting Allardyce in. Hopefully they're right.
8. I got the same impression. He's probably fooled the Fat Cunt as well.
9. The following lines about Shearer sum him up perfectly. Souness doesn't have a clue what football is about. He still lives in the 70s and thinks it's all about fighting, going to war, and kicking the shite out of your opponents. That's why he's a rotten manager and that's why we will never play good football as long as he's in charge. The game just doesn't work like that anymore. Is he a proper warrior then, Graeme?
10. Reading that interview makes me feel sorry for him. He's clearly lost it and he feels sorry for himself. I don't think I dislike him as a person - it's just that he has to be one of the worst managers around. He's utterly incompetent and he can't see that it's not just about the injuries we have. It's time for the Fat One to put him out of his misery. I hope he gets the sack on Saturday.
11. I think Stuart Pearce could. But I don't think we've got a snowball's chance in hell of getting him here... 74655 He wouldn't be my first choice (no British manager would be), but I could live with Allardyce. Now Bolton play dreadful football, but he seems to be a manager who would change his tactics and game-plans if he had better players at his disposal. I would still prefer someone like Hiddink or Le Guen though. We could always go for the bloke in my avatar... 74667 Heidi's Grandfather? 74669

13. The worst thing about Oliver though, is that if Souness WAS still talking to him, he'd still be licking the bloke's arse. I've got no time for the bloke because the only reason he's going on like he is is because Souness wants nowt to do with him. If the results were the same and Souness was still giving him his "exclusives", all would be well. 74597 I was thinking the same. If it helps heap the pressure on Souness, I'm all for it - Oliver is still a tit though.
14. He's Robert's agent as well. I haven't seen anything of Meite either.
15. His number 2, the guy from Real Madrid who's name escapes me, will take over when Ferguson goes methinks. 74538 Carlos Queiroz (sp?), yes. A couple of exiled Man U fans I know actually blame him for their demise though...
16. And you can bet your mortgage that Man U will be looking abroad too once Ferguson is gone, unless they really go for O'Neill. Now I know we're not Man U, but I'm sure we would be able to attract top-class foreign coaches if the Fat One could be bothered.
17. He makes Marcelino look like a decent, hard-working professional.
18. I think we all miss the feel-good factor that has been completely missing since Souness has been in charge. Personally, I felt there was a real buzz around Newcastle whenever I visited during the height of the Robson era, especially in 2001-2002. I was at the Villa match where Shearer scored a cracker and Bellamy got a couple of goals and after the game the atmosphere was that we'd turned a corner and were going upwards again. Not quite Keeganesque of course, but there was a lot of optimism and enthusiasm and I think that's vital. Souness never managed to get people behind him, there were never any exciting performances, so in a way he was bound to be a failure.
19. I know what you mean, but I think this one is different. If we were playing Everton or Bolton on Saturday, I wouldn't want us to get beat because it wouldn't make a difference to Souness' position. If we get beat off fucking Mansfield though, it will be the last straw and he'll definitely get pushed IMO.
20. I'd say it all depends on Craig Moore making his long-awaited debut...
21. Come on you Stags. Honestly, if it means Souness gets the sack, I will happily put up with losing on Saturday. Let's face it, we're not going to far in the Cup anyway.
