Not a fan of Nonda, he was with FC Zürich for a couple of seasons earlier in his career - he was arguably very young back then, but from what I've seen of him, he hasn't really improved.

People were saying that about Bowyer, and look what happened. I absolutely don't want to see us buy Barton. It will be Bowyer all over again. He's a thug and an overrated footballer.
-
Good point, although I still feel he owes us a good season, it would be more wasteful to lose him on a free than to cash in on him early and use the money to rebuild with players that actually want to play for us. He'd be a great asset when it comes to attracting top-class players though, like Shearer was.

Spot on. Good piece I thought, from one of the better football writers. Exactly.

Brock is a twat!. EDIT:

Seriously? You couldn't make it up

Agree with all that. I'm tired of the Beckham rumours already. As for Ben Haim, he'd be a good signing and since we basically need to buy an entire back four, it'd be great to start bringing in players as soon as possible.

I wonder how Leazes will stick up for Shpeherd if he delays everything.

From .com: If Shepherd doesn't sell up quickly, he wants shot, the greedy bastard.
-
If we'd gone into the new season with Roeder in charge, it would have been almost impossible to be pissed off at Owen leaving. We were going nowhere. But with the way things are developing, I will be really disappointed if Owen doesn't start next season with us.
-
I've just read these articles - from being depressed about Roeder/Shepherd to this in the space of a few weeks, fucking hell
-
I think he meant Owen. I'll remember him for his "Dogs" comment, god awful appointments and his ridiculous "Geordie Nation" script I think he meant Rooney.

Every London journalist's dream!

From .com: Fratt-off for Titus Despite positive press comments appearing earlier this week, Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has passed up the chance to sign former Magpie Titus Bramble on a free transfer. Instead he's moved for another former Ipswich defender - Charlton's Hermann Hreidarsson exercising a clause in his contract giving him a free transfer if the Addicks were relegated. That's despite the Icelandic stopper being almost eight years older than 25 year-old Bramble. Other clubs recently linked with the former Ipswich defender Bramble man include Fulham, Celtic and Birmingham City.

If he'd rattled in ten, that would be more like a best case scenario. I take your point though. No, if he'd played a stormer and got a load of goals surely that would increase interest from clubs / the media trying to take him off us? I agree, Owen was something of an unknown talent before last nights game. Shhhhh! I can see where the Doctor is coming from. Of course clubs like Man Utd and Liverpool aren't going to base any decision about Owen on last night, but the twatful media would go into overdrive with 'Owen wants out' rumours if he'd had a better game.

Sammer was more of a midfielder playng sweeper if I recall. Used to play so deep and just clean stuff up. Yes, he wasn't really what you'd call a defender. Scored his fair share of goals too. He was always fantastic defensively though, at least when he was playing for Dortmund, that's why I mentioned him.

Someone you'd want next to you in the trenches.

I've always thought that the club's parochialism and obsession with British managers was infuriating, but I'm glad we got Allardyce and not Houllier. Houllier is a very good manager, but I don't think he'd be right for us, at least as long as Shepherd is still in charge. Allardyce is exactly what we need now, a proven (well, sort of) manager on the up who will be given time to turn things around. Houllier, because he's foreign and because of what he achieved at Liverpool, would be under far more pressure right from day one.
-
Haha, they've changed the title to "Benitez backed for transfer spree". Hopefully someone told them that the BBC isn't supposed to be a site for Liverpool fans. Serves them right.
-
All right, where in the article does it say that Benitez will be "offered cash to lure Owen"? Nice bit of shit-stirring by the Liverpool-loving BBC, but I guess that's what you get when their chief football writer and half their staff are self-proclaimed Liverpool fans. I'd love it if we kept Owen just to piss them all off.
-
Ah, at last someone who mentions the source, thank you!
-
I'd be happy with either, they're both good players. Also, any left-back in the league who can be arsed to actually want to play football for us would be an improvement on Babayaro.

Matthias Sammer was always a favourite of mine, great defender.
