The phone lines to Barbados will be absolutely clogged what with the whole world of football and business wanting to call him.
-
The Guardian sums it up nicely.

That's what I was thinking, it really is that simple, isn't it? Surely Shepherd hasn't got a leg to stand on if Ashley gets to 50% + 1, which he will do.
-
It will be interesting to read Oliver's take on the matter. Fat Fred will have told him exactly what to say, so expect him to invent a whole new definition of "cringe-worthy".

Seconded! Just looked for that article that was on BBC today where Alan Hansen said he was 100% confident that Liverpool would win it, but looks like they've taken it off Do you mean this one ? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/6676849.stm That's right up there with the "You'll never win anything with kids" quote "Souness critics made to eat humble pie" as well tbh.

I'm refusing to get too excited until Ashley has assumed total control. Let's just hope things are quickly sorted out one way or the other, it wouldn't do us any good to be the object of speculation for months, that would be extremely unsettling.

Newcastle United were today rocked by the news that billionaire Mike Ashley had bought almost 42 percent of the club's shares. And indeed the word on the grapevine is that the retail magnate wants to take full control of the club by making a bid for the rest of the shares. Shepherd rang me to express his doubts about the Buckinghamshire-based businessman's intentions, and it is hard to disagree with the chairman. Shepherd has always said he would step aside for a Geordie Abramovich, for it is clear that only a Geordie could surpass what Shepherd has achieved. That is why the majority of Toon supporters will hope the dubious bid will amount to nothing, for surely no-one on Tyneside wants to see the club in the hands of an outsider.

Shepherd has always said, if a billionaire comes and wants to plough money into our success that's the only way he'd sell. Looks like exactly that situation. But then Shepherd's never been a man of his word. Said I loved my wife this morning, bla bla...

Billionaire businessman Mike Ashley has launched a £133.1m ($263m) offer for Newcastle United. The news came after the retail entrepreneur said he had bought a 41.6% stake in the Premiership team from Sir John Hall's family for more than £55m. Mr Ashley said the firm had bought 55.3 million shares in the club at 100 pence a share. He added that his takeover offer priced the rest of the club's shares at the same level.

Definitely.

He's from Buckinghamshire - Oliver and Shepherd are seething.

Interesting.

Definitely going to a snoozefest and I honestly can't make my mind up about who I want to win. I dislike both clubs.

There's no way we'll get rid of Babayaro with the wages he's on.

Fucking hell

Another few needless digs at Martins, too - give it a rest, man. As for Wenger, I'm sure we will politely "move aside" and let him have the one we don't want.
-
Speaking of Bundesliga defenders, Magnin has had a really good season and said that he'd consider a move abroad, probably wouldn't cost too much either. I think he could do well in England.
-
I hope they're right about Ben Haim. Wouldn't mind Campbell either.

Is this saga still dragging on then? I'm glad it's not on TV or in the papers over here. -
You mean she's a fella? No, I just know where to go for proof that this is a parody campaign.

Well, I've submitted my application.
