SAM ALLARDYCE is targeting Bolton midfielder Kevin Nolan as Newcastle’s big January signing. Newcastle boss Allardyce is set to move for his former Reebok Stadium skipper amid doubts over the futures of Emre and Joey Barton at St James’s Park. And with Nolan under fire from a section of Bolton’s support after a lengthy run of poor form, the Trotters are now prepared to do business. The 25-year-old rose to prominence and the verge of the full England squad under Allardyce, but has not been at his best over the last 12 months. Matters came to a head in midweek when Nolan’s substitution during Bolton’s victory over Derby drew ironic cheers from home fans. But Allardyce remains convinced of Nolan’s ability, with the Scouser’s eye for goal a particular attraction. It may be that Nolan – who is understood to share the same agent as Allardyce – could replace Emre, who is unsettled and in demand, according to his agent. Galatasaray have been keeping tabs on Emre, and his agent Ahmet Bulut said yesterday: “There are a lot of clubs interested but they have to speak to Newcastle. “He (Emre) is not happy because he is not playing.”

Newcastle chairman Chris Mort has moved to reject the speculation over Sam Allardyce's future. Mort insists the Magpies are not actively recruiting a replacement for the under-pressure Allardyce. Allardyce has found himself in the spotlight once again after a run of poor results which has brought the club just one point from a possible nine over the Christmas period. The likes of Alan Shearer and Martin Jol have been mentioned as possible replacements for Allardyce, but Mort has rubbished the rumours. "All this makes me laugh and I find all this speculation tedious," said Mort. "There is a different name every week and there is just no truth in it."

I don't understand you posting stuff like that after having just posted. Is it not acceptable on this forum to have differing opinions of issues anymore? Why when some even explain why and I see them consistenly claim they are not happy with some of the things going on at the club but give what in their opinions (which they are entitled to) are valid reasons are they classed as apologists, arse lickers and told to fuck off. And yes I realise some are as arsey the other way around so I am not saying "one lot" are worse than the others and this isn't aimed at you specifically but more to a theme that seems to be growing on here that if someone doesn't agree with the posters opinion theres is no longer valid on here.
