  1. I was going to say the Union Rooms too. Whilst its not great they have plenty of screens and is pretty central.
  2. No Considering they normally do join us I don't think that reply is going to stop them...

  4. Sorry guys I have been slacking in my piss up thread posting.. I just assumed now that it was a combined piss up going by the turnouts these days.
  5. Furious Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce held clear-the-air talks with axed Steven Taylor before yesterday's game at Reading. Allardyce moved to dispel the England Under-21 skipper's fears that he had no future at Newcastle after the manager was reported as labelling his performance at Manchester City last month as "crap." The Toon boss admitted he had used the offending word, but insisted it was used in general terms to describe Newcastle's inept defending, and had not been directed at Taylor. Allardyce insisted that he believes Taylor has a great future at St. James' Park, despite his rejection of a five-year contract. Allardyce said: "The remark was misinterpreted and singled out for one indivual player. I don't deny I used the word, but it was about the defending in general, not one individual. "I said it wasn't just Steven Taylor, it was the whole of the back four. "Steven will be disappointed that he hasn't been in the team the last couple of games. I expect everyone who isn't in the team to be disappointed, but he is working hard in training and waiting for his chance. He is a great lad, a nice young age and he has a massive future. That future should be at Newcastle United." Allardyce's clarification will come as some comfort to Taylor, who for the second game running found himself in the stands yesterday. But Taylor will be hoping that contract negotiations can be resumed after his father and agent, Alf, described Newcastle's initial offer as "disappointing". Allardyce's explanation will be welcomed by the Taylor camp. A friend of the youngster said: "The only club Steven wants to play for is Newcastle. He is black and white through and through. "He was disappointed to read the headlines and what seemed to be a public condemnation of his display. "Coming on top of the manager questioning whether Steven was ready to step up to the full England side it has left him it has left him wondering whether he has a longterm future at Newcastle." Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been alerted to the Taylor situation, while Portsmouth are also longterm admirers.
  6. Aye Emre wide instead of N'Zog was a poor choice but other than that he cannot win can he. I guarantee if he dropped Rozenhal and Martins for Faye and Smith and we lost you would be moaning about why the fuck we changed a winning defence and attacking partnership to bring in new faces. And btw I totally understand why Rozenhal wasn't brought straight back in and this is other than the fact him Faye and Cacapa were class on Monday night but look at why Rozenhal lost his place. He looked poor (and I am not slagging him off as he has looked decent in most of his games) in a couple of matches where he looked suspect in terms of heading and the physical aspect of his game. With players like Kitson, Hunt etc for me I can see why he still wanted the physical prescence of Faye once again. Anyhoo as I sad it doesn't matter as I am sure you would moan regardless even if we had won.
  7. TRANSFER RUMOURS Manchester United are tracking £4.5m-rated Bayern Munich right-back Willy Sagnol. (The Sun) Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has told Manchester City that they will probably not be able to afford Michael Owen after City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson expressed an interest in buying the England striker. (Daily Express) Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson is trying to lure Bolton midfielder Gary Speed to Bramall Lane on a three-month loan deal. (Various) Newcastle and Tottenham are tracking Rangers and Scotland full-back Alan Hutton. (Scottish Sun)
  8. Going by the state of him at some of the piss ups I guess he is probably lying in a gutter somewhere, half pissed.
  9. Cheers. Thinking back, the reason he stood out was his forward running so what you say is fair comment. I didn't know he is the national team f/b (just shows how badly out of touch with international football I am ) With the exception of the Georgia match its only the last few games he has started but in everyones (fans, media, manager) opinion he now seems to have made it his own. Though competing with the likes of 48 year old Graham Alexander and Murty, who has looked awful anytime hes got near the team, its not exactly hard.
  10. Buy it and Stranglehold on the Xbox 360 for only £39.99 where both games are half price if bought with another game.
  11. 18 months ago he was getting slated by most, other than Rangers supporters, however the last 12-18 months has seen a massive improvement in his performances. Still question marks over how good he is at defending as he is more of an attacking full back but going forward he is certainly starting to look the part. I believe the recent hype has also earned him the nickname amongst some north of the border "The Scottish Cafu". Some other Scottish posters might disagree but I admittedly used to think he was utter shite but over the last year or so has certainly won me over and has made the RB position both for Club and Country rightfully his.
  12. Going to the hospital tonight to see my sister and my two neice who she gave birth to yesterday. Then its off out to a Halloween party tomorrow night.
  13. How long until he falls out with Anelka and Diouf? Is he not an "old skool" manager like Souness and a bit of an arse?
  14. Sitting 2nd in the league after 11 games. 8 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses (Chelsea and Manchester United) Have signed Modric, Van der Vaart, Hunteelar and have Makelele and Gourcoff on loan. Sold Pattison, Edgar, Viduka, Rozenhal and N'Zogbia. Huntelaar started off with 10 goals in 5 games but has now gone 9 hours without a goal
  15. SAM Allardyce says defenders Steven Taylor and David Rozehnal have done nothing wrong – despite finding themselves out of his starting XI. The pair missed out on starting berths against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, though Rozenhal came off the bench in both games. And manager Sam Allardyce believes competition for places is finally getting interesting at Newcastle United. The United boss arguably had his strongest bench of the season to call upon for Monday night's game against Spurs at St James's Park, a 3-1 win for his side. Big names Rozenhal, Joey Barton, James Milner, Shola Ameobi, and Steve Harper all missed out on a place in the starting XI, while fans' favourite Taylor did not even make the bench. Allardyce admits Rozehnal and Taylor, among others, have been unlucky to lose their places after starting the season as his first-choice centre-halves. But the 54-year-old – whose injury problems are slowly easing – insists he is not afraid to upset players, believing fierce competition can only be good for the club. He told the Gazette: "David's done nothing wrong at all, and Steven Taylor hasn't done much wrong either, and he didn't get on the subs bench. "That's a measure of what I've been trying to get in terms of the squad. "Keeping them all fit's been a problem, but once they all do get fit then it's going to be a battle for the team and the subs bench, and I think that's really healthy. "It's going to frustrate and upset a few players, but if we're winning games of football – and that's happening – they have to accept it. "When they get in the team, they have to fight to keep the shirt. "That grows the spirit and culture of the club, and it grows the desire to play with that shirt and not give it up. "That's what a manager's really looking for."
  16. The irony.. Are you still wanting those posts deleted?
  17. The Football Association of Ireland has terminated the contract of Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton by mutual consent following an emergency meeting. Staunton, who took over from Brian Kerr in January 2006, had been under pressure because of poor performances in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. The nation's bid to reach the finals ended when his team could only manage a 1-1 draw with Cyprus on 17 October. Under-21 boss Don Givens will take temporary charge of the senior side. Their final Euro 2008 qualifier is against Wales in Cardiff on 17 November. Assistant Kevin MacDonald and goalkeeping coach Alan Kelly have also been axed but Sir Bobby Robson will stay on as International Football Consultant. Former Leeds and Aston Villa boss David O'Leary is the favourite to take over as Republic boss on a permanent basis, while another former player, Liam Brady, has also expressed an interest in the job. FAI President David Blood thanked Staunton and his management team for their efforts since taking over almost two years ago. "They have brought through many young players and leave behind a squad with strong development potential," said Blood in a statement. But he admitted he was not happy with the lack of success under Staunton's leadership. "As a member of the three-man committee that made the recommendation to appoint Stephen and his team, I am disappointed that things have not worked out the way I, Stephen or my colleagues on the board expected," added Blood. "The board will select people, with considerable football experience in the professional game, to appoint the new manager." Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney said appointing outside advisers to head-hunt the successor to Staunton was "the way forward". When it was put to Delaney that it was recognition that the decision on who to appoint should be made by football professionals rather than FAI administrators, he said: "That's a fair point, yes." Staunton vowed to stay in the job after the Republic were booed off the Croke Park pitch after the game against Cyprus. However, FAI chief Delaney refused to publicly back him in the wake of another disappointing display and Staunton eventually left his post following a lengthy meeting in Dublin on Tuesday night. Staunton was something of a shock choice for the post, given his limited managerial and coaching experience. Sir Bobby Robson will remain in his post with the Republic Surprise at his elevation from Walsall assistant coach to international manager was tempered by the appointment of Robson in the role of consultant and adviser. It was hoped that Robson's wealth of experience would compliment Staunton's enthusiasm and stature as the Republic's most capped player. But a 4-0 friendly defeat by Holland last August set the tone for things to come. A month later, Staunton was ordered from the touchline during the qualifier against Germany, while a humiliating 5-2 away defeat to Cyprus soon followed. The Republic could only beat minnows San Marino with a last-minute goal in February as their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign completely fell apart. The Republic are now ranked 32nd in the world, compared to 15th only a few years ago.
