So did our lass, bit longer than 5 minutes though with 6 peeps to fill in. I said to her, in 100 years from now your great, great, great etc grand daughter will be researching this. I did a bit on Ancestry.co.uk a while ago - I found that my paternal great-grandfather who was originally from Berwick met his wife who was Cumbrian in Barrow in Furness before they moved to Jarra in about 1895. For the last 2 or 3 censuses his occupation was down as a steam mechanic or boiler worker so I assume he worked in a shipyard but for one of them (1891 I think) I'm sure his occupation was given as "Ethiopian Comedian" - I assumed it was a typo or the "Jedi" answer of the day as I'm sure he wasn't African

Just done the census online - 5 minutes - sorted.

Yes, but how did the kid like it?

Don't want players for any other team to succeed, especially teams I hate but on a personal level I'll judge him by his reaction when he inevitibly scores against us next month.

As someone who has twice lost a shit load of weight (and having started the third time this year) I can't recommend cycling high enough. You can potter around ST for a couple of months and then you have the delights of going further afield in Durham to come once you're more confident and fitter.

Just thinking this morning why I dislike Dalglish so much - his interview where he was asked whether Carragher was lucky to stay on the pitch resulted in him saying he was lucky to be playing for Liverpool and how we should never talk about incidents in the game, just the game itself. The reporter bottled it but should have screamed "ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION YOU TWAT" at full volume. Also nice to see what a good loser Ferguson is.

I think the recent Superman, Batman ans Star Trek films prove that it's possible to re-boot a classic brand in a good way so I'm not completely averse to the concept - agree there should be no Ford or Hauer.
-
Smallpox versus cancer for me - though I enjoy seeing Ferguson's blood pressure being raised by almost fair refereeing. Having said that I don't think there was that much difference between the Carragher or Rafael challenges and Ryan Taylor's.

Can't understand why they stopped before the bloke who scored had been laid out - then again Italians do need a good 10 to 1 ratio before they feel comfortable fighting.

I feel a bit better today than of late - I know I sound like a stuck record but this getting a new job shit has been getting me down - anyway I had a really good phone interview this morning and have another one next week - in fact they are so desperate that after I told the agent about the one this morning and he told the client they brought it forward to Monday as they don't want me to get away as it were. However I prefer the first one of the two so will wait to see how that turns out anyway.

Fucking Tory bastards trying to set rid of a socialist tradition is my take on it. (I know Thatcher pretty much succeeded in her target to kill it (in the UK at least) but still) I would also resist the time change - being on the Meridian is somthing that appeals to my twisted definition of patriotism.

Isn't that a famous spoof site? -
I love that crap that the head copper came out with about banning the game because they can't cope - maybe he should suggest banning alcohol in Glasgow as I'm sure that contributes to their time as well.

Daft question I could look up but how do you charge them without a USB port? - do they have an iPod type connection and if so can you transfer files to/from a PC without Wi-Fi?

Just had to do an online aptitude test as part of a job application - fucking hell didn't half take me back to junior school days and preparing for the 11+ - shite like rotating and flipping shapes and working out who's related to who (assuming it isn't Mackem land and mother/wife/sister are 3 people).

I used to work on the 34th floor of a building until a couple of years ago and even walking down the stairs for a firedrill ensured sore legs the next day. We did have a t-shirt for the challenge of running up which at the end before we moved was held by a really fit cyclist who did it in just over 5 minutes.

Anyone notice the contrast of how strong Drogbha was when running down the clock in holding people off compared to his normal game? Might make you think his frailness in normal time is somehow - I dunno - deliberate.
-
Not when he took it over - I had it for two years after he arrived - I had a ST when McKeag was chairman as well. I was complaining about you sneering at Brum and suggesting only "ambitious" clubs should be allowed to win things. I despise Ashley as much as you - I also despise Hall and Shepherd for the money they extorted from the club and the heinous crime of selling to Ashley as well as leaving the club fucked financially. My lack of enthusiasm for going to games has nothing to do with Ashley either - its just the way football has gone and that process started under your heroes.
-
No - I gave up my ST two years ago because I don't enjoy it enough any more. I don't advocate cheap teams as a choice - I just don't sneer at them either. What you don't get is that short of a billionaire who is willing to spend, your wish can never happen so you may as well get used to making the best out of shit.

Pauley Perette is another one who's a million miles from the border.

I quite like 2 and a half men - its simplistic and pretty un-PC - the money he was paid for it is daft though but then again they wouldn't have ran at a loss.

Cheaper car insurance for women IS discrimination, says EU
NJS replied to Dr Kenneth Noisewater's topic in General Chat
A lad I worked with signed up on a pilot scheme a couple of years ago that based it on mileage (all they used was a GPS box). Because he cycled to the train station and really only used his car for the occasional night out or shopping on a weekend, his mileage was pitiful and the insurer refused to let him continue on it as wasn't making them any money. I'd guess though that if this applied to everyone they could work out a scale that would give them the same level of income and be demonstrably fair (in my view). -

The under 25 argument is fair enough but as I've said before, I don't see why two 40 yr olds who drive the same car with the same notional mileage should not get equal premiums. Before Rob W steams in with his actuary argument I also read a good comment elsewhere - it might be true that men are overall statisticlally more likely to have accidents but its also true that women are statistically more likely to work less hours and take time off for maternity leave which effects their careers but paying them less is still illegal. Agree there won't be equalisation though. -
There were a few alternatives - Livepool st was one and Vauxhall was another - a place called The Vauxhall Tavern which was a gay bar - used to see some horrendous sights in there where there would be people who'd been out all night.

I'd rather you called me a South Tyneside/half mackem cunt than call me posh Usual pub of choice is The Gun on Brushfield St - it's a bit of a nostalgia haunt as its one of the pubs we used to go to on a Saturday morning after getting the midnight train down for games in the 80s but theres a couple of others Fish has mentioned before like the Water Poet which are canny as well.
