  1. Problem is the state level elections reflect the national vote so you can end up with cycles where the republicans are in charge. Also as I understand it District borders are drawn every ten years which is why they're so fucked now due to the shit midterms Obama had in 2010. Thats why the Democrats relatively poor performance down the card matters more this year.
  2. He needs to challenge and somehow win all of those last five or six states - one or two are no good so it's all about accepting that. I think they've probably moved on to trying to build an agenda for the next election that this one was "stolen".
  3. Fair enough, maybe I misread it but it still shows support for something in a direction that's nowhere near Biden's table. I know it's an eternal argument about pragmatism versus ambition and I know they won the big one but I think they may have done better down the card with something more. As I said if they only achieve minimal change over the next 4 years then it will be easier for the next Trump to win.
  4. I understand the pragmatism argument but the Fox exit polls showed support for medicare for all at 73% - the problem is the infantile association between it and socialism which they need to get over.
  5. If "anytime soon" means June next year at a guess, that's still a huge, huge result.
  6. There was a story the other day about GPs and other clinics being asked to prepare for two vaccines from the start od December one of which had to be kept at - 70 so I'd guess that refers to this one and possibly the Oxford one. If it wasn't for the fact it needs mass use I'd tell any anti-science cunts to fuck off from getting it/them.
  7. There an argument over why they failed to win the senate - one side says its due to support for BLM and defunding the police and the other says its due to lukewarm policy offers including no medicare for all. Funnily enough all the candidates who vocally backed medicare won and those that opposed it lost. They'll use the senate excuse for doing nothing while offering nothing to change it at the midterms.
  8. She's right though - apart from normalising government and actually tackling the pandemic which of course are necessary and welcome, Biden won't do anything for vast tracts of the people who voted for him - just like Obama before him. Exit polls showed huge support for medicare for all but its nowhere near the table for Biden. Just like Blair he'll concentrate on the perceived people who won it for re-election purposes and completely ignore the base and then they'll wonder why the next Trump beats them.
  9. Tantrum ramp-up incoming.....
  10. I love the way there's this idea that Trump hijacked a decent party and corrupted it. Nixon, Reagan and Bush Sr were all horrible cunts and Bush Jr was a useful idiot puppet who was more than happy to just about steal an election. It's like arguing Johnson has turned the tories into cunts.
  11. Thing is Trump would have easily won but for the pandemic which means the idea of the country being healed to any degree is bollocks. Changing demographics can only do so much and I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.
  12. Naive - if any of the cases goes to the supreme court we'll be in classic VAR territory.
  13. As I understand it, it involves sufficient quorums being met so even then not clearcut. If those conditions aren't met then it goes to Pelosi.
  14. Yet the Fox exit polls suggest majority support for decent policies. It's like the UK where "values" are becoming king.
  15. With Nevada, Biden needs two of the last five whereas Trump needs four. Wisconsin is looking good for Biden so Michigan or Georgia would do it. I hope this happens as if it comes down to Penn the legal shit will get very messy.
  16. I think Biden will win but I'm 100% sure Trump would have won easily without Covid. That does not bode well for the US.
  17. I noticed he mentioned using the army for support purposes last night which is both interesting from both a taking it seriously at last pov and also how much it'll inspire the conspiracy nut jobs.
  18. He's wrapped it up in the supposed current "debate" on trans rights which I don't think is any different - what's wrong with saying anyone who denies rights is a bigot? The BBC has a record on this even before now - inviting a fuckwit like Nigel Lawson to oppose an expert on climate change being a classic.
  19. I don't doubt it was weaponised by his opponents and to some extent exaggerated but to to come out and say so when the proper response was at most to say its a fair report is exactly the bloody-minded naivety which made him a poor leader. He deserves all the stick he's getting for it.
  20. The new head cheese has decided that anything like that is controversial. He's obviously a fucking prick.
  21. You deserve a proper reward Cath - I'd just ask you all what you want in the world and make it happen. (Short of the impossible like Newcastle winning something).
  22. I had to watch a bit of last week's match on that Irish channel Premier sports and I expected them to be bad for it after having an Irish boss a while ago I always had to correct but fuck me these cunts were bad - made Sky seem almost bearable for it.
  23. I see they're doing a Dexter revival - due out next year. No details apart from Michael C Hall returning. I know I'm the only person on the planet who didn't hate the ending and maybe it should have ended after 4 years but I'm still looking forward to seeing what they come up with.
  24. Bit Tin Hat but did anyone with IPTV have issues last night? Mine stopped working on my TV for all channels but if I connected via a VPN on my tablet it worked fine. This morning all devices are working with no VPN. I wonder if Sky have worked with Virgin (my ISP) to protect their PPV games? (The game was typical Bruce shite obviously)
