Newcastle have been handed a boost with the news that Craig Moore's injury is not as serious as first feared.

The Magpies feared Moore might be ruled out for the rest of the season after limping out of last weekend's defeat to Manchester City.

However, Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder believes Moore could be fit to face Sheffield United this weekend.

"By getting Craig off the field when we did, we prevented any serious damage to his groin," said Roeder.

"He will be back training with us again by Thursday and we feel that he has a genuine chance of playing against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday."

Stephen Carr is also set to shake off a minor knock to line up at Bramall Lane.

"Stephen Carr also took a knock on Saturday, but he will also be back on Thursday and will be okay for the weekend," added Roeder.

As long as Carr is getting his game we'll continue to lose

Moore alongside Taylor

experience and youthfulness, a good combo.

Moore brings the best out of some of the rash youngens Tite arse inc.

It's more that Moore likes to sweep and Taylor likes to be the one attacking the ball imo.

Although their not even in the same class (Moore being the former captain of his country, blah, blah, blah) but when Woodgate played beside Bumble that was the role he always played - making Bumble look a greater prospect than he was/is.
