I'm coming round to Bon Iver too. Didn't like it at all at the start of the year.

Bon Iver was 2007, wasn't it? If not, it's on mine then. Along with Grouper who has a similar vibe going for it.

I thought so too, but the NPR year in review podcast came out today and included it due to it only getting a limited release in '07, so I think it's being allowed. Febuary 2008 in the UK.

Not this then?

Nah, Here's Your Future by The Thermals is an all time favourite of mine so I come at religious rock from the opposite angle.

Bit embarrassing for you to be chasing me around threads though.

 Forgot about most of them as well even if not all of them are my favourites. People still need to check what they haven't heard. I'm really listening to too much music at the minute. Going to have to make an ongoing list next year so I can actually recommend things to people.

Just remembered The Mars Volta and Elle Milano as well. Quite like McCartney's little effort with The Firemen too. And Ray LaMontagne. British Sea Power too. Blitzen Trapper are great too. Long story short, I could probably do a Top 100 if I could be arsed. Good year all in all.

Alejandro Escovado and Beach House too. Tallest Man on Earth if you fancy some Dylan-esque folk.

hows pitchfork these days dave?

I do look at Pitchfork certainly but tbf most of those came recommended from the Metacritic forum or from just looking to see what people had bought of Amazon who bought other stuff I liked. Most of the stuff I got off Pitchfork I got from previous albums as there's quite a few on there that they panned if I remember correctly. There's probably only about 10 of those that they give high scores to.

Don't worry I know you weren't having a dig and I'm not getting all defensive but I don't really know of any other ways of getting to hear about the type of music that I like other than through recommendations from such sites.

www.rateyourmusic.com is a pretty good site if you can find someone with similar tastes to you. Most people are just so desparate to show off their indie eliteness and give 5 stars to some boring drone from Ecuador and one star to TV on The Radio because they'll look cool because of it.
